  6. I stage ammo. I keep enough ammo in each safe, either in magazines or in boxes for immediate use in the guns stored in each safe. Ammo that will be shot in the next month or so stay in my desk drawers where I load magazines. I have ammo that will be shot in the next year in plastic ammo cans from Harbor Freight in a file cabinet, they stack nicely side by side. I keep the rest of my ammo in large airtight storage boxes with dry packs in each. These last ones only get broken into a couple of times a year to refill supplies or restock with new ammo. Since we have no kids around I don't see a reason to keep all the ammo locked up. If I did feel a need to lock up ammo I would look into the inexpensive Stack-On or other non fireproof key lock storage. Much cheaper than a large gun safe. But a large gun safe is always nice to have, you can move the ammo out as you need the space for other things.

    Halloween

I actually started off think I would give out nickles so I did adjust for inflation over the years, I guess I have no concept what halloween candy costs.
  11. I'm a Marlin lever fan. I have 4, hard to pick a favorite other than how much I shoot it and that is partially because of ammo cost. 39A Golden Mountie .22 1894 .357 336 30-30 .410 Got the .410 as my first shotgun when I was 13 for Christmas it was made during depression, one of 6500 made. Love the 39A found in the corner of my Dad's closet when I was cleaning out his guns. Never knew he had it made the year I graduated from high school so he must have got it after I was out of the house. Has a vintage scope. The other two I bought on TGO.

    Halloween

Not a curmudgeon (well not completely, my wife may disagree). Lived in our first house for 10 years and we would get about 100 kids per year. I would dress up and try to scare them as I gave out candy. We then moved into the country on a 500 foot drive back in the woods, very spooky to walk down the drive at night. Maybe had 10 or so over the next 5 or 6 years, our friends with kids drove the kids around since the houses were so far a part. After the friends kids aged out it dropped to zero. Now we live on a 1200 foot drive back in the woods and it has continued at zero so 30+ years of zero beggars showing up. Every year I think I should get candy just in case, but decided I would just give out quarters if anyone showed up.

  16. My Father was a tech sergeant, was at a lot of the famous battles but a day or so later to setup infrastructure. He was an amature photogapher and took hundreds of photos but very few while in Europe, most were when he was in England or in boot camp before shipping over. Growing up and seeing some of these photos and seeing a miniature Minox camera he owned I was sure he must have been a spy in the war.

  19. I waited about 7 months in NY. Got my TN 5 years ago in 10 days. Process in TN was much more complete in making sure I at least knew how to handle a handgun and shoot it, not that it was that great, but NY had none, just bureaucracy and stalling, not even basic laws of the state. I would highly recommend getting further handgun training if you're new to shooting. I took two NRA handgun courses, basic handgun and a self defence course and the were excellent starting points.
