  1. Was just reading about the Max-9, added it to my look at list. Article I read said it came with a 10 & 12 round mag. Been lusting for a Sig 365 but the Max-9 may change my mind.
  2. I have bought most of my steel from https://shootingtargets7.com/ They have sales for every holiday including minor ones. They have charts. on the website to tell you what thickness you need for different calibers. The high velocity rounds you need more distance, 100 yards is probably good. If you angle your targets properly you will not get fragments bouncing back but if you don't have the right targets for what you are shooting you will put some divets in the steel that can cause some unexpected ricochets. I have 30 or so steel targets scattered on my range. I color code mine so we shoot what they are intended for. All are good for .22 but .22 specific I have painted red. Some of those I have bought different places when I see a good sale. Next thicker are painted yellow and are good for most handguns and carbines up to 45acp. Green are the thickest and are good for the bigger stuff I own. Part of the reason besides cost for not doing them all thick is they don't ring as well for the lower calibers. My closest target is about 7-10 yards with a steep enough angle for handguns that they don't throw back scatter. I go out to 30 yards or so for shooting from my deck. I have a shooting stand that I can setup to get out to 60 yards. For shooting bigger stuff I go to the public range. Just don't have a place for a longer range. A neighbor was putting in a 300 yard range and told me I could shoot anytime, then sold his place and with the pandemic have not gotten to know the new owner to see if they are shooters. Another neighbor was going to put in 100-150 yard range then his significant other kicked him out. She might let me build it but not sure I want to put the effort in by myself on someone else's property.

  5. Wife and I got are second shot on the first no side effects other than a slightly sore arm for less than a day. Since we are in the old as dirt category and most of our friends are in the same category most are now fully vaccinated or partially. We have tried to have picnics in the church parking lot once a week since May. We missed a few weeks this Winter but we are all ready to move on with our normal life.

    Deals forum?

Saw a deal on 9mm target rounds for $34.99 for a box of 50 plus shipping. I decided to pass, leave them for someone that needs them more.

  8. Went down one time to hear Hickock and his son talk and shake hands. great pair of guys. He had a autographed target with him and said he would give it to this you man in the audience if he could answer one question to prove he was a fan. How far away is the 80 yard gong on his range?
  9. Welcome to East TN from further East and to TGO
  10. I always figured a triple tap was the right way to go, 2 to the chest and one to the crotch. My Sister In-Law was taught that when she took a course for her carry permit.
  11. Not sure what they are doing but lots of fire power.
  12. Bud's Gun in Sevierville is suppose to be biggest gun shop in TN and has an attached range. I have bought a couple of guns from them. Smoky Mountain Knife Works is next door and has a large gun area and a lot of neat knives. Lots of smaller shops depending on where you land. I'm about 90 minutes from Bud's and try to make it down a couple of times a year. It is a good place to take liberals just to see their head explode from the long guns out on the floor that you can pick up and look at. Handguns are behind the counter or in cases, too easy to walk away so you have to ask to handle them. Full auto and suppressors are federally controlled and require a federal license per item and take 6 months plus to get one.

  14. Welcome to TGO. To answer one of your questions back aways the power company getting into the internet business is fairly new but they seem to be expanding into areas underserved faster than any other companies. They are doing the same here in NE TN with Fiber and small wireless towers. Still waiting for them to drop a couple more towers in for me to move from slow DSL but a friend that had no options but cell hot spots or satellite just got fiber back in December. Good Luck
  15. Good question. I joined before even moving to TN and was welcomed and encouraged. I have learn lots of things, some even useful . Met a fellow early on that has become one of best friends. I consider many of you on here a friend even though I have only met a few of you. Bought some nice guns from several of you, one I just picked up today. Bought a nice knife for my son but it is still being stored on my mantel . Have not missed many days checking in here since I joined, it is just part of my day.
