Glen Funk certainly played a major role, plus I am guessing that the left-wing money people told her it was time to step aside. She still needs the left-wing money people for her comeback campaign in 2021, so she will continue to do their bidding. I am confident that planning for her redemption tour is already underway -- she'll get appointed to some appropriately progressive volunteer citizen councils, she'll do volunteer work for the appropriate leftist causes, and in three years she'll be back seeking office again.

Complaint levels rise and fall, so it's tough to put too much stock in them. I heard lots of complaining about season five (Terminus) and I thought it was fine. Last season (seven) was the worst, although it had its moments. So far season eight is better. But overall, viewership is trending downward for the last several years, and this is an expensive show to produce, so they need to do something to increase interest. We'll certainly get a season nine, and probably ten, but the show needs something new. Maybe getting rid of Carl, which doesn't appear in the comics, will give the creators some new freedom to experiment.

I didn't think it was too slow; I liked it a lot. And I liked that they finally explained the whole situation about the trash people. And the trash shredder scene was astonishing. I think Simon is a goner, but whether he gets is from Negan or Jadis is unclear to me right now. Probably Negan, but....

I did handle it. It seems extremely well made and the trigger is magnificent. It has a fiber optic front sight, which I have come to prefer for pistol front sights. If I had the money I would have purchased it already.

gregintenn, I was just at On Target and they have the P210 at $1499. Cheers, Whisper

Companies ending partnerships with NRA

Yeah, kind of a shame that Delta threw away a $38 million tax break just to spite 13 people and earn praise from left-wing authoritarians. Wonder if it was worth it? -
I just thought of another reason you should buy an AR: Because left-wing authoritarians don't want you to have one. Hope this helps, Whisper

If you don't want it for yourself, get one anyway with the idea of passing it to your children or grandchildren. They'll be thankful to you. And, if you wind up shooting yours a little, I'm pretty confident you will find yourself having a lot of fun. Cheers, Whisper

Be aware that the new Sig Sauer P210 Legend is still made in Germany and not New Hampshire. It is an extraordinarily nice pistol. And Sig changed to the button mag release on the side of the frame with the P210-8 version in 2003.

A week or so ago there was one at On Target in Murfreesboro and one at Outpost Armory in Christiana. I was shocked; until then I had only seen two in my entire life, and then I saw two in one day in the same county. I want one. Just don't want to pay what it costs. Cheers, Whisper

Still more fun: Georgia legislature takes steps against anti-gun Delta Airlines; $38 million tax break on jet fuel goes away. https://www.seattletimes.com/business/georgia-senate-to-vote-on-tax-bill-delta-benefit-dropped/ Cheers, Whisper -

From a source I can't reveal here, I'm told that Enterprise has been particularly hard-hit by negative response to their announcement, which has caused them to lose out on a major land acquisition they were in the process of negotiating...with a gun owner who has now refused to sell his property to them. -
I doubt it is open to anyone other than vendors on Thursday, since they won't have the admissions mechanism set up until Friday. But calling and asking is a good idea. I've been to NRA conventions in Nashville and Charlotte, and both were well worthwhile. Both required two days to get through all the exhibits. Cheers, Whisper

While we can point out many things that these two women did wrong, or did without adequate skill, they scored an A on the three most important things: 1. Have a gun. 2. Be willing to use it. 3. No matter what happens, keep fighting. I would argue that, while they made many mistakes, the fact that they got the most important things right is responsible for their victory. Cheers, Whisper

Just found out about this a few weeks ago, and I think it's great. Cheers, Whisper

I have no problems with companies *having* political opinions. I have plenty of family and friends with political opinions, some of which do not match with mine. But a company that wants to start discriminating against customers who have certain political opinions has opened up the door to customers discriminating against them. Once a company chooses a side in any political battle, they should not be surprised when customers on the other side fight back. All these companies severing ties with the NRA have joined the list of anti-freedom organizations that will never see a penny of my money, like McDonalds, Levis, Leatherman, etc. Cheers, Whisper

Has the panic buying started? FL gun show draws 1000's
Whisper replied to Grand Torino's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think people in FL may be buying more since there's talk of new state laws there in the wake of the Parkland murders, but I doubt it will spark a buying frenzy elsewhere. However, let a Clinton-type ban show up in Congress with significant support, and it will be a different story. -
Do the lobbying costs include all campaign donations? Seems to me like the NRA would contribute more than $3.2 million overall. I may do some research on this if no one knows right offhand. Thanks, Whisper

Some people are redeemable, and deserve mercy, but not that guy. Gold star for the kid. The episode could have been shortened to fit the regular one-hour slot; it drug on too long. But it advanced the storyline in a satisfactory way and revealed some interesting surprises about what's in store (although one was a surprise I have predicted). I won't comment further for those who did not see the episode yet.

As I said in the other thread, I believe the answer is in hardening the schools, And but I don't think it takes overwhelming military force at any individual school. Psychos shoot up schools because they know schools are soft targets. The SRO idea is the right response, but there should be more careful selection of SROs -- the position should be treated as serious duty, and not a place to park worn-out officers who are no longer fit for patrol and who need a place to fill out their last year before retirement. It's not a suitable position for an officer who will be afraid to engage a threat, like the SRO in Florida last week. The SRO should be visible at the school throughout the day, should be mobile and not sitting at a desk at the front entrance all day, and should mix with and build a relationship with the students. If kids see that the officer is friendly and concerned about their welfare, that increases the chance they'll say something to him if they know another kid is about to go off the rails. My kids are all past school age now, but at the high school they attended, there was one SRO who rotated among three (maybe more) high schools; some days he was there and some days not, and all the kids knew that he was not there to protect them -- his main interest was catching kids with weed, which was emphasized by the fact that he drove a DARE vehicle. All tactical errors. SROs don't even have to be sworn officers -- we guard nuclear plants with serious well-trained personnel who are committed to the task of protecting the facility where they're stationed. Our schools deserve at least that much. My thoughts, and worth every cent you paid for them, Whisper

One of the thing that strongly concerns me is that school shootings by kids in the US reinforce to our overseas enemies how easily those things are accomplished. I fear it is only a matter of time until we see a Beslan-type assault on an elementary school by jihadists who have some training and who are ready to lose their lives in the process. A school where the SRO is afraid to engage a lone teenager isn't going to fare well in a situation like that. Look at Israel. You see terror attacks there -- with guns, knives, bombs, rockets -- on a regular basis. But the last shooting at a school in Israel was March 2008. Their schools are not soft targets.

Trump urges ban on 'bump stocks,' other gun modifiers
Whisper replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree this is true of some Republicans, but I wouldn't generalize to say this true of all of them. It's certainly true of President Trump. He was a gun-banning Democrat when it was expedient for him, then he became a Republican when that was more expedient. Now he's moving in the other direction. Trump's only guiding principle is to do what is best for him at the moment. He will help us on RKBA when he perceives it as beneficial to him, but I wouldn't look to him for any consistent help on this issue.
