Trump gets to appoint another Supreme Court Justice
Whisper replied to DaveTN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The confirmation fight over this one is really going to be something. We may see a couple of senators fight it out in the Thunderdome.... Cheers, Whisper -
I know a couple of people who have fired the new Cobra and say they work well. But everyone I've talked to has remarked about the poor quality finish. I know Colt can't afford to finish them like the Cobras of the 1970s, but for the money they are charging its inexcusable for the guns to look like they do. Cheers, Whisper

I took the Rangemaster instructor certification course last year, and Aqil was one of the assistant instructors. He's a squared away guy who knows what he is doing. Cheers, Whisper

Been a while since there's been a show in Murfreesboro. Guess I'll go check this one out and see if I can do some trades with those Walthers that aren't selling over in the classifieds. Anyone else going? Cheers, Whisper

If you want to help North Carolina fight people like Verla Insko, who is a long-time and well-known enemy of freedom, donate to Grass Roots North Carolina, which is one of the nation's most active state-level RKBA organizations. I've been a member for years. Probably time to renew my membership, even though I now live in TN. Cheers, Whisper

I don't know anything about Illinois gun laws, but it seems to me likely that there's a process for having the FOID restored after it is cancelled. In this guy's case I'd think a mental evaluation would be a condition for getting his FOID back. So far there's no evidence that any process was followed; the cops just gave the guns back to the father (Why? It wasn't his property) and the father, despite saying he wouldn't give them to his son, did exactly that. Seems like the father should face some criminal and civil charges in Illinois, and whoever decided to return the guns to the father should be fired and permanently ineligible to work in law enforcement.

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/broward/article209619234.html While the enemies of freedom had their special snowflakes marching and whining in Washington last month, the NRA was raising a record $2.14 million -- $1.9 million of it from small donors. The NRA makes mistakes sometimes, but results like this are why left-wing authoritarians hate and fear the organization so much. I'm proud to have made my modest donation on March 24, and I am pleased that so many here at TGO did the same. Cheers, Whisper

Only two choices? What about the large number of handguns that are suitable for plinking but not durable enough for serious use, and aren't works of art? As for the 20-ounce limit, that will be tough or an all-metal gun, but there are the Kimber and Sig mini-1911s. Also the aluminum J frames. Hard to get more classic than a 1911 or an S&W revolver.

I don't believe any of them are talking about taking Rick out. I think they're talking about showing Rick he was wrong, and killing Negan themselves (not necessarily in that order).

We listened to the Mercury missions on the radio in my first grade class with Miss Brogden, who was keen on all things related to science. I was living in west Texas when JFK was killed, so of course it was big news there (also Governor Connally being shot was significant). But I was in the fourth grade then, meaning I'm a young guy, and not an ornery old geezer like bersaguy. Cheers, Whisper

I had just about given up on FTWD but this first episode of the new season brings new hope -- it's better than the original TWD now. And yes, Negan needs to be dead, and I fully support Maggie and Darryl in making that happen.
-
I imagine if Eugene had filled those .223 cases with Bullseye it would have been pretty hard on the rifles firing them -- and hard on the faces of those shooters. That scene was pretty much what I had expected we'd see. Now, as for Negan and his 1911 -- no matter what powder had been loaded into his .45 ACP cases, I think the bullet would have traveled quickly into Gabriel's head. Again, realism is not what you should anticipate if you're watching TWD.

Go to an auto parts store and get a small tub of molybdenum grease. It will cost you only a few dollars and will last you for many years. I've used it for probably the last two decades on every one of my guns. Cheers, Whisper

Non-Permissive Environments and Improvised Weapons
Whisper replied to TGO David's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
NC also. -
Yeah, they first encountered the Saviors in Season 6, when a group of them tried to hijack Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha, and Daryl killed them with an RPG. Time to finish the job.

Non-Permissive Environments and Improvised Weapons

I'm confident a tactical pen would be better than nothing in a fight, but carrying them is problematic. I say this as someone who flew routinely to unpleasant countries until just a few years ago. Any place you'd want to have them, the people running metal detectors and wands know what they are and will confiscate them. It doesn't help that almost all the manufacturers foolishly try to make them look as threatening as possible. A Zero F-701, which is a real pen and made of stainless steel, should be as good a weapon as any tactical pen, and if it gets confiscated by airport guards in Dirkadirkastan you're out only $9. I have no experience with the bulletproof backpack panels and folios, but I know of no one other than manufacturers who suggests that they have any value. I'd be interested to read some third-party assessments, if any exist. Cheers, Whisper -
I wish with all my heart that the NRA wouldn't make an endorsement in the FL senate campaign this year, or -- even better -- endorse the Libertarian. It would send the strongest possible message to Scott and other Republicans who pretend to care about the RKBA but are eager to sell us out at the first possible opportunity. Annoyed, Whisper

Dick's Getting Whacked, and Sales Sagging
Whisper replied to QuackerSmacker's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Damn, that's just...a shame. -
My guess is that Eugene is going to screw up the handloading process deliberately so the Saviors have little functioning ammo, thereby giving the Hilltop crowd the edge in the pending battle. This would also redeem Eugene in the eyes of Rick and company.
-
You might want to read some reviews of the Stinger. Oh, my. I don't need one, but I sure do want it.
-
Nope. As someone who started handloading in the late 1960s, I can assure you it's possible to learn it without Youtube or online forums. Books really do work. Cheers, Whisper

I have the BadAce Scout mount on my K31. It took about five minutes to mount and it is quite secure. My brother is using the same mount on his and we have had nothing but good results. You will want a cheek riser, but there are plenty of them around. Cheers, Whisper
