I saw a long discussion about this issue online yesterday, and about Benchmade agreeing to help the local police department destroy confiscated guns. It's pretty sad, and I'm not going to rehash the whole thing here -- you can read about it in other places, as Pickaroon says -- but I'll not be buying any more Benchmade products.

I had a .45 single action revolver that looked similar to photo #3. The cylinder was broken in half and top strap sheared off. I might still have some photos around somewhere. It was a startling experience. A piece of the cylinder hit my trigger finger, and the finger swelled up for a few days, but that was the only injury I suffered. The revolver, one of those Italian replicas that European American Armory used to import, was replaced under warranty.

It's Joe Bonnamassa. Also, add in Samantha Fish to this fine list. John Hiatt. Darrell Scott. For everyone who says "All the music today is crap," I have to respond that you're misinformed. There's plenty of good music being made today. You're just listening in the wrong places. Widen your perspective and you'll be amazed at what's out there.

If you want to get certified, Citizens Safety Academy in Murfreesboro is a good place. Aqil Qadir and Tiffany Johnson are members here at TGO. Tiffany can probably give you some recommendations for training in the Memphis area if Murfreesboro is farther than you want to travel. I received my instructor training from Aqil and Tiffany and I can attest that their classes are of of high quality. Cheers, Whisper

Good luck with that....

I have full-size M&P, M&P 2.0 Compact, plus M&P Shield (Shield not exactly a different version of the M&P since it won't share mags with the full-size). Also have VP9 and VP9SK. When the long-slide VP9 comes out later this year, I'm going to give it a hard look too. Cheers, Whisper

The gun looks like the National Match made by government armorers in the immediate postwar period, although I realize you said the uncle had it converted. If that's right, I'd say the previous $600-800 is right, depending on how the gun shoots. But check the stampings -- if it's a government-converted NM, it's got some collector value. I'd say these guys got the right idea about school shootings
Whisper replied to seez52's topic in General Chat
Well, they have some of the right ideas, but this quote from the school principal suggests he still needs much education: “But in general, I’d be a little bit hesitant to have an awful lot of people just walking around with a concealed weapon.” -
HK is indeed mighty slow in introducing new products. They test them long and hard before they're released. But...how often do you hear about them recalling their guns? The VP45 has been rumored for a while. The rumors of the long-slide VP9 have proven true, so maybe the VP45 is next. In the meantime, there's the HK45.... Cheers, Whisper

I'm confident the NRA is working with legislators to get bills introduced. As far as I know, the GOA has no staff working on anything at the state level. They do file some helpful lawsuits, though. I don't have a good sense of exactly what the TFA is doing as far as lobbying goes.

It does look interesting. Hope it's not $3,000....

Get your representative to introduce a bill. Without a bill coming to the floor for a vote, in both the House and Senate, nothing is changing.

Exactly how many rounds is the correct number to have in a self defense gun?

Websites can claim anything. Doesn't mean that any of it is true. Like Capbyrd says -- show me the data. Cheers, Whisper

Supreme Court agrees to hear gun rights case
Whisper replied to DaveTN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree the justices don't (and certainly shouldn't) answer to Trump, but the case does have a lot to do with Trump, since the two justices he has appointed to the court may determine the final ruling. And it's entirely possible Trump will get to choose a third justice. -
That sounds a lot like the old Winchester .351 Self-Loading, which is a genuine obscure caliber these days.

Supreme Court agrees to hear gun rights case
Whisper replied to DaveTN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Agreed. Trump works hard to think of stupid and pointless things he can do to alienate voters, but if his Supreme Court picks can demonstrate some respect for the Constitution, it will make up for a lot. -
Theoretically, I guess that could be right. But, for this particular gun to be the answer to the question, it would have to be in a jurisdiction that bans semiautos but allows detachable box magazines. Is there such a place?

Mil spec on a GI rifle is 4.5-5.5 pounds. Certainly it could be true that all the M16s you were ever issued had triggers outside of spec, but that doesn't change the point I was making: Who wants a fighting rifle with a 6.5-pound trigger?
-
If it genuinely doesn't harness energy from the fired cartridge in any way, it will be interesting to see what the lawyers say about it. But think about this: A decent AR will have a trigger less than 4 pounds. A really nice one will go much less. The best handgun DAO trigger I know of (Kellerman) is about 6.5 pounds. Do you want a fighting rifle with a 6.5-pound trigger? All this is just speculation, of course, and I guess we'll just have to see what happens when it's officially revealed. Maybe it will be cool.
-
If it uses gas or mechanical energy to cycle the action and eject the case, I'm guessing this will legally be considered a semi-automatic rifle. From reading the description, it's not clear to me this this is anything other than a DAO rifle.

Virginia State Senator and Gun Legistation
Whisper replied to owejia's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Although I would have some philosophical questions about the intent of such a bill, I get your point. And your question -- Why does TN, with a Republican supermajority, have no legislators with a genuine commitment to RKBA? -- is an excellent one. TN is one of the states where freedom should be advancing, but that's not happening.
