  1. Answer the phone and tell them you're not giving until Wayne is gone and the bylaws are amended. They'll stop calling after hearing that a couple of times.
  2. GOA and the Second Amendment Foundation and Firearms Policy Coalition are all doing useful work. Unfortunately, they each have about 200 members, none of them is doing any lobbying at the state level, and none of them has the networking strength to put on rallies or to mobilize voters in large groups. Only the NRA can do that. But until the NRA cleans house and becomes an organization of which gun owners can be proud, it doesn't deserve our support any more. Let's build up the other organizations and hope that they'll someday have the strength to do what the NRA should be doing. And try to rebuild the NRA, minus the corruption and compromising.
  3. I'm a member of GOA and FPC. Probably should renew my JPFO membership.
  4. I've been a Life member since the 1970s and a regular ILA donor for decades. I don't favor giving them another dollar until Wayne is gone and the bylaws are amended to prevent the corruption that's going on now.
  5. Looking from the first post up to where we are at this point, I think we have a clear nominee for Thread Drift of the Year.
  6. The NRA needs to reincorporate in another state where there's an attorney general interested in something other than politically motivated prosecutions. It also needs different leadership and a board of directors of about 25 members, and strong bylaws against self-dealing. I'd upgrade my Endowment membership and resume regular donations to the ILA if that happened.
  7. There's no question this suit was brought for political motives by an attorney general who ran for office on a platform of attacking the NRA. She was going to charge them with something even if she had to make it up. And it's certainly no accident that the charges were brought in the same week that the NRA announced it would be spending "tens of millions" in the coming election. That said, Wayne LaPierre and his co-conspirators gave her the opening for bringing these charges by committing crimes.
  8. I do believe it's an advantage to be white in this country. It probably isn't in Namibia or Thailand, but it is here. In any country where there's a dominant majority of any sort (ethnic, religious, political, whatever) there is discrimination against minorities. Being a member of the majority group helps avoid that discrimination and is thus advantageous.
  9. Just one more.... https://archive.org/details/JOHNNY_WINTER_Mean_Town_Blues_1969_Woodstock Cheers, Whisper
  10. It's always a good day for listening to Johnny Winter. Here's a great example. From about 1:20 onward, I doubt there's anyone else who could every play this.
  11. They claim to hold a top BBB rating but the BBB website says: We’re sorry, we found no results for for "onlinegunsshop.com" in"Lafayette, LA" Caveat emptor, Whisper
  12. Gerber does indeed make an unserrated version of this -- in fact, I'm pretty sure the original Mark II was unserrated -- but over the years there have been far more of the serrated versions produced. Look on eBay and the knife auction sites and you can still find unserrated ones.
  13. You have chosen well and you will love it. This is the finest small 9mm available, I believe. Hope one comes your way soon.
  14. Over the years there have been many small projects for which I've thought, "I wish I had a drill press for that." And there are some projects over the years that I've done with a hand electric drill or a Dremel that I should have done with a drill press. Now, as I am thinking seriously about getting a stamp and making my own suppressor from a kit, I've decided it's also time to get a tabletop drill press, not just for gun projects but for general use. I see there are tons of them around, but I have no idea of the relative quality. Any recommendations? I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't want a piece of junk. Thanks, Whisper
  15. Note especially the durability section and which red dots they report with "no failures."
  16. Keep watching GB. Like Grayfox54 said, they have parts for the plastic SIGs come up. I've bought interesting things a couple of times. They're not on there constantly, but keep checking.
  17. I agree that a handgun is best because it can be carried at all times, but for most people needing a long arm for defensive purposes, I think a shotgun is best. While I understand the attractiveness of recommending a battle rifle like the AR-10, it requires a reasonable amount of training to use an AR-10 effectively at close quarters, and when you start talking about shooting people at ranges of many hundreds of yards, you're no longer talking about self defense.
  18. Maybe. Depends on how the election turns out.
  19. +1 on The Safe House. They also sell used safes and occasionally have scratch-and-dent sales. I'm a satisfied customer and would buy from them again.
  20. Welcome. I was a member of the DPRC in the 1980s, back when they had the old range inside the city limits. I moved when the current range was under construction.
  21. Well, I'm sure the GOP believes it will encourage more poor people to vote, but I'm not convinced that's the case, and I've not seen any studies that support the theory. As mentioned earlier, voting by mail may increase turnout among the elderly, and the older the voter, the more likely it's a GOP vote.
  22. Let me get this straight --you're talking about selling ammo after you've already bought it? How would that even work?
  23. Nutjobs on both the left and the right are warning that the evil "other side" won't accept the results of the election and suggesting that perhaps one should buy ammo. Meanwhile, as Ronald_55 just noted, anyone who was paying attention has been laying up supplies for years....
  24. I think the full-auto versions have a pull start, don't they?
  25. I'm really thinking about a Bane mask (the Batman villain) to wear to the office. Too bad the cheapest decent-looking ones are $40. Cheers, Whisper
