  1. I greatly admire your skill in figuring out and correcting all the problems with this gun. Thanks for sharing what you've learned. I'll still not likely buy one because I have too many incomplete gun projects already, but even so.... With respect, Whisper
  2. I've always been interested in the old 1877s but have never read anything from someone who has figured out how to work on them. Thanks for sharing your insights, xtriggerman. Cheers, Whisper
  3. Sig did have some early problems with the P365, compounded by the fact that at first they tried to pretend there were no problems. But I believe they're all straightened out now, and the P365 is now my top choice when I can't carry a larger gun. Plenty of gun manufacturers have problems with the first-year run of new models. This includes Springfield (see the XDS.) Cheers, Whisper
  4. Try this one: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/reuters/ Or this: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/newsnation/
  5. Nice.
  6. Sad story. You can do gun deals arranged online, but you need to exercise some selectivity (buyers from TGO are generally a trustworthy group). Don't do deals at night, and meet in a public place like a gun store parking lot or a police dept parking lot (several depts maintain places for Craig's List transactions and whatnot). I'm sorry for this guy and his family.
  7. Actually, that's not correct. California did "grandfather in" possession of existing normal magazines when they passed the ban on sales of new ones, and when the ban was temporarily suspended by the courts, those Californians who wisely hastened to buy regular mags were allowed to keep them when the ban was reimposed. Outright bans and confiscation of guns or magazines, without any grandfathering, would unquestionably produce a flurry of lawsuits under the "takings clause" of the Fifth Amendment. Few governments want to incur the expense that would entail. But of course, tyrants wanna tyrannize, so you never know for sure.... Cheers, Whisper
  8. Regular capacity magazines were grandfathered during the Clinton gun ban but no one has any idea what will get passed by the current Congress. Beto and some others have made clear their desire for confiscation, but I doubt most Dems think they could get that passed. And, in case of another high-cap ban, likely you could still carry your G19 -- you'd just have to use a neutered 10-round mag.
  9. I have a gun restoration project going on and need someone to do some parkerizing. I took the gun to one of the large local stores here in Nashville and they not only informed me that they don't do parkerizing or bluing, they claimed no one in Middle TN is doing it. No one does anything but durakote or cerakote, they said. Can this be true? No gunsmith in Middle TN does bluing or parkerizing? Thanks, Whisper
  10. Maybe Mr. Robinson has a brother or sister we could convince to move to Tennessee and run for office here.
  11. This is Mark Robinson. He just took office this month as lieutenant governor of North Carolina. He rose to public prominence largely on the strength of this appearance before the Greensboro City Council.
  12. It's hard to believe there isn't someone in TN who can do basic work like this. But if you can't find anyone, I had a first-year 686 rebarreled by Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte, NC, back when I lived there, and they did a fine job. Cheers, Whisper
  13. In Tennessee, people can justifiably use deadly force to defend themselves or others if they believe there is an imminent threat of death or serious injury. There is no duty to retreat from your home. Do you believe the intruder in your home poses a threat of death of serious injury? Then you are legally justified in using deadly force to prevent that death or injury. You cannot use deadly force to prevent the intruder from walking out the door with your 4K UHD television.
  14. I have two. I bought the lowers and built them up with parts kits. One is a .300 AAC and one is a .223. They don't see heavy use but both have worked flawlessly and are a few years old. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Here's one of them -- a .223 built for my daughter. I don't think Magpul makes pink furniture any more, and maybe TN Arms Co doesn't make pink receivers any more, but I enjoyed building this one for her. The other one is black and looks just like any other AR. Cheers, Whisper
  15. Beware. There are many sight pushers out there, and a lot of them are junk. I've broken two sighttool.com pushers before I admitted they are trash. And I've ruined some sights with one of the Sight Masters. Other of the various universal sight pushers might or might not work depending on how tight the sights are. The pushers I've had the best luck with are the MGW models that are specific to the gun. Those babies work -- they are real tools, not something that someone cobbled up in his garage. Hope this helps, Whisper
  16. A point that needs to be made often. Thank you.
  17. Ray, Colt resumed selling the AR-15 to the public back in June. https://www.guns.com/news/2020/06/29/colt-now-shipping-ar-15s-to-consumers-again
  18. This was not a scenario of being cool-headed. A guy blew his horn and you escalated the situation. Nothing cool-headed about that. This guy of course bears the responsibility of escalating things way out of proportion, and your warning to him may have created enough of a break in the cycle of escalation that you didn't have to shoot him. You deserve credit for that. But what if you'd broken the cycle of escalation earlier by not flipping the guy off? The fact that you're analyzing the situation now for lessons to be learned is also a plus. As always -- observe, learn, and move on. Cheers, Whisper
  19. More people carry red dots on defensive pistols every day. This is not an accident. Nobody I know claims that red dots are the perfect answer for everyone, but you owe it to yourself to try them out. I know more than a couple of experienced shooters who once said "This is a fad and will pass" who now say "I was wrong." Cheers, Whisper
  20. Affirmative. Appropriately judicious use of the ban hammer always produces beneficial results. Cheers, Whisper
  21. Jeeze, I was going to pass this thread by without comment until he chimed in and I saw what a crybaby he is. Count me in for covering part of the refund. Send PM to let me know my proportional share. Cheers, Whisper
  22. Yeah, maybe. But maybe they call him "President Trump" because he's already president.
  23. Count me in. Venmo forthcoming.
  24. Trump could in fact do something like this amnesty if he cared about the RKBA. But he's never shown any sign that he does, and I doubt he's going to start now.
  25. HK VP9, Olight, and a Swiss Army knife, because if you don't own either a Swiss Army or a Boy Scout knife, you're probably a communist.
