  1. The Supreme Court ruling is already changing restrictions. The attorney generals of California and New Jersey have already issued formal opinions that their states' "good cause" provisions for carrying a concealed weapon are unconstitutional and cause may no longer be considered when reviewing concealed carry applications. We're essentially certain to see lawsuits against states with less restrictive laws, including Tennessee. You're right that the fight is not over, but the SC ruling is already providing positive results for the pro-freedom movement, and I expect it will for years to come. The tyrants are going to be drowned in lawsuits, and I am thrilled. Cheers, Whisper
  2. I'm confident that all of the facts in the case aren't public, which is the situation in almost every controversy. So I agree with you on that. But that's vastly different from claiming that "Jan. 6 was a setup."
  3. I don't agree on this. I think yesterday's Supreme Court ruling is going to provoke a flurry of lawsuits against existing gun laws and that new laws will all be subject to careful scrutiny. There are elements of the current gun bill (dealing with mental health and juvenile criminal records) that actually might be helpful, and I'm thinking now that the egregious elements of any new gun law will be vigorously contested. Our gun rights organizations will have fertile ground for potential lawsuits. It's a great day in America. Cheers, Whisper
  4. Take a look at CNN. They are moaning, wailing, rending their garments and predicting the end of the world. Absolutely hilarious. Cheers, Whisper
  5. There's been tons written on this subject already, and rather than rehash it all, I'll just pose a couple questions: 1. You're right that there haven't been reports of this happening with military models. Have you heard reports of accidental discharges from the many thousands of these things in the civilian market? (I haven't.) Maybe there's a hint there. 2. If you were a cop and you negligently discharged your P320, would you own up to your mistake and take whatever disciplinary action might be handed down, or would you say the gun was defective?
  6. Nice idea, but Lake City ammo is more than just a label on the box. Lake City has its own headstamps on the cartridge cases. No one will be changing those easily.
  7. I've worked on this same problem, with no success. Probably going to go for an optic of some type on mine. Cheers, Whisper
  8. Actually, I'm not sure the feds would need to be involved in managing reciprocity -- your driver's license works perfectly well in Tennessee and in 2A hellholes like Massachusetts or California without any federal involvement. Looser NFA laws would be great, but we weren't able to get that under a Republican administration and we sure won't get it now. Cheers, Whisper
  9. Sorry, but this isn't the start of taking everything -- it's just the latest step. Taking everything dates back to the time of the National Coalition to Ban Handguns and similar groups that were open and honest about their desire to felonize gun ownership. That didn't fly, so they've taken the incrementalist approach: working in small steps, to trim away this right, then another, before eventually arriving at what they wanted -- total bans. That said, there are some legislative steps that can be taken to improve safety. Nobody wants violent people with serious mental illnesses to have access to guns, but proposals that focus on reasonable steps like that are almost always rejected by organizations for whom gun bans, not protecting society, are the real goal. I'm going to hope that some of the mental health proposals of this new batch of laws will help protect public safety without reducing the rights of the law-abiding, but given the fact that it's not what some of the supporters really want, I'll remain skeptical.
  10. Good luck with your search, Ropin4gold. I've been looking for the same thing for more than a year now with no luck. A decent quality used 48-incher is rarer than an honest politician. Cheers, Whisper
  11. There's a strong case to be made for the importance of trade schools, and they're a great path for many people. But I think you're painting with a mighty broad brush regarding the motivation of kids getting liberal arts degrees. As someone who's worked on a college campus for more than a few years, I would argue that kids majoring in mechanical engineering or biochemistry are vastly different from kids majoring in dance theory or French food.
  12. Send me a PM. I have coffee cans full of .45 brass, far more than I will use in this lifetime, and can share. I'm not shipping it or driving from Chattanooga to Mt. Juliet to deliver, but we can probably work out something. Cheers, Whisper
  13. Anthony's Armory quotes transfers at $25 per serial number, plus the $10 NCIS fee, which is good for multiple purchases at one time. Seems fair to me. Thanks, Whisper
  14. Does this business have a name? I'd be interested in checking. Thanks, Whisper
  15. Somebody's tinfoil hat is way too tight. There's no question that the victim disarmament lobby will use this tragedy to their advantage, but asserting that the government planned this is getting into the Alex Jones region of insanity. Whisper
  16. Anybody know who has the best gun transfer fees in Chattanooga? I regularly used Phil at Bellshire Hardware when I lived in Nashville, and I had no problems with him or his costs. I expect there's probably a cooperative small shop here in Chattanooga that doesn't try to rape customers over transfer fees, but I haven't been able to find one yet, and I've identified a couple of out-of-town guns that need me to buy them. Your recommendations appreciated. Thanks, Whisper
  17. I've read enough by now to be convinced that relocation won't be my policy. I have obtained a Havahart trap and any coons I catch in it will not need relocation above ground. Thanks for the discussion, Whisper
  18. Actually, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I'm not very imaginative. And buying a Havahart trap would probably be cheaper than a new large-caliber air rifle. Although I have nothing against buying a new large-caliber air rifle.... Thanks, Whisper
  19. I need to shoot some destructive raccoons around my house and would like to do so quietly. My RWS Diana has proven handy for dispatching squirrels but I'm concerned it's too light for raccoon work. I want the coon to be dead right there and not to linger and die a painful death. Can anyone recommend an air rifle that's stout enough for raccoon elimination duty? Thanks, Whisper
  20. If you don't need magnification, it's hard to go wrong with the Aimpoint PRO. Cheers, Whisper
  21. Welcome. There's a ton of useful information here for new shooters. Enjoy. Cheers, Whisper
  22. Non-residents can carry concealed in Mississippi but there are many restrictions on where you can carry (similar to TN's laws regarding permitless carry and enhanced carry). Look at some MS state government websites for more details. Hope this helps, Whisper
  23. While you're mentioning the price, knowing calibers would be good, too. These things were made in .22LR. .22WMR, .222, .223, and .410, 20-ga, and 12-ga, and maybe more I'm not thinking of right now. Thanks, Whisper
  24. Looks interesting...and somewhat like that new Savage straight-pull bolt action, the Impulse.
  25. I listened. It's worth your time. Cheers, Whisper
