1981 Porsche 924 Pretty much just like this, same color and all only in left hand drive as you would expect. Got it at an auction, the odometer had stopped working at 189k! Had it for about 5 months before it was time to let it go, since during that 5 months it ran for about half the time. Just couldn't keep fixing it... =( That was a good time though, cause I grew up in the sticks so the all the girls at school thought I was the man!

Ummmm.... no. If it weren't for America, you aholes would be speaking German. Those of you left to work in their camps that is. /rant

Yeah, that was my thought.... They put people who obviously are beginners in the mix with attackers who are at least moderately trained. I don't think that would be a fair representation. Especially if the attackers knew who to gun for from the get go. This sort of setting does seem, if it were handled a little differently, like it would be a good training tool for students that are seeking to carry. Not in place of working on the fundamentals at a range, but in addition to. So that the first time you find your self needing to actually shoot in defense isn't the first time you've shot under stress at moving targets that shoot back. Do any of the schools around here do something similar?

Saw this when I was browsing YouTube.... Hope it's not a repost. I thought it was an unrealistic test given the retards they had in the test just stood up and didn't take cover AT ALL... but... What's your thoughts?

jon boat for the Caney and maybe the Harpeth
SupaRice replied to red dirt's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Canoe is a good choice, but I have a kayak. I got a Jackson Coosa, it'll draft in INCHES of water! And I can very easily stand to fish from it. I fish pretty much anywhere out of it. This one is on the expensive side ( a gift from my wife for our anniversery, I wasn't going to buy it for myself), but BassPro sells a line of Ascend Kayaks that are 9/10'ths as good for 1/2 the cost. I fish the Harpeth and S. Harpeth all the time! -
Thanks for sharing, kick ass and come home safe!

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the input so far. As far as the looks of the weapon, I'm not too worried about that. Dead men tell no tales, so there will only be my side of the story. And if they are in my house, I'd say that's a pretty clear cut case. Also, I'm not as concerned with cost as much as quality. *Within reason* I'm not going to spend $2,000 on a shotgun, but I DO want whatever I get to WORK.
-
Why is it that almost all of the Defense / Tactical shotguns I look at are pump? I know some people say, the sound of a pump will scare someone out of your house... I'm not in that camp. If it comes time for me to pick it up, there will be blood. Plus, I want the ability to send follow up shots or engage multiple targets quickly. I mean, by now, surely semi-auto guns are just as reliable and jam free as a pump right? Thoughts? What's your favorite semi-auto shotgun?

+1 Me too! =( Also, not sure I really want an yard ornament either. Most of the "hardcore" rigs sit in someone's yard 90% of their life.
-
That would be free market enterprise.... they don't want that. Tons-o-fun gave that dark haired hippy girl a beat down, trailer park style!

There are basically two groups in offroading, hardcore 'wheelers and the trail riding crowd. Hardcore guys will mostly build a rig, and the trail riders have mostly stock vehicles... maybe a winch bumper and some tires. The hardcore guys will wheel the crap out of their rig and the trail riding guys are afraid of scratches. These are your stock Jeep, Toyota and Land Rover types. TN Offroad gathers the majority of the local crowd 'wheelers. Most of them don't care about TOR's reliability issues since they don't hit the internet all that often anyway, and when they do they are mostly just on looking to buy, sell, or trade parts. The hardcore guys who do hit the forums regularly frequent Pirate4x4. That's the main offroad site for all things hardcore/build related. I think you have a good shot at making a viable local forum with the trail riding group, a lot of them will be on the major Jeep/Offroad forums but would probably love a local site. Those guys like to get out in big groups and go riding too, so that's a good way for them to meet and organize. I know that there is a Nissan Xterra forum that is big around here, and they organize a yearly tour of the Smyrna plant and then a trail ride at I think Wooly's. That might be a good group to hook up with too. Good luck!

I wonder if it still works with a suppressor on your weapon.

Thoughts? I've heard of this before: Sniper Detectors Coming To America's Heartland | Fox News

OK.... Help a n00b out.... What is impressive about that video other than the idiocy of the guy with the shovel sitting there?

Is it true that some states REQUIRE you to disclose it up front, and they can charge you for not doing so?

+1 From personal experience I can say that if you are in a SD situation, you definitely want to be the first one to call. I wouldn't state anything more than what would otherwise be obvious, like "i was just involved in a shooting in which I had to defend myself please send the police (or tell me where to meet them)".... but you want to be the first one to call. No offense, but I would say that is a bit naive. At least on the "attack me in public" part. I agree that the home break-in would be a pretty clear cut case, though I wouldn't take the chance in either scenario and start laying down a statement without my lawyer. You've got to remember that the investigating officer, while they have a great deal of influence on the matter I'm sure, doesn't have the final say in what happens to you. The DA could decide to charge you with something, even if it's not recommended by the officer. That happens. And it sucks. Because you'll be spending a TON of cash on lawyers and possibly some time in jail trying to DEFEND yourself all over again, when you were the victim to begin with. And they don't reimburse you for your legal expenses when you're found innocent. Nor time you spent out of work, etc.... I respect the law, and those who enforce it. I also admire the ones that do the best they can with such a difficult job. I won't trust my fate to someone I don't know just because they have a badge.

Here's my Dodge Power Wagon: '06 35" DuraTrac Tires Leveling lift Stock Warn winch Stock lockers F&R Stock 456 gears Stock skids and rock rails Stock sway bar disconnect (like the Rubicon Jeeps) Got some new parts laying on the workbench that need to go on.... No time these days for anything! :\ A video of my buddy and I at Wheelin In The Country a little while ago: Dodge Ram Power Wagon 4x4 Offroad Mudding And Rock Crawling - YouTube And my Jeep TJ that I sold just recently. Too many toys, and needed to get a new ride for the wife with our son on the way. His car seat didn't really fit too well in the backseat of her WRX. Had 35" ProComp MT D44 rear with air locker D30 front with aussie locker 4" lift TerraFlex belly up skid Bunch of other stuff.... Here's the new mom rig.... Tires and lift to come in the next month.

Agreed... in the situations where I'll need my secondary... Prone isn't an option.
-
I was thinking of having a chest cross draw for the secondary for two reasons: Easier to get to in a vehicle And wearing cold weather/wet weather clothing, allows it to be easier to access Thought?

+1 On what poak said. The situation will dictate what is needed. With that in mind, stay prepared with enough provisions to ride out the initial chaos. Have a plan to get mobile in a hurry, and a couple of specific familiar places to go. Places that are familiar to you, and not a whole lot of other people. Parks are out, everyone else knows them just as well as you. Pack light and move fast when needed. I've got a wife and a little one to protect and provide for too, so that's a consideration as well. They may not be able to tough it out as long as I can or move as quick. As long as we can stay hidden in the wilderness, we'll be fine. Cause I can catch, kill, and cook anything with hair, legs, or fins. So a country boy can survive.

In a self defense shooting... I wouldn't obstruct their investigation, and would be cooperative.... But I wouldn't say any more than the dead guy until I got a lawyer. That's just me though.
