  1. Just on a hand held selfie-style monopod with an adjustable head. A couple of those videos actually came from my Samsung S6 Active...
  2. "Can't out-fox a fox" Very hard to trap.... not impossible though.
  3. I'm loving the GoPro! Took my 3yo fishing with my buddy yesterday, and was able to get some decent video even with keeping track of a 3yo boy at the river! Hehe Fishing South Harpeth River: https://youtu.be/paQ-qz-hkT0
  4. Never been, on the list! Share pics if you score!
  5. Good point.... I'm mainly wanting something easy to carry that I can use to take good pics and videos of my kiddos.... park, zoo, scootering, beach... yada yada. Something better than the phone camera, but not a DSLR... too big and expensive. I might be getting the Sony QX30.... more I read the more I like it.   Hopefully get a GoPro before hunting season maybe.
  6. Yeah, I'm really torn... I know the gopro would be more versatile in general due to it being waterproof.... but I bet this would take better pictures
  7. Thoughts on this? Seems pretty cool. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1085783-REG/kodak_sl25_bk_sl25_smartphone_lens_with.html Sony makes one too, which looks a little more compact, but doesn't seem to have as nice of a software interface. I pretty much only use my phone to capture the moments of my kiddos at this point, and don't desire to lug around a big DSLR. I'm at a crossroads about something like this vs a GoPro. I've had iPhone and now have a Galaxy S5 active (spend a lot of time fishing and like the waterproof), bit the camera is just plain slow... and I know it's just a phone... but it doesn't handle HDR situations well at all (neither does my wife's iPhone 6 really) I like the zoom... and I suspect that it would do better in challenging light situations than a GoPro. Have any of you ever used one of these?
  8. There are the reverse draw bows, more compact and supposedly better in almost every way. Supposed to be quieter, and stonger. But they're typically more expensive, I think Barnett has a reasonably priced one now. I've had two bows, both entry price Barnett... read cheap.... I've found good quality bolts make a big difference in accuracy. But even though I've always had the cheapest bows.... with each one I've had, I'd feel confident taking a shot on a deer to about 50yds. And have taken a couple at that distance. I even did a clean up shot at that distance, was hunting with a friend (we were sitting close since it was his first hunt) and he made a bad shot, i hit the buck running right through the lungs at about 40yds... dropped 30 feet from there. They're deadly when you get them sighted in and use a good bolt!
  9. Did he build the house over this!? I mean, how in the world do you get a tank into a basement!?
  10. Nitro Piston Benjamin Trail Get it in .22, and buy a decent scope frim like Centerpoint (also crossman). I have one and I'm good with it on small critters out to 40yds.
  11. I've got a 2014 EcoBoost, it's got plenty of power and pulls like a mule for standard duty (boat, trailer, etc). If you're looking to pull a large load or on a regular basis buy a Cummins.
  12. I know some places make stipulations about "out of reach" but that in a pickup, they can go either way since even in my crew cab... everything is "within reach"....   Mainly concerned about that part. I know some states make allowance for pickups or other vehicles without a trunk.
  13. Going to Bama for the weekend, I have a HCP for TN... so I'm good on that front. But I want to bring my AR with me. What's the best source of current information on lawful carry of a long gun, in a pickup (in the cab so accessible) in TN and AL?   Didn't know if there was anything funny about it.   I'm assuming, of course, unloaded.... Unloaded mags? Ammo in a separate container?   Googling took me to state law PDF's that are 1,000 pages long..... ugh.. :surrender:
  14. No. I've had them all. Prolly the best "cheap" one I've had was the Primos I got on sale with a "rebate" that I've still not gotten after 2 months. The main problem with the cheap ones is the trigger time. Which, might not be a problem for you. A lot of what I do with them is track predators, and they don't stay still long. So you need it to snap that pic or video within .5 second of ir trigger. Also, the cheap ones (wild game inovation for example) will have a red glow and possibly even make sounds on camera trigger which makes for good portraits, but no return visitors. The best one I've found thus far is the StealthCam G42 I'm testing in the backyard now. Got it shipped online for around $125. Check out some of the coyotes I caught in my backyard in green hills with it: https://youtu.be/ktEE_y2CC3I
  15. Well... patience and persistence.   https://youtu.be/HUNb6otKCvs     And.... his pal.   http://youtu.be/uEhiCo5F2-Y
  16. Thanks for posting that... That's a whole lot of hateful bullet expansion!
  17. Did you take a pic of that bullet? Would be very interested in seeing it. Nice shootin!
  18. In the middle of Green Hills.... ? This guy is a soldier!   https://youtu.be/k1_XLBtbDso
  19. I mainly go to fish, I have a Jackson Coosa (made here in TN!) and LOVE IT. ....  That said, mine was one of the first runs they made.... now they make all kinds of fishing yaks. The bees knees IMO for fishing is the Jackson Big Rig.... OH MAN!  I'd have one, but my Coosa does just fine and ..... it was an anniversary present from my wife.   Check this bad boy out.... http://jacksonkayak.com/blog/kayak/big-rig/   I echo the figure out what sort of yak you need though.... My boat is miserable on the lake, but I take it out there often anyway. I've even taken my Coosa through the waves and offshore while in Florida (in hindsight, probably not the best idea but I've spent a lot of time in it and handle the boat well so I made it ok) Most of the fishing style boats are made for skinny water, like what we have an abundance of in middle TN. However, if you want to just cruise the rivers and maybe the lake here and there, you'll want something with a bit more gitty'up. I'd suggest looking at the one man canoe route also. They're pretty utilitarian... camp out of it, carry your dog, fish, whatever.... And they have more speed than a fishing type boat. Plus it's easy to add a car battery and a trolling motor to jet up river and then float back down if you want, or just get out on the lake and not spend a lot of sweat getting away from the glitter rockets.   These are nice: http://www.oldtowncanoe.com/canoes/next/
  20. I've found them in the middle of Green Hills, even so crazy as 1 block from Hillsboro High School... You ain't gotta look too far....
  21. A great spot is the section of the Harpeth by Tip-a-canoe. There's a section where you can basically put in and walk back from the take out. Making it easy to do by yourself if you have a kayak cart (recommended regardless). Plus it's probably the highest traffic area of the local rivers which is a good thing when your starting out. Put in: http://goo.gl/maps/s1mS6 Take out: http://goo.gl/maps/H157o PFD, GET ONE. WEAR IT. I have personally saved my life with mine. I have witnessed one save my friend when I couldn't get to him in time.
  22. Air rifle time....
  23. Man, they better have the best lawyers on the planet.         Reminds me of this....   https://youtu.be/er13RjMS_VM
  24. Educate me.... I'm confused.   Why would (at least for personal defense carry) 2 feet of penetration be a good thing? If I've got 2' of bad john for my bullets to penetrate... then he's fat enough I can get away from him.   Like JAB, I don't envision a scenario where I'm "defending" myself or someone else and having to send rounds through car doors and walls.   Is it possible? I suppose.    Likely? No.   I'm certainly not the most experienced member on this site, but seems to me in a personal defense situation.... My JHP rounds that will disperse the bulk of their energy inside at least the first 12" would be preferred. Causing massive trauma in 80% of the area you shot lands in would be pretty damn debilitating.   No?
  25.   BOOOOOYAAAAHHHHH!!!   Awesome, buying like 10 before they outlaw them! haha
