  1. Anyone know how the traffic is coming from the North because of Friday's tanker explosion?
  2. Thanks! I knew about that, but I was wondering more specifically about holidays themselves.
  3. Got the replacement today; much better  :pleased: . The product box itself wasn't sealed - there wasn't a sign of a sticker ever being put on the box from the factory - but all the components were included and the optic switch was much better. It still has a small amount of play, but that's probably normal (certainly will make using the switch easier with gloves on).
  4. Anyone know what the annual holiday schedule is for the range?
  5. Yeah, I'm referring to the intensity switch having a little play. The set screws seem to be tight and the switch has very positive clicks (it's just that the switch knob is a little loose). Bought it from Optics Planet. The box wasn't sealed and the battery was missing, but the sight looked fine.   EDIT: I just called John at Aimpoint and he said as long as the switch functions properly and there aren't any issues under fire, I should be good to go. I may just exchange it as the looseness will probably bug me in truth.
  6. Hey all,    My Aimpoint arrived this evening  :hyper:  Question: how loose is the switch knob supposed to be? Mine is a little loose/has a little play.
  7. Well, the beastie performed very well on it's christening day :) The Troy battle sights are quite nice, although I hope to have an optic soon.
  8.   Pretty ridiculous. I think this is a fair picture of their service policy -->   :bat:   I think next time I go - if there is a next time - I will say something.           Yup, paid this today. Still worth it I feel. Great place, great owners, and scenic drive to boot.
  9. I'll be checking this place out around 3:45 today. Nashville Armory had a 1.5 hour wait and the range area staff had the typical "I hate the world" demeanor.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10.   It's really not that bad; probably looking at an average price of ~$20-50/bottle for a fair amount of good bourbon/rye whiskeys.
  11. Thanks guys!
  12. How does paying at the range work? Who do I give the funds to for day shooting or for the annual pass?
  13. Yeah, I'm definitely not missing the mileage loss from the extra power :D This thing is so much fun to drive.
  14. Well, I had an unfortanate mishap on the 25th of February and totaled my 2011 Optima. Found a good replacement though: 2003 Infiniti G35 w/81,000 miles.
  15.     See if the local shop has it's own blends you can buy samples of. Most of the aromatics are a safe bet when starting out. I've noticed the English blends are a little darker and spicier. No ones complained about the smell with either.  :)
  16. Beautiful Stanwell!
  17. :grouchy: "Ok weapons check. Pull out those knives."   :pleased:  "Does my cleaver count?"   :stunned:  "Wait, what??"
  18. I keep hearing that as well. Added to the list.
  19.   I've had the awesome 10 year (Original), but I hear the 18 year is quite good.   EDIT: Oh, and I've had some of the wine-finished bottlings...not much of a fan of those.
  20. I haven't yet! I've had numerous opportunities to grab a bottle, but have picked something else :shake: . It's still on my list and if I can find one, I'll grab it. I may also have the opportunity to grab a bottle of the recent Cardeas (port finish). I tried a little from a friend's stock and it was ridiculous.
  21. Quite! Sadly, I am out of every single one of those at the moment...not good.   I think the Lagavulin is the classiest standard bottle from the Islay region. I like the peaty citrus notes in the Ardbeg and the roasted/smoked cereal notes in the Laphroaig. The Laga tends to blend various things extremely well, but lacks the punch I tend to want in my peat stacks in the winter. But, it will always have an open spot in my cabinet whenever I have the urge to take it home. I'll just have to keep it away from the Ardbeg; that one always wants to fight.    PS - Yes on grilled salmon pairing!!  :yum:
  22. ^ Nothing wrong with Jack's Single Barrel. I've got my cabinet staple shopping list for this year:   · Ardbeg 10 year · Balvenie 14 year · Bushmills 21 year · Clynelish 14 year · Dalmore 12/15 year · Glenlivet 16 year · Highland Park 18 year · Lagavulin 16 year* · Laphroaig 10 year CS
  23. Thanks all :)     Yeah, I had to use an adjustable wrench at the time. Not a big deal though; the minor marks don't really bug me (especially on a non-showroom firearm).
  24.   The holographic red dots? In consideration. I've now looked through/played with the Vortex Strikefire, Redfield Counterstrike, Aimpoint PRO, and EOTech XPS2. Trying to decide between the Aimpoint and the EOTech; I like them both fairly equally.   UPDATE: I'm actually leaning towards the Leupold AR MOD 1 1.5-4x20 with the Firedot reticle. Not running and gunning with the rifle and seems to be easier on my eyes/head regarding angle. I can always add an RDS down the road.
  25. I'm looking at adding one of those in addition to my M&P. How do you like it so far?
