  1. i went down that side road and saw 3 buildings. marine something and automotive something i think and a green building to the right behing one of the other buildings without any signage and a lack of cars around. I guess i just go to hear-gear if he is still shut down.
  2. I was on my way to CRC today and i figured i would stop by skips to check it out and see about a lower ar. I saw the sign on the door of the old shop next to the fire hall with the new address and directions. so I/we drive up the road where the directions say to go. we turned off to a side street where google maps says 10338 Lee Highway Ooltewah, TN 37363 is. either we are blind or complete idiots! neither my friend or I saw any form of a sign leading us to the new building or a sign on a building. where is skips!
  3. thanks! i sent skip an e-mail fri and have not heard back from him. i just havent had time to get up there and ask him about it. you got luck on that price for a spikes tactical they went up to around 170 the week of the election for a stripped lower.
  4. i figured out the spikes part. (been drooling over a lower with bullet markings and the logo colored with a flag etched on the other side for a while) but who did you use for the FFl or do you have your own FFL?
  5. Those of you in the Chattanooga area where did you get your lowers from? And if you don't mind me asking how much?
  6. The vortex looks interesting. I will look more into that one. thanks guys! I really want an Eothech but I cant justify that right now maybe after an AR build
  7. I have a cheap BSA 30MM red dot on my cx4 storm (9mm). I am on my 2nd BSA and this one is about to tear up. luckily I only paid for one the warranty gave me the second. I would love to have a eotech but I am not paying big bucks for that right now. What do you all suggest? I just want a basic 30MM that will hold up nothing fancy. I might be willing to change to a larger MM but the 30MM puts the dot in the general area where the factory fold down sights line up (when up).
  8. from what i hear its no big deal to get a sig here in hamilton county. a LOT of guys at the CRC have full auto, SBR's, and silencers. I talked with a guy monday at CRC that just finished building a SRB ak and he said he had no trouble at all other than trying to be patient on the forms to go through.
  9. I think mont lake is still open it is up 27 past soddy i think. last i heard it was still open. correct me if i am wrong! Anyway mont lake if you have never heard of it is/was a range for skeet/trap. I shoot skeet/trap at the Chattanooga rifle club. there is not a range at the club designated just for this purpose but to the side of the 200 yard high power an area is marked off to do so. (thats if nobody is shooting 200+ yards) its better than nothing.
  10. oops somehow the pic is rather small ill fix it later sorry.
  11. you cant beat an 870. I have the more tactical version and love it! I know its not an 870 but if you are looking for a good price on a shotgun and you are in the Chattanooga area GT distributors had/has a bunch of mossberg 500's police version with holders built into the stock on both sides and holds 6/7 i think for under 200 with tax's i think a buddy paid about $170 out the door! the guns were from the dalton, GA pd they changed over to ar's I_like_pie bought one from GT's it took a bit of cleaning but is a nice gun for the $$
  12. they are both good sights. I have night sights on my 92FS and a green fiber optic on my glock. The fiber optic is a bigger object vs the night sight that is small. At least in my case the fiber optic is not always bright as it is either in my night stand or in a holster in my truck. So it dose not see a whole lot of light and sometimes its a little dim. I dont know how old my fiber optic is as it came with the gun and I bought the gun from a friend so..... Im not quite sure the life span of either as i have not been researching sights. how the heck is the night sight under $10.00!!! i know CDNN has good prices but wow! If i had the choice ide probably go with the fiber optic but thats just me. night sights are nice but usually more $$$ than the one you have listed sooo.........

    M1 Garand Tanker

go to http://www.odcmp.org/new_forum/ they are the experts on Garands. If you dont mind doing so give alllllllll the numbers for all the parts (and receiver) and someone over there will tell you a more accurate price. pics will help as well.
  14. I am working on one that will look like this when it is finally finished!
  15. I made the guy who owned the gun shoot it before I did to make sure it did not break off my wrist! It was nowhere as bad as i thought.
  16. I shot one of these (twice) as well but it was nowhere near a full load.
  17. the last few years the gun shows at the National Guard Armory have been rather pitiful. they sell more knives than anything. they usually have a hand full of really over priced Garands. Typically a waste of a trip down town. The show at camp jordan in east ridge is usually a lot better.
  18. Never shot the T-rex but i am sure it tops the list. For me my 8MM mauser (yugo) with the factory steel butt plate before putting on a slip on recoil pad. It left purple buses on one of my friends who has more "insulation" than I do. It only left a small bruse on me the first time I shot it. It was like a hammer to the shoulder.
  19. Here is another option to the glock frame. It is from robar industries the company who dose roguard and np3 finishes. Theirs is an alloy frame. http://www.robarguns.com/ax.html
  20. From what I have read SwampFox dose great work. However as easy as a 10/22 trigger job is I can’t bring myself to spend the money to have someone else do it for me. This is the only trigger job I have done and it was soooo easy and I did not mess up any parts. It seems that most people are apprehensive a little bit to mess with trigger components the first time but as long as you don’t get in a hurry you will be fine. And if you do mess up a part there is always midwayusa.com where most factory trigger parts are really inexpensive some as low as .99 cents.
  21. Check out rimfirecentral.com they have all the info with pics to do a really nice trigger job. With help from I_like_pie and rim fire central I did a complete trigger job. The only extra part I ordered was a target hammer from Volquartsen that came with 2 springs. I got the trigger pull down to about 2 1/2 lbs with a really nice crisp clean pull. I love it! Pretty much every part that touches another part or slides along another part is now a mirror shine (as a result of trigger job not wear)and has stayed that way for about 6,000 rds. I expect it stay that way for a very long time.
  22. heres mine. if you notice the trigger is shiny I would not try such a feat again. the trigger is a soft aluminum with a coating. it was really hard to get the whole trigger to a mirror shine but i finally did it. the stock is a hogue rubberized for a bull barrel so the barrel is fully floating.
  23. Pie helped me with the trigger work on my 10/22. As he said get the target hammer from VQ it is well worth the $30 from midwayusa. That plus a little sanding and polishing here and there will get it in the 2lb range with a nice crisp clean trigger pull. I will bring mine whenever we shoot.
