  1. Nope but its a 40 year old business that stuggles to compete with corporate money that sells product at cost and makes profit on other items. Its an old established sports bar that also has carry out as well. My wifes parents started it as package store / deli. Started as a "small hole in the wall" and stayed in business only because of wife's hard work, treated people right and maintaining a respectable place. It's all her, I stay in the background and always worked other jobs, Budweiser sales for 16 years among other things.
  2. And what kind of business do you own ?
  3. And did they act like they appreciated your business and treated you well ?
  4. Walmart was the first one stop for everything beer, drugs, tires , gas, camper parking lot, eyeglasses, a**scratcher, ammo, you name wally's got it. Better than Hank Hills Mega Mart BTW the I like the Chinese or whatever front how do you say Wal mart in latino Give me Bills Outpost anyday over Walmart
  5. No idea but you see less neighborhood "drugstores", service stations, hardware stores, what I call package stores "beer, chips, etc" all the time. I realize I'm living in the past its just a shame. Its just not right that the M&P can't compete and its not because they don't have the know how.
  6. Thats pretty cold considering that the mom and pops can't get the same pricing or service from distributors example I seen the M&P go buy soft drinks and other products at wally world because wally sells to the general public cheaper than the M&P can buy from the distributor How man times have seen the coke, bread, milk, cigerette, etc rep from the dist .stocking the shelves or other free labor you won't see this at M&P. Big dist pay for self space and other "back room favors" I'm sure its the same for everything else fuel, clothing auto parts etc. I've worked on both side of the industry I know Mom & Pops were the backbone of the country and will soon be gone but its not because they were "weak or couldn't "adapt" it' s because they are playing against a stacked deck. Its everybody's choice but me I'll spend the extra pennies with someone I know rather go hang out in little mexico making the rich richer. When ole Wally runs everybody out they may or may not sell what they want or at what price you want. How many times have you gone there for some particular that you wanted and they didn't have exactly what you wanted but something "similar" just the beginning. :rant:Sorry its too early to get worked up for this
  7. This Just like bread, milk, beer, then gas, then auto parts & garage, pharmacy, eyeglasses when Wally world controls everything and we won't have a choice I don't support 'em
  8. Agree but is it about helping his country or his re-election?
  9. I'm not a Wal Mart fan Its like taking a budget trip to mexico. Anything I need can be found somewhere else with a competitive price.
  10. yeah Try to find english instructions on anything you buy.
  11. I with you I'll go back a few more years when you didn't lock your doors on the house or take keys out of the car. Yeah nicemac I'm having a hard time finding English on things myself A little off thread but I use to catch the Trailways bus 5 miles this side of Sevierville to Knoxville spend the day going to the movies and home again I was 10 years old and went by myself. My father did work for trailways so I did know most of the drivers. Ticket prices were .25 & .35 Three theaters Tenn, Bijou and Rivera made a day of it . Now would you let a 10 year old go to downtown Knoxville alone today. Human services would be all over you. With good reason I might add!
  12. Some of the more "up to speed" on the news members will have help me with this. The USA has taken out a couple of al-qaida terriorist in Yeman and now because one was american born, some are saying they were denied "due process". Of course ACLU is already on it. How bad are things going to get. This is plain crazy. I'm sure most have seen this if not, you will so I'll spare everyone me trying to relay the details because there will be so many. OH ! Oh! gotta go our fearless leader is live on the tube telling how he probably did it single handed That was a wasted trip I guess he wants to see how to play it for the election
  13. I hope these roads have gotten better since I've been on them LOL 50 years ago My family farm was located on Rogers lane ( named after my family it was on the left before White school rd ) yes this another good route not many people know about. The bad thing about Wears valley (321) is this time a year alot of campers and if you get behind a slow one it makes for a long trip.
  14. Looks like blonde with the cleavage in the picture has the look of I dunno maybe her relatives were maybe to close
  15. I think this this best route, but you can also take 411 (sevierville road) out of Maryville to 441/411 ( Chapman highway) and it takes you into Sevierville
  16. Part of the issue in this case TDOT = government job = typical government attitude Not intended to offend anyone
  17. Wasn't Philly one of the places they were having trouble with the flash mobs?
  18. Welcome neighbor !
  19. I hate to start another football thread but did anybody see Mick Vick crying about the refs were letting him get hit more than the other quarterback what BS. He first had broken hand and it now turns out to be just bruised. I guess he thought he was going to sit and count his $$. Talking about entitlement. He's a POS always was and always will be.
  20. Now thats funny !
  21. I agree with LSU being #1 Don't forget Boise had their impressive 41-21 win over Tulsa
  22. Looks like LSU jumped to 1 in the ap poll 1 LSU 2 Oklahoma 3 Alabama 4 Boise 5 Oklahoma state
  23. Welcome I commuted to Cookeville from east tenn for 8 years some of the nicest people I've ever met and great place to live I'm sure
