I'll have to tolerate the hate then as Sevierville seems to be a long way to drive just to be treated like a humanoid....

It's a 6' x 10' Utility Trailer.... So I don't need to do anything other than remove the old MI plate and keep the lights in working order?

I can only wish that I've had time to take the HCP course... It may yet have to wait till I'm home next go round; I work a 4 week on and 2 week off hitch so time off is mighty short....

Ok so I'm a new TN resident and this time home off the ship the wife and I need to get our TN driver's license and handgun carry permit taken care of. I've done some checking and since we live in Union county it looks like we go go Knox to get this taken care of? Now it appears to me that we need to go to our Country Clerks office in Maynardville to register our car, motorcycle and trailer right? Is this where we will get our license plates too? Finding this a bit confusing as in MI all this was done in one location except for the handgun carry permit....

Not to be blunt but if you've been working on cars for near to 30 years you surely should not be needing our help.... :2cents:

This thread is interesting and I hope to learn a little more about TN guns laws here... A couple questions that come to mind are what are the legal requirements in a private face to face cash transaction on a rifle. Being from MI myself I've not made it down to the DMV to get a TN driver's lic and I could very well be your mystery man...LOL Anyway in MI the rifle seller is only obligated to be "reasonably" sure that he is selling to someone who is legal to purchase in the state of MI nothing more nothing less. Same question is posed in the private sale of a pistol? In MI this goes a bit differently in that the buyer is required to present the seller either a permit that he got from a local cop shop or if he has a conceal permit there is another form that the buyer is required to provide to the seller that can gotten as a download or blank copy etc. Again the seller is under no obligation to inspect driver lic etc only to be reasonably sure that the buyer is legit. The buyer carries all obligation to turn in either form as in MI there is a pistol registration system based on the honor system of the buyer....

The SB47 as built incorporates a non essential buffer tube like devise and carries the same letter from the BATF It carries the same letter as it too was submitted to the BATF and they deemed it as legal as the SB15 brace....
-
Yep I have no qualms with calling mine "range toys" because they are and I have them simply because I can....

Was going to reply pretty much what OS has commented.... The idea of attaching a buffer tube to the AK by numerous means has been "tested" by many; take a look at the forum AKFILES and you will see. That being said going the brace route on the AR does not add to its length but in doing so on the AK it adds around 9 odd inches so least be warned that it will be rather large. Having both I will comment that the AR is quite light when compared with the AK. Overall cost of the rounds in the 5.56 is a little higher but really if your going to let a dime per round more change your mind then you might as well find another hobby... The ARP now sports a KAK buffer tube and SIG brace as well as a few other choice goodies and the AKP is sporting a coat of stealthly black truck bed liner on the wood a shorter under rail and will soon have a sidefolding SIG brace too...

While I don't willfully advocate breaking the law but lets looks at it from another angle.... Had the OP not noted the MI plate on the car and made the purchase would any "real" crime have been committed? We all get so used to the gooberment telling us what we can and can't do that we begin to accept it verbatium...

Sometimes it is not even done the same way at the same airport... Different carriers were used but I've seen it done different ways flying out of Phoenix by only a matter of a couple of months...

And this is absolutely why we should NOT take advise gathered in forums as gospel as you never know when it might be incorrect... https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/sports.aspx?camp=virtual_expert#Firearms No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried. The ammunition may be packed in the same container as the firearm or in a separate container. Ammunition must be packed in the manufacturer's original package or securely packed in fiber, wood or metal containers. The ammunition inside the container must be protected against shock and secured against movement. http://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/baggage/special-luggage-pol.html#baggage_special_luggage_pol_tab_list_tab_7 The ammunition may be placed in the same container as the firearm and must be securely packed in cardboard (fiber), wood, or metal boxes, or other packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition. When checking ammunition, Customers are limited to 11 pounds gross weight (ammunition plus container) per person.

Why? TSA and the carriers have no issue with ammo being in the same locked case as the gun? I've done this numerous times... This from TSA: You may carry the ammunition in the same hard-sided case as the firearm, as long as you pack it as described above.
-
This is one that I don't bother trying in that you are supposed to be able to carry loaded mags as long as they are in a pouch of sorts that completely encases then such as knife pouch with a Velcro closing flap etc.... Ammo does not need to be in a locked container as long as it is carried according to both TSA and your carriers directions. From the TSA: You can't use firearm magazines/clips for packing ammunition unless they completely and securely enclose the ammunition (e.g., by securely covering the exposed portions of the magazine or by securely placing the magazine in a pouch, holder, holster or lanyard).

No airline today is allowed to mark your bag in ANY way so as to indicate that there is a weapon inside....
-
This info is somewhat INCORRECT ammo can be in the same case as the locked gun and can be in plastic case... I've flown numerous times and carry everything in ONE case.... This from the TSA: Ammunition - Check with your airline or travel agent to see if ammunition is permitted in checked baggage on the airline you are flying. If ammunition is permitted, it must be declared to the airline at check-in. Small arms ammunitions for personal use must be securely packed in fiber, wood or metal boxes or other packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition. Ask about limitations or fees, if any, that apply.
