  1. Yes I've read where some folks prefer going the route of treating their entire suitcase as the gun case itself and it does work as planned your bag gets special attention from start to finish.... Mortar box or as many tend to use a large lockable electronics/photo equipment case... I've thought about it but just use a cable to lock my case into the frame of my luggage...
  2.   Oh I'm sure they know who we/you are in the data base; with that being said I don't know if there is anything in the bar-code on the tags they hang on our bags they tells of gun in contents.... Probably so I would tend to think? Least there is no big red herring sticker slapped on the bag saying "GUN STEAL ME"
  3.   How long ago was this? No one is supposed to know or be able to tell that you have a gun inside your baggage otherwise it increases the temptation factor for theft....   This is quoted direectly from the TSA website.... Outside Tags - No common or contract carrier shall require or cause any label, tag, or other written notice to be placed on the outside of any package, luggage, or other container that such package, luggage, or other container contains a firearm.
  4.   Do you have big boobs, underwire bra and a low cut shirt? Our traveling partner swears that because she has big boobs she gets extra screenings... I don't know about that but the dark skinned guy wearing the bath robe and towel on his head just walked right through....
  5.   It's a really long walk to Arizona......
  6.   Do not draw your weapon unless you have a real intension of using it.... If you should draw your weapon and do not use it the very next thing you should likely do is call the police and report the incident. As if you do not make the call and the other person does you may very well find yourself charged with brandishing and or worse. There is a case of this happening along with the stupid idea of getting drunk afterward because he was "shaken up" that has cost a MI man his freedom.
  7.   Please refresh your studies by way of TSA or carrier... The gun case itself should NOT be locked with TSA luggage locks as anyone can open them with little effort it should be locked with locks that only you have the key or combo too. If the locked gun case is inside your baggage the baggage should be locked with TSA approved locks.
  8. Lock the gun case with two regular padlocks not TSA locks, lock your luggage holding the gun case with TSA locks. Unload the gun and mags, no loose ammo. Ammo in proper box. I always carry the ammo in the gun case with the gun, never an issue.
  9. Even by way of Shitcago have I flown, not just connecting but start and finish, no big deal at all as long as kept in legal transport mode.
  10. Yep right out the carosel with all other luggage. Read up on TSA and your carrier rules and its an easy gig. The airline is not allwed to mark your bag in any way to show that it contains a firearm.
  11.   Understood; everyone has their reasons for what they do... I'm 50 and I've had many interactions with LEO over the years with most of them being quite pleasant; but I don't keep a gun in my wallet or glove box either....  :2cents:
  12.   If the constitution rocks why are you even disclosing? With no duty to disclose and with TN seeing fit to make legal to carry in car without permit disclosure unless asked is all but a mote point.... I'm all for being polite during an encounter with LEO but I'm not going to disclose any personnel info that I'm not obligated to give unless asked.
  13. Shop around for knives made differently? I'm a lefty and carry a Benchmade assisted knife in my left back pocket without issue. The Benchmade allowed the belt clip to go on ether side and that made the difference for me. My thumb naturally finds the assist button without issue...
  14.   This is not surprising at all as most LEO are not really gun people at all and are simply not all that familiar with the 1911 and that it is likely more safe C&L than their dept issue Glock.....
  15.   But what about knives, axes, cars, gas and sharp poles? Once you open the door saying this is ok then they will move on the next and soon you will be asking the gooberment for permission to take your poop....
  16.   Push them and see what happens! What I fear most with situations like this is where will it stop and will we one day be reduced to having our pizza delivered as no place has not been put on the boycott list for one reason or another... What store can you name in resent events has not caved in to pressure one way or another?
  17. If you don't want my $$$ then put a sign on the door otherwise it will just be our little secret.....
  18. I hold a lot of respect for the LEO that does his job in an upstanding and honorable manor but I absolutely despise those who make up the law along the way and/or abuse the power given to them.... I always hated that MI had a duty to disclose as it does nothing to make either of us safer when interacting after all I am an honest person are I not? Growing up in LA was so much better in that your car was considered an extension of your home and you were entitled to defend yourself as such. To that LEO almost never asked if there was a weapon in the car in LA... I will generally obey the law without question no matter the state that I'm in and if required I will inform but I'll be dammed if I will divulge any info I'm by law not required to give....   Respect goes both ways....
  19. What about the valve springs in your car? Think about it!
  20.   That's a win win in the eyes of the Gooberment.... Let the city take care of these EXTREAMLY high cost trucks and they can take them back at any time.... Or you fill in the blank....
  21.   It's not that they know just by running your plate... Running your plate tells them who the car is registered to... If they then run your name then any particulars come up...   Or at least that was my understanding of how it was done in MI and I do not claim to know much about TN yet...
  22.   That's the one thing I don't think we have changed in making money is the paper itself; you may indeed have a fake bill on your hands.
  23.   50 here and while I've not touched the stuff in close to 20 years one thing I'm never afraid to tell anyone is that I indeed smoked me the $H!T outta some weed when I did partake.... When I retire and no longer have to worry about passing this test for the USCG I'm gonna buy me a big ass bag of weed and remember me the good old days....
  24.   That person would likely end up in a very long drawn out court case as they do not have an actual "legitimate" reason to shoot.... Mom's boy standing around with an AR15 looking stupid is not a good enough reason....
  25.   And now the NRA is backpedaling on their published statement.....
