In the event of a SHTF situation, it would be most beneficial to assume that people are NOT your friends. Keep in mind that there is a high probability that they feel the same way that you do. That is, they are more concerned with their own well being as opposed to yours. They, too, have family members and loved ones to consider and protect.    If you are unfortunate enough to be stuck in a populous city when SHTF, it would be best to stay put for the immediate time following such an event. Like others have pointed out above, the roads and streets will most likely be congested with other people trying to escape the city. This could be a hazard in itself. You could be exposing yourself and your family to whatever pandemonium might exist on the road. This may include but is not limited to riots, stampedes, pillaging, etc.    It might be wise to "bug in" and plan your 'bug out' exit strategy accordingly. If you do plan on leaving the city, it's best to travel on paths less taken by others. It would be wise to get a map of the area that you are located in and plan out different exit routes. These routes may include sewage lines, creeks, ditches, canals, railroad, etc. A good place to obtain these maps would be the local libraries. During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, the libraries in the cities were one of the FEW places left UNLOOTED. There's a wealth of information to be found there.    As you are displacing, its best to travel during the night. Always assume that you are being under observations and try to leave as small a footprint as possible -that is don't make too much noise, try not to have your flashlight on too often (this may give your location to others), and try to avoid contact with others unless you haven't any other options.    If you are unfortunate enough to encounter other people, always stay on your guard. Be wary of those asking for help(as this may very well be an ambush), be wary of helping others (this may strain your resources), and if you encroach upon others as you are passing and they spot you first before you spot them, try not to be provocative and use your best judgement for the situation. Perhaps gesture that you mean harm and communicate that you aren't looking for any problems and are just trying to pass through.

I bought a Crimson Trace laser grip for my Glock 17. The laser in itself is awesome. The laser comes from the manufacturer pre-sighted and is pretty much on point. The grip seems very durable, however, the inside of the grip is where the battery is located and seems expose. I don't know how durable it is if you were to drop it in water, mud, dirt etc. After i got laser, i went to the range. After i shot about 200 rounds through it, the grip just didn't feel right to me. The extra mass of the laser grip felt uncomfortable to me as my hands are not that large. I also notice that i tend to grip my pistol high when i shoot so my index finger would sometimes get in the way of the laser. So i took it off and shot it without the grip and it just felt more natural to me. I sold the laser to my cousin the next day. I can see why conceal carry people would prefer a Crimson Trace laser. The laser mounts on the right side just above the grip (on glocks). This allows it to be easily worn on holsters as oppose to a tactical light.

I really appreciate the offer kind sir. I do have a rifle, and i would normally jump at an offer like this, but i already have a couple of spots to hunt at. I have my family's private land in Mcnairy County and a deer lease by Salem Farm in Weakley County, so i will move aside for someone who might need a place to hunt more than me. Thanks

For skunk control i think a .22lr will be a fine solution. At least you don't have wasp problems. I went home from school this past weekend and discovered that a few colonies of wasp, yellow jackets in particular, have invaded my storage house backyard. I went into the shed without any problems, but on the way out, i was attacked by a swarm of them. What was interesting was that they specifically targeted the back of my neck. I have a huge rash from getting stung there. Luckily, i am not allergic to wasp stings. I was extremely afterward and went back inside the shed armed with a bottle of WD-40 and gave those little bastard hell .

What did you hear about them? I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of my rifle yet. I'll try to do it later on today.

I have a SIG SHR 970 with a synthetic stock chambered in 30-06. It's my good ol' hunting rifle. I love it. It shoots great, is very well built, has a free floating barrel, and is more accurate than i am. The rifle is fairly rare i believe. Sigarms didn't make too many of them i don't think. The parts are getting rarer to come by. I'll post pictures of mine when i get a chance.
