  1. I believe so. If not, I'm happy to send it over to them. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  2. We always said that we'd never punish our customers for finding a better deal online. That's what a lot of shop's transfer fees feel like. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  3. I should rectify that wording on our website. We handle 100% of the paperwork for you and most of the larger companies (Buds, AIM, Palmetto, too name a few) already have our FFL on file, so they'll ship right away with zero need to wait on anything from us. Our transfer fee is $10 for the firearm and $10 for the background check. And yes, this is Rachel and I'm happy to have our on-site gunsmith available to show her how to break down and clean her first firearm at no additional charge while she's here. Let us know what we can do to help! Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  4. Fighting Sheep Dog is excited to announce it's next "FSD Range Day", coming up on June 28th from noon-5pm at Windrock Shooting Range in Oliver Springs. This event is FREE to the general public! We'll supply ALL of the guns. We usually bring between 6-8 ARs decked outh with some of the hottest accessories (JP Silent Capture springs, TacCon trigger, various muzzle brakes (Primary Weapons Systems' CQB, Strike Industries Cookie Cutter, Black Rain Ordnance Miculek-style brake, etc), Gibbz side charging handle billet upper, a variety of buttstocks, etc). You'll receive a handout with the accessories in each gun so you know what you're shooting and can document what you like, don't like, etc. All we ask is that you don't bring your own ammo, but rather get it from Windrock Shooting Range. This allows us to control the quality of the ammo being shot through our barrels. Come prepared for an AWESOME time, shoot some really cool ARs, see what's possible, and discover some accessories you may want for your next build!
  5. ATF has announced that a final decision regarding 41P, a regulation change that will FORCE ALL APPLICANTS TO SUBMIT PHOTOGRAPHS, FINGERPRINTS, AND THE SIGNATURE OF THE CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, will take place in December 2015. For those of you who live in an area where the CLEO is uncooperative, this will mean you will be UNABLE TO PURCHASE, TRANSFER, OR BUILD NFA firearms such as suppressors, short barrelled rifles, short barreled shotguns, destruct...ive devices, or AOWs unless you live in a state that has a "Shall Certify" law in place. Any pending applications or those already approved WILL NOT BE AFFECTED. New applications submitted after 41P will have to follow the new regulations. *Fighting Sheep Dog is not a law firm and is not authorized to provide legal advice.
  6. Did you use an NFA trust or were you filing as an individual? We've seen various times, depending on what entity you're filing under.
  7. Wow. We're a dealer for BHW and have purchased numerous barrels from them in the past, from 5.56, .264LBC, and even 204 Ruger. We've never had a lick of issues with them.   I'll be watching this thread to see how they handle your situation (and if they tell you what was wrong with the barrel, too).   Did you buy it directly from BHW or was it another company selling it on their behalf? Just curious.
  8. Have you looked at a Fedderson barrel? They're made in Lenoir City, TN and are SUPERB. We've gotten several of theirs and LOVE them. (Fedderson used to make Ronnie Barrett's barrels until Barrett started manufacturing their own.)   Fedderson's site: http://www.1022rifle.com/
  9. This is Rachel (John's wife). We built my AR to be lightweight AND have as little recoil as possible (I'm VERY recoil-averse). I went with a carbon fiber lower and handguard, Ergo pistol grip (thinner profile made it easier for my smaller hands), heavy buffer and Springco enhanced buffer spring (to balance the recoil from having such a lightweight gun), 16" pencil barrel and used our proprietary comp/hider.   I echo what a lot of guys have said about ear protection. That made all the difference in the world for me.   I know you're in Franklin, but we're doing a Range Day this Sunday. It's free and you and your wife are welcome to come. She can come shoot 7-10 different ARs, some of which will be suppressed (each has a different brake/hider on it, too). It'd be a great way for her to try out different guns without you having to spend money to purchase items that she may/may not like. Just a suggestion. I posted it in the "Events" section if you need more information.   I absolutely LOVE shooting with my husband and would hate anything that kept me from going to the range with him - especially something that's easily remedied. If she'd like to call/email/PM me to talk further about it with another female AR shooter, I'm more than happy to help in whatever way we can!
  10.   Actually, we do a lot more education in our store, on the blog, and at Range Day. While it's true that some marketing comes from this event, a lot of people just don't know what a TacCon trigger or silent capture spring can do for their AR when they're just holding it in the store...or worse, looking at a picture online!   That's where Range Day came from. :)   And did anyone see that we're doing ANOTHER Range Day this Sunday...and we'll have suppressors! When you finish drooling, get your butts over to Windrock Shooting Range anytime between noon and 5pm this Sunday and let's have some fun!   RAIN OR SHINE - we will be there.

  12. Not sure if this thread is still hot or not.   My name's Rachel. My husband John and I own Fighting Sheep Dog in Claxton/Powell. We're a full service gunsmith, but our showroom specializes in ARs, AR parts, and AR accessories. I don't say this to advertise. This information is pertinent to this conversation.   My husband does all of the gunsmithing. I handle customer service, transfers, inventory, social media, marketing, and everything else.   So, when you walk in the door, want to build an AR, or have questions about special ordering a firearm, I'm your Huckleberry.   While I don't think it's right, I would agree that women are held to a higher standard when it comes to firearms. I have some older gentlemen who only want to speak to my husband. And if they are older guns - that's a good thing because I just don't know that much about them!   However, if you walk in and want to build an AR, want to know why some upper receivers have forward assists and some don't, want to know about barrel twist rates, or anything else - I'll run circles around most men you know.   I write all of the blogs on our website, handle the newsletter, and am constantly trying to find new and innovative pieces for our shelves.   I'm GLAD to see another female FFL holder coming forward! Where's your store going to be?
  13. Let me tell y'all the TRUTH about Coyote RifleWorks... Coyote's claim to fame is that they do managed hog hunts in Texas. They got tired of waiting 30 minutes inbetween kills because of the report from the rifles they used. They had to wait for the hogs to come back after they kept getting scared away. So they went to get suppressors and local law enforcement wouldn't sign off on the application. They went to an attorney, paid a LOT of money, and had them create an NFA trust. Then they realized that there were people across the nation that were in the same situation - that local law enforcement wouldn't sign off, or it took forever to hear back from the ATF, or that there are severe repercussions if you pass away as the owner of an NFA item. So they went back to the attorney and paid a very handsome fee to have the trust accepted in all 50 states. Last year, they did almost 1500 trusts with a 100% acceptance rate from the ATF with average acceptance time from the ATF running approximately 48 days. How do I know so much about Coyote and their trusts? Because we are the only store in the entire nation with access to the backend of their website. As in, you can come into our store, ask any questions, leave with a printed copy and email copy of the trusts. Believe me, these folks are VERY legit. We're happy to answer any and all questions. Whatever we can't answer, we can get the answer for. Hope this helps answer your questions.
