Wally world and Academy both had a bunch of 22lr today MJ location.

Has anyone used the MFS Zinc plated stuff? Wondering how it would run in a Mini 30? Thanks
-
Just currious why the EMP might not be the best for his first? I am trying to balance what will fit him well now and 5 years from now as well. He is at the age now where we can do a lot of fun things together.

It appears an outbreak has taken place at the homestead. Last night my son sent some lead down range. Now he would really like his own 1911. So I am looking for some suggestions he prefers the CMD style. I am thinking 9mm would be best due to ammo cost. I have searched high and low for a 9mm New agent with no success. Any suggestions for finding one? Or a good alternative? Thanks

Just wondering have you always had the1911 platform? Do you ride the safety? Understanding everyone is different just curious why thinner is your choice. Thanks
-
Ok so I did some monkeying around looks like I will need longer screws. I took the standard grips off my standard 1911 and switched them out on my Ruger lightweight CMD. Instant sweet spot. From what I been able to figure out the thinner grips put my thumbs just past the point of where I want them under the safety. I curl my thumbs down versus a high thumb hold and I don't ride the safety. I guess after carrying a 92G for so many years I became used to the double stack. Granted it took some getting used to a 1911. Once I get some new grips I would have no issue carrying the Ruger off hrs.

The ones I have were billed as thin grips they are notably thinner than standard grips so I guess standard grips.would actually be thicker than the ones on itnnow. Thanks

Can anyone rrcomend a source for thicker 1911 grips? I am not a fan of the thin grips. I am looking for ones to fit a Government Size. I would prefer some checkering however wood or synthetic would be fine. Thanks

When to start transitioning to higher caliber from 22lr

Try a few out. Enjoy the journey. The Ruger SR 9C might be worth a look. Best of both worlds with lower capacity you have a nice CC piece. With the 17 rounded you basically have a full size. -
Bersa Thunder is nice if you can handle the reverse direction of the thumb safety. I couldn't and sold mine. It's borderline too big for me to pocket carry. Glad I am not the only one that couldn't deal with the reverse saftey on the Bersa. The Sig P238 seem well built but not for those with large hands. It least the grip was too short for me.

I handled a Sig too small. Seems like most are saying its a good carry gun carried often shot very little which wont fit the need for me. Thinking I may need to make the switch to 9mm. I am considering a New Agent or Defender. Realistically they are not that much bulkier than the Bersa 380 cc model and the sights would be an improvement.

Lots of people had great luck with them that's initially why I purchased it. For me I just could not get past the fact if failed first time out of the box. Maybe I made the wrong call moving on but when you need it failure is not an option nor is having it in the back of your mind that you had issues with it in the past. Again I should say that Bersa stood behind it and it was the warranty shop that took forever and a day. so I am not bashing Bersa. How is the Bodyguard for recoil? Follow up shots? Thanks

Agreed my 1911 does not have a disconnect my 92 is decocker only and no disconnect. But if comes down to using a bug something has gone seriously wrong! I have seen a case where a disconnect made the difference between life and death for an agent. Not saying they are right for everyone but there is two sides to every fence.

I have owned the SIG 238 (actually a few) if you like the 1911 style type of guns (single action) you will like the SIG. I just did not like the 380 platform. That was the reason I sold them. The Beretta will hurt as will the bodyguard. The trigger on the lcp is long. I haven't shot the Glock so no comment on it other then I just don't like Glocks in general. Also you could sell the 380 ammo and look at 9mm. I have an lc9s and like it as a carry gun after I removed the magazine safety I have a 9mm and 45 I don't think I would come close to breaking even on the ammo. So I think I am committed to having a 380. I am not a fan of the ball and bucket sights either. Just curious why you disconnected the magazine saftey? In a last ditch effort a magazine disconnect could be a life saver.

How is the 238 at the range? Seems like the weight would manage the recoil? What I really need is something that can be shot frequently and not make me regret it when it comes to practice time.

Welcome. SE Michigan as in Near Onsted Michigan?

Ok so I no longer own a Bersa 380 CC. After if failed out of the box and 8 weeks of waiting for repairs to be done. I decided although it functioned fine after I got it back.( Noting that Bersa honored their warranty with out question) I could not get past the mental block that it broke on the first use. So now I don't have a .380 but still have a boat load of ammo and a need for a bug. Right now I am considering a Sig Saucer or Beretta Pico any one have any experience with them or any other model that might fit the bill for ankle carry? Thanks

Ok so off hours I am a fashion slob. Cargo shorts Tshirt is my standard fare. Fall is going to be upon us before too long and the wife and I will be vacationing in some cooler areas where the potential is there for warmer temps as well. So I am looking at potentially changing my method of carry. Owb right side about 15:30 works for me. I have always carried owb period. I have tried iwb for my bug Its a .380 and it doesn't work for me so I cant imagine carrying a Government 1911 iwb and it being tolerable? I don't know if its me or not using the right holster? But any suggestions for an iwb holster for someone that cant stand them? I am half tempted just to go owb and call it good but I am trying to be comfortable yet be a little less casual but not formal. Thoughts?

You have that one right. About two years ago I saw some guy roll out of his car with a flimsy nylon universal holster with his cc badge on his belt. At that time I decided I didn't need to shop at Rural king anymore.

Close but no cigar the one I saw today had reflective tape sewn into the holder. Like I said bad idea on so many levels. Especially in today's climate. I really wish I would have asked him on what level he thought it was a good idea? Not for me to judge but a little uncommon sense goes a long way
-
Anyone know where I can get one? I don't eat cracker jacks so that one is out. Perhaps they are only available in Indiana since that was the last state I saw one in. Well at least until today. So some one help me out here where can I GET ONE OF THOSE ULTRA COOL CONCEAL CARRY BADGES WITH THE REFLECTIVE CARRIER? ok I wanted to ask the guy where he got it and why but I could not do so with a strait face. But seriously these things have bad idea written all over them on so many levels.
-
Ok just wondering has anyone had issues with steel case ammo through them? Seems like a lot of reviews were bashing the Mini and claiming issues with ftf. I just got mine out and no issues with any of the ammo. Just wondering what other peoples experiences might be?

Thinking ahead to Hallowen was wondering if anyone ever did the ones in Franklin?
-
My son thought they were cool. I am almost wondering if a 9mm might be better choice. At least considering the cost of .380 ammo. Maybe I can find some in person to look at. He is. 11 so wieght wont be an issue since it wont be an Edc. He really likes the 1911 and he appreciates the history behind them. But at the end of the day I want to get him what he really wants.
