I almost miss Indiana! Or more accurately I miss knowing where to go to find things. In five years we have lived in Michigan South Dakota Indiana and now Tennessee. Right now I am trying to find a wall thimble for a 3 inch exhaust pipe for a pellet stove. I have tried several stores including big box home improvement stores a fireplace store tractor supply nothing. Any one have any other ideas? Otherwise looks like it will be on line purchase time.

Anyone interested in either? Neither States it is non transferable. Received the Cabellas coupon in the mail and it expires 11/27/14 and I will be in Pittsburgh for work for the month. The range pass does not have an expiration date on it. I am sure the range is nice but I have no need fo it. Thanks

Sales are actually up at my house. Last week I got a brand new gate lock from them. Even came with two 25 round magazines scope mounts and an unexpected item a rail mount. Over all very happy.

Not wanting to be sarcastic but why is it called a turkey shoot if it does not involve turkeys? Never heard of such a thing. But then I was born and raised in the Midwest.

Welcome new to the area as well. Overall a very nice place

At this point this is a non starter for me. Unless there is another PJ close to Mount Juliet that does not treat those that chose to defend them selves with disdain. I remember addressing the gun buster sign at the one in MJ he made it very clear that firearms were not welcome in his store under any circumstances period.

Ah does it get cold here. Rember one year in South Dakota 39 degrees. Below 0 and that did not even take into account the wind chill factor. Last year in Indiana 153 inches of snow it came in October and stayed through April. You wont hear me complain about the temps here.

[quote name="Mike A" post="1202661" timestamp="1414293525"]In the interest of devil's advocate / another country heard from I would offer the following: The OP I'm sure knows more about Gramps' back story than he's been able to offer up to this point. At a minimum we know that he's in his 60s and raising the daughter of his incarcerated son or son-in-law and deceased daughter or daughter-in-law. I'd be willing to bet that in doing so he's probably had a lot of interaction with likely well meaning but nevertheless meddlesome individuals many of whom were probably affiliated with governmental or semi-governmental agencies. As the OP is law enforcement that could certainly add to Gramps' trepidation. Lest I be misconstrued, I am in no way doubting the OPs intention or motivation merely trying to offer a possible explanation for Gramps' behavior. I could be all wet on this and Gramps could just be a d-bag. I think I'd try to cultivate a relationship of trust with Gramps. Maybe in time he'll warm up to you and realize the nature of your intentions. If not, I think you have to back off and make the time the children spend at your house as positive as possible unless and until you think the situation requires intervention from LE / DCS, etc. I'm sure being in LE you know the consequences and ramifications of such involvement. Your correct there is a lot more in the background that is not going to be discussed. My wife rather thought that there should be some escalated intervention however sometimes such things carry unintended consequences. With that being said I think its best to let those that are already involved address the situation in that regards. In the mean time I will just continue to fix a flat bicycle tire or play ball with them whatever. The good news is that we spoke with the people down the road they are an older couple and have lived here all their lives and they actually know the pastor at gramps church and they are going to help. So all that is left is to do a little shopping and let the church include in it in the care package. The little girl wins gramps is none the wiser and its all good

Yeah that's putting it mildly. Unfortunately I get to see a lot of people at their worst and have too many times witnessed first hand the terrible thing's drugs often cause people to do and I am sure there are a lot of other factors at play. Perhaps we could ask our pastor to help? Not sure but where we are from pastors often knew pastors from other churches. Not sure if that's the case around here or not? None the less maybe a little prayer will get us an answer.

There is no concern that they may try to take advantage of our generosity. But when we moved in some were very happy and welcoming and others made it perfectly clear that we were not going to be friends or even remotely civil. I remember the word pig being used on several occasions by some. Unfortunately the grandfather wants nothing to do with me however he is civil to my wife. The uncle is just there trying to help as much as he can. I have talked to the uncle a few times he is always polite and civil but the grandfather not so much. So I keep to myself and fix the kids bikes next door when asked. My wife did ask the the grandfather one day when he was out by himself getting the mail and was basically told that if she needs something he will decide if its really something she needs. So that's kind of the dilemma. I know you cant fix everything nor should one try but that does not mean that you cant try to do something nice for a child.

Long story short there is a family next door 4 children between ages of 9 and 14 three boys and a 9 year old girl. One of the younger boys and the 9 year old girl often come over and play with my son. The girl has a ger low self esteem and sometimes talks to my wife. Very smart girl very nice but all of them have been through a lot and are being raised by their grandfather and uncle whom are both in their 60's due to the death of their mother and incarceration of the spermdonor. The girl is totally lacking in a lot of things. The church often brings food etc. So I was wondering if it would hurt to purchase a few things for her and just leave them there when no one was around? We are not wealthy by any means but most certainly we could help. I don't want to insult anyone but having grown up a poor kid I kind of know what that feels like. Thoughts?

Problem is time more than anything. Work has been crazy lately. In the past I have always rented the tools to do it but with exterior of the house being brick I don't want to screw anything up. I will most likely do the inside work myself. I am great with drywall so any oops is easily fixed. Main thing is to steer clear of wires etc in the wall. Plus where the vent tube comes out will be visible so I want it to be just right.

Not wanting to bash anyone so store will remain nameless but stopped in one place Friday afternoon in Nashville was less than impressed prices on used gun were with in 100 of brand new. Guess I am not used to dealing with big box stores where you need to wait 10 minutes before someone asks if you need anything then says hang on while I get this call. Maybe not such an issue in a small store but when there are three employees standing there doing nothing one of them could not have answered the phone. Just turned me right off.

Anyone know someone that does masonary work? I need to have about a three inch hole drilled through brick for a stove vent pipe. Thanks

I know this response is not quite what your looking for but here goes. Have you considered a corn pellet stove? Much more efficient cleaner and more home owner insurance friendly. Might be worth considering.

I was thinking of going the ffl route just seems kind of odd to so that. Almost seems like taking your own burger to a restraunt and having them cook it for a fee. Seems like the shop I have stopped in at have not wanted to move a dime off their price. Seems like they would negotiate even a little to get the sale. I am sure on retailers are making a profit at their listed prices.

Since 9hr each way is a bit much to drive back to my favorite gun store Jerry's Gun store in Indiana. I want to pick up A new Mini 30. Seems like no one has them in stock. Seems like prices seem to be anywhere from $125 to $150 over on line prices. I don't mind paying a little extra to buy at a store and some seem to offer warranties but with a Ruger that really is not a perk since Ruger has always stood behind their products. So where is the best place to buy around here? For me Gander Mountain is out too prcey. Academy Sports seems to have fair pricec but they don't carry the Mini 30. IDEAS?
-
The one I am considering is the Tactical model supposed to have a heavier barrel and come with two ruger 20 round magizines.
-
Anyone have one? What are your thoughts on them?
-
Good to know looks like not every one stands behind their products like Ruger?
-
Would like an m1a but as I dug into it looks like a m1 carbine might be an option. Based on some of the reviews I read kahrs version would be out.

Thar's what I was thinking just have to find one. Any one know about the ones made by postal meter?
-
I know but I just cant justify having some on my money filter back to that state. I look at companies like Berretta and will support them all day long. Understanding that its difficult to pack up and move. But none the less I just cant compromise on that one.
