  1. Lol, I will do my best to convey the preceding sentiments.
  2. I am sure there are people out there that do..............you quoted me in that response, what exactly is it you disagree with?
  3. Isn't there a legal bar to be met in the use of deadly force? otherwise an officer can claim he feared for his life almost anytime he makes a traffic stop or any other contact for that matter. Imminent death or bodily harm, or can I just shoot a road rager that thinks he can come up to my truck window just because I think he is going to hurt me?
  4. Read a news story posted on Mlive.com. I am link illiterate. I am formerly from MI and was active in the open carry movement there and I still keep in touch with old friends........You know....... guys that know other guys who know the 2 who did this.
  5. I did say I didn't fully agree with the method used. No weapon was in hand of either man unlike a machete in hand and a restaurant is not a police station that has every officer in there armed unlike restaurant patrons. Totally different. What was not told was the 2 gentleman called the precinct and told them they were coming in and informed them they were carrying . They knew before hand. There was no intention or attempt to scare anyone. Looked like they walked into the precinct pretty calmly to me.
  6. OK, these 2 are well known 2A activists in Detroit. What they did was not illegal, unlike here in TN where it is illegal to carry a firearm into a police station. The masks are the very masks the police and military wear in cold weather, still not illegal nor are the vests. While a lot of you on here may disagree with the method, they were lawfully conducting legitimate business as they went there to file a complaint. I don't fully condone their actions and methods either but they did NOTHING ILLEGAL nor did they verbally threaten anyone. The weapon was laying across his mid section and not in his hands so that did not convey an immediate threat and the pistol was holstered on his hip. This conveys that the people have an inalienable right to bear arms and that the police do not have a monopoly on rights. Its not up to them who exercises a right. 2A rights will not be championed by hiding our side arms under our shirts, rather that we should show others that good people carry firearms too........openly AND concealed.
  7. H&H firearms is also on hwy 92 just south of exit 417. East side of road in a small strip mall of about 4-6 stores, easy to miss.
  8. Good for him. I am sure the Gov't may need to throw some kind of regulation in his path.......you know, we can't have him inspiring others to step away from their play stations and attempt to weaken Gov't grip on their power base.
  9. We were at the Grand Canyon and came across a bunch of cars parked off the side of the road. Come to find out there were 3 cow and 1 bull elk that people were actually approaching as close as they could get to them to get a picture. I could tell the bull was on high alert and had his eye on one guy in particular. Lucky for him a ranger saw it too and got him to back off. These creatures are huge. They can kill you with one sweep of its antlers or a swift kick. In the Gatlinburg area we also see a bear or 2 wander into town on occasion. There are those that do the same and want a picture so they get as close as they can, some with their children, not understanding the danger even a small black bear can present. God bless them.
  10. I discovered that here in Dandridge that it is illegal for me to turn my own water off at the meter at the road. Go figure. Not that that would stop me if I had a problem that I could not deal with by turning off the valve in my entry line. The water dept. has also started charging a .50 cent fee for line breakage insurance, citing that there are many seasonal homes that are not occupied year round and some have had water main breaks go undetected for a period of time and resulted in outrageous bills that the owner did not feel responsible to pay. Now, as for this plumber not wanting to pay the 150 shut off fee I think he better have good insurance to cover his mistake. It looks like a fairly big apartment complex so you just don't shut off the water to a bunch of apartments because you want to change a faucet. Pretty funny anyway.
  11. Welcome from another former Michigander. Moved to Dandridge a bit over 3 years ago and haven't look back. Rogersville is a beautiful area too and the gun climate here in East TN is pretty relaxed. I carry all over town both open and concealed and never have a problem. Good luck in the 'smithing venture too.
  12. Yeah, I watch the news regularly too and this stuff is just the normal up tick in holiday stupid. Gotta love it huh? Tis' the season and all. With the cold weather and having to wear a coat I keep a BUG in my left coat pocket incase someone should notice the one my right hip and decide that I don't need to be havin that on me. Try to take the one on my right side you get popped by the one on my left side. I tend to become a hermit though when the holiday crazy season starts because I don't like being in the crowds and close quarters that come with places like Walmart and Sam's Club. I just avoid them.
  13. Just hang out at Walmart some time and you will get your fill of things that you can't unsee.
  14. Welcome to freedom......... kind of. Compared to California TN is paradise, still has its drawbacks but they are able to be dealt with. Aside from the typical no carry places and gun buster signs have the weight of law we have a fairly liberal carry atmosphere here. LEO are well informed on gun laws for the most part and don't hassle people on it much. I carry both concealed and openly depending on circumstances and have never had a problem either way. You may be better off applying online although I don't know how you submit proof of citizenship online. I do know the motor vehicle centers have lost apps before. It happened to my wife. I got my permit in the mail within 3 weeks and we waited another week without her getting hers. We called the TBI and had to tell them the date of the class we took, where it was and who the instructor was. It came the next week so all was well. Come here often and ask questions. We have a lot of good knowledgeable people here.
  15. Well, Barry did tell Vlad to cut it out so everything will be OK now. See, he fixed it for Trump and he can now assure him that Vlad will be no problem in the future. I wonder if he consulted with the Don on the view of the media too? Pitiful, truly pitiful.........and yes, they will continue to wonder on how could they have possible lost.
  16. Airlines are not government entities, they are private businesses therefore they can set their own rules for using their service such as no firearms in the cabin. Ever read your ticket and the "agreement" that is set forth when you purchase a ticket? You have absolutely no rights when you are on board and the captain is THE ABSOLUTE authority. That said I have to agree that a show of force is the way to go for security. I quit flying and will not get on another airliner in my life if I don't have to and I have my private pilots license though I have not flown in a very long time.
  17. Michigan allows the carry of a firearm into schools as long as its openly carried and you have a permit. No carnage there by any lawful carrier that I am aware of. Their signs do not carry the force of law either. They also have unlicensed OC. Prime example of the difference between states laws and why, or what is it exactly, that states do not like to look at examples of how other states do things and the impact, or lack of impact on the general public.
  18. Have you checked the run/start capacitor? Is the electronic control board corroded? Those would be the 2 that you can take the little cover off and at least look at them. The capacitor's bottom should be flat, if it is bulged out its bad. Cheap fix if you do it, not so cheap if a service guy does it. There is a shiney silver sticker on it to tell you what size it is and it must be replaced with one of the same electrical rating. If the control board is corroded and shorted then you can replace that yourself too, one wire at a time because the terminal are labeled. That's a more expensive part. The problem is finding a supply house that sells those things retail to the public.
  19. Speaking of a bad install......who did the original install? Seems like it would be on them.
  20. If its at all possible to just replace the compressor it would be wrong to just get it going to sell the house with the system still leaking. We all know that a heating company would prefer to sell a $6000.00 new system over a 500.00 reman compressor. ( I don't know the actual costs, just throwing out numbers) The system is only 8 yrs old and if there were any warranty left to claim on they would just deny it by claiming an improper installation. Systems should not leak period, no matter how old. There was evidently a pin hole in a solder joint somewhere or vibration wore a hole somewhere in the line. There is a dye that can be put into the system to locate any leaks. Talk to the Hiller guy to see if he could help you out on the side for the trade items you offered here.
  21. Maybe.............to be continued. I believe the 2nd amendment forbids the federal government from passing ANY laws regarding firearms and in spite of that it still has. Shall not be infringed means something. Why have we accepted infringement on arms but we don't accept any infringement on freedom of the press, the 1A or censorship? Recent domestic terrorists have said they were radicalized on-line, the internet, so "if it saves just 1 life, its worth it", lets censor the internet right? What's wrong with that? Liberals and conservatives should be able to come together on that issue and put common sense restrictions on the internet right? Common sense internet control we can call it. Who could oppose that? Any movement on the issue of 2A rights and furthering the ability of the law abiding to exercise their 2A rights is a welcome step forward, but it is still an infringement on the federal level if it needs to pass a federal carry law. What we do about states rights to regulate arms within its own borders is a whole other issue.
  22. Replacing the system can be expensive but like others have said, you will be better off on the selling price if it is a new system. That being said, how old is the system now? If it has truly leaked out the Freon then there is a hole somewhere that needs fixin' or its just going to leak out again. Don't just replace the compressor if that's what someone suggests.......you will likely be unhappy with the result if there is still a problem somewhere else in the system. The problem could be something as simple as a bad condenser or the control board. Was the guy who checked it out in the first place trustworthy in you opinion? Or was he just a guy with some gauges? Get a second opinion from a trustworthy repairman.
  23. This only tells there is no middle ground on this issue. I can agree with some points of the arguments of both here. We have the ideal of creator bestowed rights and shall not be infringed and all, but we live in the reality of mans laws and the societal restraints that come with living with other people. BUT, I feel that one should be able to exercise ALL their rights unencumbered as long as they are not infringing on someone else's rights. My carrying a firearm in public should not be curtailed just because someone says they feel unsafe. If I am actually being unsafe and threatening then by all means arrest me. Otherwise leave me alone. The attitudes of urban vs. rural dwellers are understandably different and we as gun rights advocates will never change the minds of those that feel guns should be banned. We can't even agree amongst ourselves.
