Just ran across this on YouTube and saw mention of Tennessee. At the bottom of the bill there is a spot for Tennessee's Governor and other states Governors to sign. I did a brief search and can't find anything in TN that is being proposed to go along with this aside from Tennessee House Bill 1407 which seems to died in committee in 2018. This right here scares the living daylights out of me. For those that think that this has little chance of winning this cycle, I say wake up! Look at the Republicans that are already supporting it. Then look at the Republicans that are pushing other gun-control laws like the Red Flag garbage. Something like this has a huge chance of getting past both the Congress and Senate. Who knows once it makes it through there and through the committees how much more will actually be added to the bill. As it stands, when I last looked at it, we would at least still be grandfathered in with most of our firearms but who is to say that will be the case if/when a bill such as this hits Trumps desk. As for Trump, he is a businessman first and foremost. He has shown that he will side with whoever he needs to to close a business deal, no matter what the outcome as long as his goals are met. For business this is fine but not as my president. As someone already pointed out, I have little doubt, if given the opportunity, Trump would sign this bill in a heartbeat to get the wall and border funding. Any pro 2nd amendment, heck any constitution loving american period, that isn't scared to death right now needs to get a reality check and open their eyes. I truly hope that I am wrong but I just don't see it any other way. EDIT: After looking at the link provided, unless I am missing something, no Republicans are on record supporting this particular bill as of yet. My point still remains however.

I get ya man. I was the same way for a long time. About 15 years to be exact. But some of us do need some help and eventually I felt the need to get that help. I just hope because I sought out that help that I am not criminalized because of it. In truth what are we telling our veterans and even civilians who suffer from these things. Basically damned if you do and damned if you don't.

As a veteran who suffers from anxiety, depression and PTSD, this law absolutely scares me to death. I am by no means a threat to my self or my community but all it takes is someone to say otherwise no matter what evidence they have. Because of my health issues, I would stand little to no chance of a legal defense. Keep in mind, I am a veteran. I have served my country and know a thing or two about respecting firearms. After leaving the military, I served my community for over 15 years working as a civilian employee for a local police department. Although I was not sworn, I worked closely with our officers on a daily basis. I have nothing but love and respect for my country and community and the laws that we must abide by. I can not fathom breaking those laws especially to do something as crazy as a mass shooting or anything like that. All this being said, do you really think the court or liberals would care about any of this? All they would see is someone dealing with health issues and who has guns. It doesn't matter to them that I am actually a law abiding citizen much like so many of our current veterans who deal with the same problems that I have to deal with. Honestly I am terrified to even make this post but people need to understand there are plenty of veterans and others like myself who are healthy members of our society that contribute to the well being of our citizens on a daily basis but also deal with, dare I say it, "mental health issues." This does not make myself or anyone else a threat to our communities, regardless of the fact that we are also responsible gun owners. All it takes is a single person who thinks differently and all of this would go away for myself or any others in similar circumstances. Again, this scares me greatly. As with many shooters, it is very relaxing for me. I am an accuracy nut, albeit not that great of one. I love reloading and squeaking every once of accuracy out of my firearms that I am capable of. It is fun for me and is a family "tradition" that has been passed down to me and I have in turn passed down to my children. The attention to detail that shooting and even hunting takes is something that takes my mind off of my own personal problems and is very therapeutic for me. This doesn't even take into account the self defensive rights that I also have as a father, husband and responsible citizen. Please do not allow a bill like this to be passed in our state!

A little late to the party but here are my thoughts. I have a SW Bodyguard and it goes with me just about everywhere. It almost never leaves my pocket. Most of the time I also have my Glock 26 on my hip but when I need to be "ultra concealed" the 380 is still in my pocket. About the only time the 380 comes out of my pocket when I am out of the house is when I go to the VA for an appointment. As far as the 380 isn't powerful enough debate there is plenty of research done out there where folks have put clothing in front of ballistic gel blocks and shot it with a 380. There is still plenty of lethal force from the 380 through clothing. With any self defense firearm, it is only as lethal as you are accurate with it. Again there are plenty of stories out there where LEOs and others have mag dumped multiple mags of bigger calibers into a person and not taken them down. A lot of things play into it. This might be a logical reason to always carry a larger caliber but in the end as the saying goes, "the most effective carry firearm is the one you always carry." I always have the 380 in my pocket but again about 90 or 95% of the time I also have my Glock 26. Who says you have to only carry one gun!

Here is the email I just sent to Walmart corporate. We will see what they say if anything in reply to my email. I will probably give them a call also when they are open next.

I just ran down to the Jonesborough Walmart here in Johnson City to pick up a couple of boxes of ammo for my SIL's 30/30 so we could go shooting tomorrow morning. I had to ask for someone to come back to sporting goods and when the person showed up it was the customer serv manager. When I asked to get some ammo, I was told that it was against federal law for them to sell ammo past 9PM and that if he were to open that ammo case the ATF and JCPD would be all over the place. I have heard a lot of good ones in my time but this was by far one of the best. I spent over 15 years with one of our local PDs and never once have I heard of this and can't recall ever hearing of anyone being dispatched out to a store because they sold ammo after 9PM. I even told the guy this and that it might be a Walmart policy but it was in no way a federal law. He just said he couldn't do it either way. Funny thing was, I went over and picked up a box of 12 gauge and 22 ammo off of the shelve and bought them with no problems. Walmart Supercenter 2915 W Market St Johnson City, TN 37604 423-434-2250

I havent shopped at Dick's in years after they screwed me on a bow purchase. This is even more reason never to even walk past the store much less into it.

I love watching Jerry Miculek's videos.  What's so dang amazing to me is that when he competes, he is using a revolver against most everyone else's semi-autos and still is consistently a top contender.  

  Actually if you read the FBIs report on calibers, they fairly definitively (at least in my book) answer the discussion on calibers.  Basically, they state "bigger is better".  In the end though due to availability of the rounds and the ability of the average shooter to control the rounds better, their caliber of choice is the 9mm.  They say that although a bigger caliber such as the 40 or 45 punches a bigger hole, the shooter is better served by being able to put multiple rounds on target with greater accuracy afforded by the lesser recoil of the 9mm.  In the same report I believe they also mention that the 357 Mag was the caliber of choice by the FBI for something like 35 years before being replaced by the 9mm.   All of this is from memory so don't quote me on it.  It's been a while and I don't have the report in front of me as it's at home on my reloading bench.   I also had the opportunity to work along side a SEAL team back in the 90s when I was in the Navy and doing VBSS.  They all used 9mm in both the sidearms (Sigs) and rifles (MP5s) and when I asked them about it they said the caliber choice for them was primarily due to the same reasons above.  Availability and control.  And when I say "work" I mean I stood there and drooled like an idiot as I watched them.  I was just a stupid, young sailor at the time and am by no means putting myself anywhere near the level of the US Navy SEALS!

I typically CC when I am out in town but OC when working around the house or hiking/hunting.  I don't think many bears care if I am CC vs OC.  Occasionally I might run into town when I have been out working around the house and OC but this doesn't happen often as I will normally throw a shirt on over.  Mainly though I tend to err on the side of caution and remain inconspicuous as others of have stated.

  I recognize those dang Crown Vic seats from just about anywhere.  Although a little less roomy, the Charger seats are far more comfy imho.

I carry both a 9mm and a 357 at different times.  My 9mm is a Glock however and not a revolver.  I did a lot of research when I bought my Ruger SP101 357 because I was looking for something with a little more power for when I am hiking on the AT and in bear country.  I watched a lot of videos and read a lot of reports on both rounds.  Hands down, the 357 had a ton more energy in ballistics gel tests than the 9mm did.  I have never done any gel tests myself but have shot my share of jugs and melons (no pun intended) and there is definitely a noticeable difference between the 9mm and 357.     Don't get me wrong, I love both calibers and each have a place in my carry rotation.  The 9mm has far less recoil and allows me to be much more accurate which hopefully means much more lethal.  The 357 though is just an awesome round and the power of it is apparent when actually shooting into something.   Just for comparison, I shoot Hornady 124 gr XTP out of my 9mm and Hornady 158 gr XTP out of my 357.  The 9mm has 339 ft-lbs of energy and 1110 ft/sec velocity at the muzzle while the 357 has 548 ft-lbs of energy and 1250 ft/sec.  That's a 62% increase in energy from the 9mm to the 357.

The thing that catches my eye the most is in the follow up article about the mother filing a lawsuit.  The WDTV.com website states "an image of a hunting rifle" rather than the normal "assault rifle".  This makes me want to contact the TV station and thank them for not stereotyping a simple semi-auto as an "assault rifle" as so many folks do these days.  Maybe, just maybe, not every news organization out there have their collective heads up their rear ends.
