  1. 2re·spect  verb \ri-ˈspekt\ : to feel admiration for (someone or something) : to regard (someone or something) as being worthy of admiration because of good qualities : to act in a way which shows that you are aware of (someone's rights, wishes, etc.) : to treat or deal with (something that is good or valuable) in a proper way
  2. For leather holsters I highly recommend http://www.simplyrugged.com/. I have the silver dollar pancake for my sp101 revolver. I don't have any of theirs for my autos yet but would like to.   They have good quality carry belts also.
  3. The leather ones definitely have a break in period. I find I like leather for iwb and kydex paddle holsters for owb. You will probably just have to try some out and see what you like after carrying with it for a while.   I just realized I do currently own one holster with a retention strap; http://www.unclemikes.com/holsters/concealed-carry-holsters/super-belt-slide-holsters I bought it for $5 out of a grab box of used holsters at a gun show for my Smith 5906. Believe it or not that holster fit like a glove and I use it mainly as a truck gun, glove box or console, but have been carrying it some lately. Very comfortable and secure. I don't usually like these nylon type holsters but this one is good for what I use it for and the price was right.   If you're like me you'll have a closet full of holsters before you find the "right" one.
  4. I don't own any retention holsters but then again I always cc. What type of handgun will you be carrying?    If i had to oc right now for some reason I would use my Fobus holster. I think they offer one with a retention strap on some models but mine fit tight enough that I would feel comfortable with that, wouldn't fall out or anything and would be hard to grab. I cc with the Fobus some time in the cooler weather if I have a heavy cover garment.   I had a leather Bianchi retention strap belt holster one time for my HK USP40 but I never really liked it so I sold it. It was excellent quality but very large and too stiff and bulky.   Sorry I am not much help.
  5. I try to avoid the subject as much as possible with anyone outside my family. Don't really want people knowing what I have or don't have, what I am prepared for or not prepared for, etc. Kind of like cc vs oc. I don't like to draw unwanted attention.
  6. +1 on the Keltec P32. It's my only pocket carry.
  7. We have an Australian Shepherd. She is just the greatest dog. She is excellent with children and very protective of us and the property, we have 10 acres of land. We got her as a puppy and she is now 11 years old.    Anytime we are outside she is right there with us playing and also protecting. She stays outside mostly and is very active most of the day. She comes in sometimes during the winter, she gets along with our indoor cats just fine. We have never formally trained her but I have worked with her with simple things like sit, lay down, rollover, handshake, etc. and she picks right up on it. I saw her kill a raccoon in our driveway because it came into her territory. She is very friendly with people but I am sure if someone was attacking one of us, especially the children, she would go at it with them.   Read up on the breed; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Shepherd.    May not be exactly what you were thinking of but something to consider. Hope that helps.
  8. I've seen concerts at the Bijou and TN Theater in Knoxville. They are both smaller venues with great acoustics.    Tool. What kind of name is that for a band?
  9. I'm sure you will do just fine. Use the .22 if you have ammo for it. It sounds like you are more familiar with handguns than 90% of the people that were in the HCP class I took.
  10. Good luck getting an entire neighborhood to agree on anything.
  11. Went last year. Stayed at The Golden Nugget, we did the shark tank tour, http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas/show_sharktanktours.asp. The Nugget was very nice and has several nice restaurants inside. Went with the wife for business. We are not gamblers or drinkers and it was a short trip anyway so we did not have a lot of extra time. We checked out Fremont St and walked around a little, and saw Elvis.   Here are a couple of things we wanted to do that were recommended but did not have time for. Lake Mead Cruise, http://www.lakemeadcruises.com/ Red Rock Canyon, http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/lvfo/blm_programs/blm_special_areas/red_rock_nca.html   Hope you have a nice trip!
  12. Congrats!
  13. Is this him? http://www.smokingpipedepot.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/smoking-pipe-depot-00101765443333222323.jpg
  14. Welcome to TGO!
  15. Nice looking 1911 and some interesting history to go with it.
  16. Can you block that #? It's probably some kind of ghost, robo, telemarketing thing.   I listed all my #'s on the do not call list. It really helped a lot. No 100% though.
  17. That's some great deals for sure. Did you see the 100k round pallets?
  18. Although i think it's a good read, the report makes way too much sense to be from a gov agency. The wording is all wrong for gov reports. Just my 2 cents.   I will say I have been enjoying 9mm handguns more now that I have a G27 with 9mm conversion barrel and my newly acquired S&W 5906. I have traditionally carried .40 handguns but I feel confident that the 9mm can do the job just fine. The 5906 was bought mainly as a truck gun but I have been finding myself carrying it often.   During caliber debates I ponder this question; Is it possible for a certain caliber to cause you to be more dead? Put me down as not wanting to be shot by any of them.
  19. They have been coming out more lately. Not sure what the deal is with them. I don't remember them being around until just a few years ago. The cats like to play with them.
  20. I think the yearly is the Trailer E tag and the one time permanent is the Semi one. You can get either on the small trailer but have to get the semi if over certain dimensions.   I'm building a trailer for hauling scrap metal that I will have to get inspected by THP for a vin aqnd title and I will tag it because it will be owned by my business and for commercial use. I'll probably get the Semi tag since it is going to be close to the size limits and it is just a one time fee.   Disclamier: I am no expert on tags, consult your county clerk's office to be sure.
  21. I just checked and I have 91 but then again I'm not that interesting and I don't sell stuff in the classifieds.
  22. I'm waiting until my son gets home from work today to go outside and shoot it. I figured since he did all the work putting it together he should shoot it first.   I'll post some pics when we shoot it later on maybe even a video. I'm not that tech savy. But i bet TrickyNicky can talk me through it, he's a computer genius even though he thinks batman can beat the six million dollar man.    I also had cravings for baked potato minus the rodent though.
  23. I'm too far away probably but you can borrow Miami Vice anytime; http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMjE2MjM0ODAxOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjEyMjYzMQ@@._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg
  24. Best advice, stay home or take an outing  to a different place that is gun friendly or worst case go unarmed.
  25. My thinking exactly.
