  1. Rough neighborhood?
  2. I have not seen any. I think we will have to convert you to shoot right handed.   Just kidding Red, but I will keep my eye out for one. Are you looking for a complete barreled upper half or just the stripped upper? Does the lefty require a special bcg, I was not sure?   Seems like several places offer them but nobody has them in stock.
  3. I bought several of the KCI Glock 22 .40 mags in 15 rd and also happy sticks from CDNN when they were just so cheap I could not pass them up. Ok for range use, no problems with the 15 rd, the happy sticks probably need some working with.   I bought them mainly to use in my kelec sub2000 that takes Glock mags. No issues in my Glock 22 either. A few years ago CDNN had them for $5 and I just could not resist buying them. When the shipment came in my daughter asked "what's up with this big box of granola bars on the coffee table?". They come in small plastic packages that look like granola bar wrappers with military looking writing on them. i also got some used Glock factory mags in that same shipment from CDNN for around $10. Keep in mind this has been 4 or 5 years ago, probably no deals like that now.   As for edc, I will stick with factory mags. I don't actually carry the Glock much, but it stays at the house with the sub2k ready to go. I tend to carry my HK USP40 more often.   I need to get the sub2k out and try them out.
  4. My pocket carry is a Keltec P32. +1 on using a good holster and keeping it clean. I got a good leather holster off ebay that converts for front or back pocket carry. Carhartt carpenter jeans work well, they have the larger front pockets that are cut more at an angle.    I have been leaning toward iwb instead of pocket carry for the last few months. Very hard to draw sitting down with pocket carry but it is better than nothing.
  5. I bought a 16" carbine A2 1 in 9 complete upper from Rguns last year. It is very accurate and the quality was good, shipped fast. I think they were $409 last year, seems like they went up about $20 now, still not bad. I have it mated to a polymer lower right now.   I just received my barreled 16" carbine A2 1 in 7 upper, minus BCG & CH, from PSA. It is the chrome lined FN barrel. It was one of those daily deals, $299 was a deal for sure. I am going to use it on 1 of my TGO lowers when they arrive. I am leaning toward a 20" barrel with the TGO upper to go on the other TGO lower, Not sure yet but I am shopping around.   I am still shopping for a stock & buffer for at the moment. I am leaning toward magpul MOE or CTR.
  6. Lawyer- good move.   Venting- just remember anything you say can and will be used against you. However therapeutic it might seem you should be concerned of how this could negatively impact your cause.   Validation- not sure you will get that here.   Fight injustice- I'm all for it. Is this an injustice? I am not so sure.   Just my opinion but I have noticed most of the focus has been on the incident with your handling of the inmate. I do not claim to know anything about the corrections job but as a supervisor I could not condone the remarks/ threat you made to the other officer and whether you realize it he may have saved you from getting into more trouble during the handling of the inmate.   If I heard an exchange like that between 2 of my employees you better believe someone would be facing disciplinary action and/ or termination. I will mention again the difference in being in TN vs NY. I have lived in TN all my life and I do not talk that way to my co-workers or anyone for that matter. Forget about the inmate for a minute and think on what you said to the other officer.   Does all this have legal weight against your hcp? Do you need to carry a handgun if you have trouble controlling yourself in stressful situations? I could not answer for sure on that but it might be time to re-evaluate your attitude and the way you interact with others. A few things that come to mind are discipline, self control, respect, courtesy, and professionalism. See the quote from the movie Lonesome Dove that is listed below in my signature.   Not trying to give you a hard time, just some constructive criticism. Just my 2 cents.
  7. You might want to add this to it "and survivors will be shot again".
  8. Welcome to TGO!
  9. Sounds like you need a good attorney. +1 on mikegideon's "It don't pay to piss people off".    Don't take this the wrong way because I mean no offense, but a little piece of advice; you are in TN now not NY.
  10. Glad he was not hurt worse. Not really your fault whitewolf in any way, your buddy really should not have given it to you for cleaning loaded and he is responsibe for checking it for himself and making sure where it is pointed when he pulls the trigger. I am sure everyone has learned a good lesson here. When handling firearms around others I generally like to have the mag out, action open, slide locked back, cylinder open, etc.   I have always disliked having to pull the trigger on the striker fired pistols before teardown. Even when I have double checked the chamber I still go outside and aim it at the ground when I pull the trigger and then come back inside for the teardown and cleaning. I have never felt comfortable with dry firing because it goes against my rules of always loaded, don't touch the trigger until ready to fire, etc.   Hope he gets better and I know this was not easy for you either but it could have been much worse.
  11. Welcome to TGO!
  12. I just saw some good prices on the CTR stock as a kit at Pegasus Defense for $99,, and the MOE kit is $86. http://www.pegasusdefense.com/store/products/254/ctr-stock-kit-mil-spec They also have free shipping on orders over $249. FREE249 is the coupon code.   They seem to have some good prices on other items. Anybody ever deal with them? I may try them out on the stock kit.
  13. I think you are on the right track Vontar. I believe we have just seen the work of a grandstanding village idiot.   Let the kids have some candy on Halloween. It is not really the time or place for this woman to make such determinations on who is overweight. If she can't give everyone candy she should not give any out at all.
  14. Let us know how it works out. Amazon is hard to beat. If I find something on another site I usually check Amazon to see if they have it cheaper.
  15. Welcome to TGO!
  16. Bill's Outpost in Alcoa had several for sale when i was in there a few weeks ago. Not sure but i think they had them priced around $140.
  17. Welcome to TGO! +1 on building an AR in the near future.

    Home Carry

Vontar, that car must be a real gem. My luck if I had a for sale sign on it no one would ever call or stop by. Sounds a little fishy.   I have been know to carry around the house every once in a while but most times just rely on the ones that are strategically placed in the house.
  20. Lived in TN all my life and I have never heard of any law like that. I used to be in the bus transportation business up until 2 years ago, also never heard of it there either. Sounds like they made that up.
  21. I guess the price of dirt fluctuates.
  22. I left my factory front sight alone on my 1894 and just put the Williams on the rear. Ishel mentioned fiber optic and I saw that Midway had the package either way.   I currently have mine back with the rear factory sight. I need to put the peep sight back on it and try it out some more. There's just something about the old leverguns.
  23. You're welcome. I don't know about you but the 1894 is probably up at the top of my list as my favorite most fun to shoot firearm. I bought mine at a gun show in Knoxville about 7 years ago and I love it.
  24. It's hard to say, lots of scammers out there now days. I catch myself being a little too cynical sometimes. I think you did the right thing by talking with them and sometimes some positive encouragement could make a big difference to someone who is down and trying to work their way back up.   I they are scamming people they will be the ones who have to live with what they do. It is hard to believe that people still go door to door now days. I would not want to go around knocking on doors asking for money or whatever.   I'm lucky I guess, I do not get a lot of people at my door since I live out in a rural area, long winding driveway. Just the local rescue squad fund raiser once a year and the Jehovah's Witnesses. The rescue squad is legit and the Jehovah's Witnesses only stay for a minute and drop off a pamphlet. One time the Jehovah's Witnesses pulled up and I had the chainsaw in my hand after cutting a limb that was hanging down where I mow along the woods. I was thinking it was too bad I didn't have a hockey mask close by to put on quick. All joking aside they are nice people and although I am not a member of their faith I do respect their devotion to what they believe in. Still i would prefer to be left alone.
