  2. Welcome to TGO!
  3. I'm not a hunter but I can say my Marlin 1894C 357/ 38 is one of my favorite rifles. These rifles make a great companion with a 357 revolver. I don't think you need a scope for the less than 100 yard range you are going for. +1 for the Williams sight, I have one on mine. They are cheap to shoot with the 38's and I feel like the 357 should have no problem taking a TN deer under 100 yards but then again I am no hunter.   Great rifle, I have had mine for 7 years now.
  4. Here are some household uses: http://www.rd.com/home/150-household-uses-for-vinegar/2/   Other uses and health benefits: http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-5875/15-Reasons-to-Use-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-Every-Day.html   Check out the Braggs organic apple cider vinegar. I mix it with a little honey and lemon juice in a glass of water several times a day. Been doing it for 3 years now. I can vouch for the weight loss, more energy, etc. It works. I haven't been sick in a long time either, knock on wood. I use the cheap acv for household use and the good stuff for my drink.
  5. Glad she is back home safe. Thoughts and prayers go out to you. I have a 17 year old daughter and 19 year old son so I feel for you. Can't imagine what you just went through.
  6. Welcome to TGO!
  7. Welcome to TGO! I am not young and I live about an hour away from you. Lots of great guys and good info here on TGO.
  8. I carry my USP40 decocked with the safety on. I prefer the DA along with the safety for carrying. Not sure why you would not use the safety but to each his own. I don't really see the comparison to the striker fired pistols, seems like apples & oranges since they operate quite differently from my understanding.    If I carried a 1911 cocked without the safety it would feel the same to me as carrying a revolver cocked. I would feel very uneasy, but then again I always wear my seat belt when driving because I don't feel right without it on. Just my 2 cents. I think you will have to go with what you feel most comfortable with.
  9. +1 for baking soda. Great list, there are a few on there I did not know about. Another product to keep on hand is apple cider vinegar, it has a multitude of uses around the house also.
  10. Thanks to all you guys at CMT, and to MacGyver and all at TGO that helped get this organized, hats off. I can't wait to make the trip to Oak Ridge and pick mine up.
  11. I keep a .357 SP101 as my office desk drawer gun. I also carry it occasionally in an IWB holster from Simply Rugged. I love it. I also have a J-frame Ladysmith .38spl as a nightstand gun. I usually carry a semi auto but will occasionally carry the wheelguns.
  12. Hope they arrive to the Oak Ridge FFL soon! I'm ready to put something together, I've got everything needed to assemble 1 and some of the items for the 2nd one. I'm getting restless.
  13. I don't know of anything in your area but I did hear from a retired former coworker that he is going to be selling a farm in Loudon County, TN. He had inherited it years ago and there is no house on it. He sold the mobile home that was there to someone who is moving it off the property to another location. I think there are quite a few fruit bearing trees on the property from what I have heard him say over the years.   If I hear any more about this deal I will let everyone know.  You never know you may want to relocate to the hills of East TN.
  14. I was so glad to hear she was found ok. Thoughts and prayers go out to you as you are dealing with this situation.
  15. Tragic for all involved. I have went outside plenty of times to check noises usually raccoon or squirrel on the porch or a dog. I live out in the country so I don't tend to call 911 every time I hear a noise outside. My driveway is 1/3 mile long and the area is wooded so you can't see my house from the road. We don't get a lot of unannounced visitors especially at night. It does not seem out of place to me to go outside to check a noise or suspicious activity on your property however you are still subject to follow the law.    The only time I have had someone come up unannounced at night I heard a knock at the front door at 3am and went to the door with my 12ga and it was a Sheriff's Deputy telling me there was a car accident out at the road and he thought it took out my fence but it turned out it was on the neighbors property. I just set the shotgun down and leaned it in the corner while talking to him. Later while we were down at the road the officer commented that most times late at night people are armed when they come to the door like that and it was not the first time he had seen that.   My grandmother had Alzheimer's and my wife's mother is in the beginning stages of it now so I know a little about that. When my grandmother still lived at her home my dad and his sisters would take turns staying with her and they had to put alarms on the doors because she was trying to leave the house at night saying she was "going home". She would get very frustrated and say that was not her house so they took her for a visit back to the old homeplace but she did not like that either. She had lived in this same house for over 40 years but she kept talking about a different house. This disease does not follow logic and rational thinking so there is no telling what was going on in the victim's mind at the time. The victim may have thought that he was at his own house when he went to the shooter's house, he could have even thought the shooter was a trespasser. Nobody will ever know for sure what he was thinking.   Justified or not I am sure none of us want to shoot anyone much less an unarmed innocent person. It is just a reminder that along with the hcp and carrying of weapons comes a tremendous responsibility. All we can do is hopefully learn from these experiences.
  16. Be the better man and stay calm and ignore them. Best to not let them get you riled up. I would not waste THP's time with something like this, no real crime just your word against his as to what happened.   Since getting my hcp 11 years ago I have had a whole new attitude toward this type of situation. Better to stay away from it and keep your cool if you are carrying. Not sure if you were or not.   I know it is easier to say this when not involved but better to just ignore a drive-by cussing or gesture than to let it escalate further.Just my 2 cents.
  17. Thoughts and prayers for you and your wife. Let us know how she does.
  18. They have no say in the matter but remember the old saying about opinions. I think a more normal reaction as a parent would be to hide from the media due to being ashamed and embarrassed by the actions of their child. Just my 2 cents.   Out on bail from the previous robbery and is already out robbing again, does not surprise me.
  19. Were they "black" helicopters?
  20. I can't believe they snubbed Richard Simmons! He seems like a poster child for liberals.   Maybe they would have more in common with Eddie Murphy's old SNL character, Little Richard Simmons, http://screen.yahoo.com/little-richards-simmons-show-000000345.html.
  21. Welcome to TGO!
  22. You did nothing wrong Greg, don't sweat it. The seller should have informed you of the rebuilt title. Good thing you caught it and backed out of the deal.   My dad bought a Honda that had been rebuilt and it had paperwork from the state showing it had passed an inspection and had a metal plate like a vin plate showing it had been rebuilt and inspected by the state. The seller was very upfront about this when he looked at the car and provided all the paperwork with the title, it was a good deal so he bought it.
  23. Just received my order from DSG Arms yesterday. They have really good deal on Magpul MOE stock kit with buffer tube, handguard, and grip. All colors are the same price, $99 with free shipping. http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/MGMOEKITOD.aspx   This was my first order from them but they got it right and it shipped fast. They have some good deals, especially on Magpul items, check them out.
  24. Welcome back home to TN and welcome to TGO! Thanks for your service and sacrifice for our country.   Although I am not a benefactor and I am still a newcomer myself I have observed that the classifieds are much better here than other sites. Having to invest something to post in the classifieds cuts down on scams and nonsense for sure.
