  1. How did we end up in Crackerville?
  2. Welcome to TGO! Thank for your service!   I was raised up here in Blount County, TN, Maryville is a good area, you'll like it.
  3. Sounds like an A&E publicity stunt to me. Ask the man a question when you already know what his response will be, then make a big fuss over his answer and "suspend filming".
  4. On the bright side, the new landlord may rather retain the existing occupants rather than have to search for new ones and have vacant properties after a rate increase. Never rule out negotiating with them either.   I own rental property Bersaguy and although  am no pushover I have made my share of exceptions over the years. Hope it works out ok for you. It is very hard to find good renters sometimes so I am sure they would much rather retain you than take their chances on someone who may not pay or who might damage their property. You already have a good history in this property so you have that going for you.
  5. Thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time. Pets are great to have around and I agree they can tell when we are down. Many times the holiday season is tough on us by bringing up past memories but try to remember the good times and look ahead to the future of a new year. This too shall pass.
  6. +1 on the other suggestions, I have the leather sling and peep sight on mine. I have a Marlin 1894C 38/ 357 and my wife got me a flip up target something like this; http://www.milestactical.com/SS6306.html. That an an ammo can of Georgia Arms .38 ammo and you can get pretty good with the old levergun.
  7. I think there are still a lot of the M1008 military cucv axles from the chevy p/u around, dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear with 4.56 gears. I think they had detroit lockers in the rear.   Check out this site; http://www.hillbillywizard.com/axles.html. I have not done business with them but there are a lot of good pics on there.
  8. I just sold the perfect donor truck to a guy doing basically what you are wanting to do. I had on '80 3/4 ton suburban 4x4 with 14 bolt rear, 10 bolt front and 4.11 gears, SM465 4spd manual, NP205 t-case. I had already built the 350 to go back in it and decided not to finish it.   He's going to transplant all the running gears into his '84 Chevy truck about like your but not near as nice. The body on the suburban was pretty rough and I ran out of steam/ funds on the project. Used the money to fund TGO lower black rifle projects instead.
  9. I will give the same advice that I just gave one of my employees prior to jacking up his truck. I told him to keep a stuffed sock in his pocket and save the money. He did not listen.   Nice trucks. My 2 cents, forget the gears, lift, and big tires and if you feel the need to spend money build you a stout 350 for it. Your mileage will definitely vary. As my dad would say, "pass everything but the gas station".
  10. Not a bad idea. I am on-call for our business on a rotating schedule. I use the theme song from the old tv show Chips; http://www.televisiontunes.com/Chips.html. Got woke up by it 3 times this week, it works good. It takes awhile to get back to sleep though. Sorry for the thread hijack.    Rough neighborhood there kingarmory?
  11. It might be good business to watch yourself when doing transactions/ giving away free stuff with these guys with zero posts or only 1 or 2, but I'm sure you guys already know that.   It's a shame you can't even give something away for free without some bs.   This just reinforces the need to have benefactor status before posting in the classifieds, just think of all the crap that would be going on if not for that. I'm glad to see TGO does not tolerate this type of thing, see my signature quote below.
  12. Welcome to TGO!
  13. Is that a pager next to the bic lighter? Haven't seen one of them in a while.

    Doorknockers

That was the first thing that came to mind also. Nobody else ever knocks on my door but them.
  15. Prayers inbound. Keep us updated on his condition.
  16. I have never texted and I have my cell phone set to not send or receive them. I only use it for talking and then only when absolutely needed, mostly for work, and outgoing calls at that.    I do email but mainly just for work and only at my desktop computer at my office. I'm just not that into being that connected all the time. I long for a simple life most of the time anyway.
  17. It's good that you are teaching that to your kids, good life skills to know for sure. I still remember learning a lot of these things in Boy Scouts 30 years ago.    I built a fire pit out of an old truck brake drum and use it outside sometimes for cooking. I also have a wood stove inside that I can cook on in a pinch.
  18. Simply Rugged has some good prices on custom leather holsters; http://www.simplyrugged.com/. I have one of the silver dollar pancake holsters for a revolver but I don't have one for any of my semi autos, great quality and I really like the holster.   I have also found that Fobus paddle holster is a good general purpose holster and they are reasonable priced; http://www.opticsplanet.com/s/glock-17-fobus?sort=price-asc. I have one of them for most all of my semi auto handguns.
  19. How many holes were in the car door? Sounds like a good class. Was this an outdoor range that he set up?
  20. Welcome to TGO!
  21. Welcome to TGO!   You might do better with the rifle comparison in long guns. I am a newcomer myself but thought you might get more replies there.
  22. My office is about a mile from there, I drive through that industrial park everyday but did not know it was there. I will have to check it out.   I think they are in the old Motorola Communications building from what the map pulled up. Thanks for posting this.
  23. Welcome to TN & TGO!
