Pending Gun EO Chatter, Update See Post #114
dawgdoc replied to runco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Didn't they have to change the weapons-free school law so that it read something like it is illegal in the school zone to possess a gun ever used in interstate commerce just to get around the uncostitutional power grab? Not saying it makes sense, but I would imagine they would try to use that angle. -
I have personally seen a dead adult cougar on I-16, and a few years later, my parents saw a dead juvenile cougar on a different part of the same highway. According to the game officials in Florida, they find roadkilled cougars often enough that they are skeptical of claims of eastern cougars outside Florida (they feel that there would be at least one killed on the road eventually).

Firefly will have you itching for the next season.....

I wished Jericho had survived longer, and the same with Revolution. I just realized that both shows featured an independent Republic of Texas in direct opposition to the US government that rose from the ashes of a recent cataclysm. Makes sense that Texas would be one of the few states with land and natural resources to continue functioning as a country. In both cases, the remnants of the established government (i.e., our current government in Washington) become the bad guys on both shows.

Network tv: Supernatural, The 100, Heroes Reborn, Agents of Shield, The Flash Cable tv (via streaming services): The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones. I've watched both seasons of The Leftovers; I'm intrigued but confused. My son really likes time travel, so he loves The Flash and Doctor Who, and he appreciates the time travel on Heroes Reborn. Not sure about in depth characters, but all of these have an overall story arc that connects things together, and the ones with time travel and alternate universes get even more in depth. Also, I recently read a Lost wiki page, which lead me to a greater appreciation of the show than when I first saw it. I have only seen most of the episodes once; the wiki page almost had me wanting to watch the entire show again.

In Under the Dome, Stephen King had a major plot point of using a lot of propane for meth production; is there any truth to that, or did he just make it up? It wasn't clear to me if it was just used for the cooking, or if it was used in the chemical make-up of meth. The huge stockpile of propane became an issue near the end of the book.

I went with my wife to her family reunion near San Jose; it sincerely felt like being in another country. Her family is Filipino, so they all have dark black hair. We went to a mall and I got separated from my wife; usually I can just find her by seeing her dark hair just slightly taller than the clothes racks. Not this time--there must have been twenty women in the store who looked like her. I think this mall had the only location in America for a popular Filipino restaurant chain called Jollibee. I had assumed that hispanics were the primary minority, but I was wrong. This area had a bunch of tech companies, and the racial make-up appeared to be Asian, Indian, hispanic, non-hispanic white, and black, in that order.

Making a non-slip holster. Ideas needed.

Remora sells their fabric in strips: http://www.remoraholsterstore.com/REMORA-NON-SLIP-STRIPS-p/nss.htm, but it may not work for a DIY holster, according to the site. -
Least happy and most miserable cities in Tennessee

That could be a description of Derry, Maine. -
Invisible Fence has an indoor unit, and it sounds like Dog Watch has something similar. It creates a smaller field that can be used indoors. An alternative for cats is called Ssscat. It is basically canned air with a motion sensor that sets it off, sending a "shhhhhhhhh" sound toward the cat. Cats hate it, and it is quite entertaining to watch. We used to use one to keep the cats away from or bedroom dooe in the morning. They only set it off twice before they learned. We would find them sitting at the end of the hall waiting for us.

I recall some speculation about the killer attacking the military to cleanse his own sins (based on his browser history), but I haven't heard anything about it since the summer. I also don't remember if they have stated what guns he used and where he got them.

In the comics, he becomes instrumental to addressing their ammo shortage. I would like them to include this just so a wider audience can get exposed to the idea of reloading.

Florida panthers are the same species as mountain lions, cougars, pumas, catamounts--Puma concolor; it is further classified but disputed as a subspecies. In other words, it is currently treated as "more special" than other populations, even though it may not be. If any population of Puma concolor was discovered east of the Mississippi outside Florida, it would basically automatically be classified as endangered since the USFWS used to recognize a separate eastern cougar subspecies as different than the Florida panther subspecies. So any confirmed eastern cougars would either be the last know individual of a near extinct population, or it would be classified as a Florida panther outside of Florida. They would have admit they were wrong at that point, and would we put it past our government to punish an individual who brought such concrete evidence to light? I would still advise not to shoot one without a good reason because of the legal reprucussions.

Here is the intro: I think the technology is supposed to be what could be salvaged and recreated without microchips, so it will look like tech from the 70's or before. The "no guns" thing was due to the treaty among the barons, and it may be so long ago that modern firearm technology is lost. Blackpowder technology may be brutally suppressed. It may be inspired by the Japanese feudal system that persisted long past the rest of the world has move on in technology. Perhaps they are an oasis surrounded by a nuclear wasteland, and the original barons were able to completely eradicate firearms from this relatively limited geographical area. Don't we always talk about how governments disarm the people in order to consolidate their power? The current barons are enjoying the benefits when they can pick and choose who gets trained to fight while everyone else is just a "cog." It seems like the show is a great example of what happens when the common man is disarmed--a bleak dystopia in which there a few masters and everyone else is a slave. If you can't defend your property, then eventually it will be taken from you.

I think we need to give the little kid a break. He is living in the Apocalypse, his father beat him, then murdered a man, and was executed, and now he is literally surrounded by monsters who want to eat them alive. A real kid would be a wailing wreck with all that. Not every kid is Carl. It wouldn't be unrealistic for him to be frozen in a catatonic state or just screaming incessantly.

Money and value influences why most people to cut the cord, I would think. Money--some people just cannot afford the bill anymore. Value (my case)--what I got for the money was not worth it. I can afford to have cable, but I don't like wasting money on things I don't use.

FWIW, the cat is doing the "gape reflex" after it smells the ground. You'll sometimes see house cats do the same thing--their mouth hangs slightly open as they process the scent molecules in an organ in the roof of the mouth. I assume the lion was smelling some type of scent used to attract deer.

In Georgia, you must move out of the far left lane if a car is approaching from behind at a greater speed, no matter how fast you are going. It used to only apply if you were under the speed limit. Doesn't apply in the metro areas. Since it passed, I have become more aware of way too many people who cruise in the left lane, but I never see anyone being caught.

Just remember everyone, if you shoot one, make sure you use the phrase "in fear of my life or bodily harm," or maybe don't tell the authorities: http://www.fws.gov/southeast/news/2011/11-057.html

Ask the guy in Georgia who killed one how that turned out for him. As for this one, I'm sure they'll just say it is a wandering male from out west.

My take is the the Man in the High Castle really wants all the films, and he is willing to use both sides to get them. It appears that he is willing to pay anything to get them, including doing things that would seem counter to his side's interest. Maybe because he knows that their reality is not concrete, he doesn't really care what happens in the short term. When I first started watching it, I assumed that the Nazis acquired (or were given from the future) some technology that allowed them to see the future, which altered their war plans to include a first strike on America using the H-bomb. Perhaps they were just given films of their own, and having used them to change the world, they want every single one produced because of the potential power contained in them. At first we thought the films were just alternate history, but apparently at least one film shows the future yet to be, so they could be scrambling to scoop them up to continue planning their next move.

They are getting back on track of following the comic storyline, but they have history of taking elements and applying them to other characters (Dale loses the leg in the comics and then gets eaten by cannibals later; Tyrese was the one decapitated by the Governor). So we can't actually say for sure, and its just speculation, but the way they seem to be setting up Carl's conflict with angst kid suggests that it may happen. Since Carl may have plot armor that prevents his death, and his has already been shot in the body once, losing an eye seems logical. The only question is when and how. I figure it is a 50/50 chance the kid either tries to outright murder him or he is a lousy shot when trying to shoot a walker.
-
Since Rick didn't lose a hand for which I assume is the practical reason of having to digitally remove it in every scene, I wonder how bad exactly Carl will get injured? I'm thinking it won't look as dramatic as the comic. He may just look like a lil' Governor when it is all done.

It may be hard to find one specifically without chicken just because it is such a common protein. My most recommended diet food, Hill's Metabolic, has chicken. You can try dividing his feedings into multiple smaller meals so he thinks he is eating more.
