Could you tell if they were getting extra business from convention attendees?
-
I've read all the books, and based on what I know, it seems like some of the story only has this season left before they run out of material. Some of the scenes that I have heard being filmed I know are near the end of the most recent book. I heard that whenever GRRM is asked when the next book will come out, he threatens to kill Tyrion.

Bran and Hodor apparently do not even appear this season because their story is caught up to the books.

I'm trying, but so far no response to my thread in prohibited locations: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/87103-nashville-tourist-locations-state-museum-hermitage-and-such/

I had a thought the other day. Progressive liberals seem to think, and constantly push, the notion that any criminal can buy a full-automatic rifle at any gun show with no background check. Yet if that was true, they should also be clamoring for increased school security in American to prevent the type of attack that happened last week at the Kenyan college. The logic follows that if any terrorist could get an AK-47, then it is only a matter of time before a school will be attacked, but they don't seem to be too concerned about that. They only want to keep lawful licensed carriers from bringing guns on school campuses. If true assault rifles were that easy to get, a truly concerned person would want to both remove the guns from future use while simultaneously preparing to face the current threat. Instead, they just use the concern for terrorism as a flimsy excuse to keep guns from everyone.

The concert at the Bridgestone arena is sold out.

I have a tangentially related question. My wife wants to do other stuff in Nashville while we are there, so we are staying Saturday night (with our 9-year old son). Any suggestions for things to do, preferably at places that aren't posted? DaveTN said most tourist places are posted, but I'm not even sure what those places are. Honestly, the only things in that vein that I even know about in Nashville are the Grand Ole Opry and The Hermitage. We won't be going to bars/nightclubs/etc, and I plan on mainly being at the convention.

That is about like one of the theories I have said in the past (can't remember if it was here). It is the Komodo dragon effect--their bite is toxic not because of venom, but because of the sheer amount of bacteria in their mouth. Walkers could have similar toxic bacteria, which could explain why a bite eventually kills you. It could also explain the variability in how long people are sick before dying. Morgan even mentioned that one of the first signs of sickness was the incredibly high fever. It is not that the bite transmits the Walker germ, but rather it is a source of other infection. If we wanted to speculate further, it would be that the bacteria in saliva is unique and not found in other body tissues, hence why you can get a face full of blood, guts, etc. A somewhat similar real world application is rabies--it is almost exclusively transmitted through saliva (the virus travels along nerves and then moves into the salivary gland). However, you could also be exposed by brain tissue into a wound, so it is not a complete analogous disease. I know this can't explain the whole deal; for example, was saliva ever dripping into Rick's face? But in terms of suspension of disbelief, it goes a long ways. One of the important things is that everyone is already infected; so the only thing that needs to be explained is why bites are worse than any other exposure to Walker body fluids. This is in contrast to fiction such as 28 Days Later, in which any body fluid infects you. The Walking Dead would be much harder to excuse if they weren't already infected. There is a chance that the cannibals' reactions were due to them not knowing that everyone is infected, but you would have thought they would have that figured out, unless they happened to smash the head of anyone who died and never saw a natural-dead person re-animate. Maybe they ate them too fast before the dead could rise.

Some men just want to watch the world burn. They seem to have a break with reality. Notice how they broadcast their group wherever they seem to go.

Need to share this with y'all, and I figure this thread was the right place: http://news.vin.com/VINNews.aspx?articleId=36295&callshare=1

I think that Aaron's pictures had people in them this time, and I thought that I saw Rick, Carl, and Judith in one of them that the Wolf hesitated on.

Aaron dropped his bag when the walker grabbed it, I think.

If you want a pseudoscientific explanation: Certain real medical conditions can cause bone to be soft--necrosis (from infection), osteoporosis, or osteosarcoma. Therefore the idea that bone can soften is a real thing, in certain situations. Perhaps the biological process that results in reanimation leads to either (1) necrosis of the skull (since it is presumed to be an infection) or (2) calcium leaching from the bones (and starts at the skull since long bones are used for locomotion) because calcium is needed for muscle movement. Either one could explain skulls softer than a living human.

NRA 2015 Annual Meetings and Exhibits, Nashville TN
dawgdoc replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I joined the first week of March; still have not got the member card. Called the member services, they gave me the number, registered for the convention maybe 10 days ago, and received the badges today. -
I found out last week that one of my LC9 magazines that I have had for a few years was disengaging when the slide was racked. My other magazines were made in Italy; this one was made in the USA. The metal looks different, but everything else looks the same. They sent me a new Italian magazine and an envelope to send back the other magazine. The new magazine did not have any issues today. They also completely refunded my money for a Mini 14 (after trying to fix the original one three times and then sending a replacement). Customer service is great, but I wonder about the quality control.

I think that she was referring the phenomena that child actors change so quickly and sometimes get written off rather than adapt or explain their age (like Walt on Lost). I suspect that they will follow the comics closely in regard to Carl and Rick. The creator is on record as saying that the story is about Rick, and when he dies, presumably the story ends. Obviously that doesn't protect Carl, though. I think Nicholas will end up dead. I bet the Alexandrians make a big deal about Rick's contraband stolen gun, and then get a wake-up call when they discover one of their own did basically the same thing that Rick did (steal a gun and keep it secret). I would be surprised if anymore of the main cast dies this season, but I could see a lot of the extras in the Safe Zone becoming red shirts, like what happened with the Woodbury survivors at the prison. That would fit the producer's description of a lot of human blood.

You know what's the only difference between a rectal thermometer and an oral thermometer? Taste.

So, maybe the "W's" are carved into the heads while they are alive, like a crazy Manson cult or something?

Apparently it is derived from stories the author told his children on car rides. I think I first read it in 5th grade, and then again for my Honors English class. I have always wanted to name a pet rabbit "General Woundwort" but never had the chance. The rabbit that I have now fits his personality but already has a name, and she is female.

Anyone read Watership Down? The animated movie was good, but not as good as the book. For those of you who don't know, the story follows a group of rabbits who have to leave their home shortly before it is destroyed, and then they wander the countryside looking for a new home. Along the way, they encounter different rabbit groups that reflect different ways that humans have governed themselves. Their original group had a definite hierarchy, with a police force and a chief, but they were relatively free. The last group they meet is intensely controlled by a militaristic dictator rabbit, with very little freedom. In between, they meet a warren of fat, happy rabbits who have a man-made, spacious warren free from predators (called The Warren of the Snares). Except the rabbits don't talk about the ones who go missing; they just accept that anyone of them might die one day and they don't dwell on it. (A farmer was providing food for the rabbits and trapping them every now and then). If the Governor is analogous to General Woundwort, the dictator rabbit, then the Alexandria Safe-Zone may be the Warren of the Snares. They all are happy and their comforts are provided for, but when someone gets taken by Walkers, they seem like, "Oh, well. That's life." I'm not actually saying that The Walking Dead is using Watership Down as source material, but there are some similarities. That is the type of literature analysis that I would come up with for my high school and college English classes. It always sounded like BS to me, but I could string together stuff in a way that made really good BS, or at least the teachers believed it.

Tell them to look south if they are worried and appeal to their state pride. If Georgia can do it without any problems, why can't Tennessee? I'm beginning to think that trying to use facts and logic is a losing game. Whenever someone mentions that guns shouldn't be allowed in parks, I tell them about my 90-pound wife who is frequently accompanied by my 9-year old son. The vast majority of people (teenager and older) could overpower her by force, and the only realistic method of defense is a gun and the will to use it. The only logical argument one could construe is that they think the chance of her going crazy and killing someone outweighs the potential for self defense. Yet they act like that is a non-issue; they just ignore it. It's like they think that if sacrificing my wife's safety keeps the supposed knuckle-dragging rednecks and criminals from carrying in their parks, then it is worth it to them. They always say, "think about the children!" until someone wants to actually protect their children effectively.

I think Nicholas is going to lie and say Glen abandoned the other two. Rick's group will know it is BS, but the ASZ people will remember Glen beating Aiden. Eugene cannot honestly give testimony as to what happened for sure, so it becomes one guy's word against the other.

What about letting each kid live in it for a few years, and then it passes to the next (starting with the oldest). Seems somewhat wacky, but that is basically what my family did with cars. I know that this is a much grander scale. Just an alternative idea. If I got to live some place rent/mortgage free for say three years, and I put aside that money each month, I would have a nice down payment for whatever house I would then choose. Besides, all the current and prospective spouses might want to live in a house that they get to choose rather than get by default. My wife and I got a bunch of furniture from family as we moved from college to real life; eventually we could start buying what we really wanted, rather than living with what we had. Similar concept on a grander scale. I used to hear people say that the first house you live in is your starter house, but you don't intend to live there forever. (I imagine that attitude has changed since recession hit). If they each got to use it for a few years, it would be their starter house for each couple, yet they would eventually be expected to move on.

Well, Sling was working at 8:45 pm, but it is not at 9 pm. It appears they may may have underestimated their ability to deliver to the new subscribers like me who signed up mainly to watch The Walking Dead. Between that and the games on ESPN, I bet their servers crashed from too many people. Maybe I'll get to watch at 11 pm.
