  1. +1 Yotes may run in packs but Bobcats are normally loners and Yotes won't stay where Bob cat have marked their territory......Can't compete for food against the cats
  2. Well I am not sure if it would really make a whole lot of difference if the stats where kept. Between the anti-gun people and the bias News Medias they would get distorted or Muddy it up so bad it probably would not make a lot of difference anyway. The Left/Anti-Gun, bias news medias don't want anything to come out of legal gun ownership or legal carry in any shape of form to be a positive note. It would make their jobs much much harder if that happened...........JMHO
  3. Has anyone ever found any of what could be considered accurate statistics showing how many non-LEO good guy civilians with CCL guns have stopped a bad guy with a gun to save their own life or the lives of others? I know not many News Medias like to say anything positive about the good guy acting in a good way to save someone or them selves by being legally armed but there has got to be some stats somehwere??????
  4. Welcome to Tennessee. Thanks you for your service!
  5. Ok, that I can understand. So Memphis actually has more murders than Chicago yet Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country which tells me what good are laws when you have a populace that does not fear the police or obey the laws. It does not put a lot of support behind anti gun people with a record like Illinois has with the laws. It also says alot about Memphis but then again doing a little googling of my own many of the shootings that take place are in West Memphis Arkansas and not in Tennessee. Probably does not mean anything and all considered as Memphis Tennessee in crime stats.
  6. I'm not to smart as I have said before about some things and I am trying to make sense of what your statement means. Make it a little easier on a not so smart old man please!
  7. Well My Tok was a 762x25 and as I got older it became a handful for me to shoot and I sure hated selling it but wanted someone to have it that could enjoy it like I did and I didn't want to make it a Safe Queen.
  8. If you look at the states that are the most against guns period they are all mostly controlled by Democrats. You will be hard pressed to find a red state that is against guns as much as any blue state. For the most part it seems to be just a control issue more than a gun issue. Illinois has some of the most strict laws in the country and has one of the largest crime rate related to guns and all they do is blame surrounding states for selling guns to Illinois residents which any one with any sense can see through that smoke screen. In many ways I think Chicago does not do anything about the gun issue in Chicago so they can use it as a crutch for the entire state. I lived in that state back in the 50's and mid 60's and at the age of 12 I legally bought my first hand gun and already owned several shotguns for hunting. I still have a friend I grew up with that still lives up there and he has told me you have to jump through HOOPS every year just to be able to buy a hunting license. He said it is almost like a back ground check to purchase a long gun. I'm sure glad my folks moved me back to my mothers home here in Tennessee when they did.
  9. I'm guessing your 100% correct. I would bet the Supreme Court is going to leave it up to each state to make their own laws regarding who can carry in their state which in many ways is probably the best way to do it. That way if people want to get the laws changed in that state they can do it at the voting booths in that state...........JMHO. I am happy with almost all of the laws in Tennessee except they need to do something about the Gun Buster signs but I don't ever see that happening because that is telling a business owner how to operate his or her business. I have just quit doing business with any wearing the signs cause there is another business down the road that does not have signs that sells to same items................
  10. I guess I have know Big John and Little John Hopkins for about 25+ years. I remember when Lil John really got into Bass fishing and was very good at it. He wanted to go Pro but big John had other plans for him.....lol When Lil John got married his dad retired and gave him Kelmar Wholsale and Fate Sanders Marina which of course ended his dream of Pro bass fishing because it took up all of his time running the businesses. As far as hunting Priest lake I have also hunted it but only on the Islands during Muzzle Loader or Bow and had to get to them by boat. I don't think they allow you to hunt them anymore. Have not been in many years. There may be a chance I met your father at Fate Sanders Marina while he was drinking coffee over there. I would go back when Big John was running it and when Lil John took it over. I was there about a year ago but don't go up there much now because I night fish and the marina resturant is closed at night. Your mother was very correct when she said getting old is not for Sissies!!!!! Hope you have that Back Strap on Christmas as its a tradition that needs to continue.......
  11. What caliber are they. I had a buddy that had one of them and he had 2 different barrels for his and he could shoot 9MM or 762x25 ammo in it. We use to go to the range and I would shoot my Tokarev and he would shoot his Makarov. I sold my Tok a few years back and justa couple weeks ago I sold the last of the 762x25 ammo to a member here. I enjoyed shooting the Tok but as I got older it became a little much for my ability to hold it tight enough. I think he sold his also for about the same reason a little later.
  12. I would say since you have had success with your model 94 30-30 which is by all means a great gun you might look at staying with a 30-30 and move to a Marlin with a scope. Should be a fairly easy transformation over as your still using a lever gun like you have been using for years.........JMHO
  13. Ok!! Finally a topic I might be able to add some information to. My first recomendation is to do as much research on what ever breed of dog you may have. Also talk with your Vet and get there recomendations on this topic. I have had dogs all my life and for the first 17 years I grew up in upper Illinois where is got really cold and windy. We had a garage and a pedestrian door with a doggie door in it. I have Beagles that I hunted with and I had mutts I adopted that pepole would drive out of Chicago and drop them on the country road we lived on. I was like a magnet to the strays as they always seem to find our home. Now with that said there were certain dogs I had that would come in the garage to eat but I don't care how cold it got they would sleep out side at night in dog houses filled with straw while others would sleep on beds in the garage. I often wonder about that over the years. Finally about 12 years ago while I had Kasey I had a igloo doggie house out beside the front door and even though I considered her more of an indoor dog she at times would have other ideas. That was why I ask my Vet about it. She told me that because we were never really sure of her breed mix she did have many traits that one of her parents may have been a cold weather door because Kasey had about 4 seperate layers of hair and a coat of downe against her skin like a fur coat it was easy for her to control her body temps by going in and out as she wanted to. Her favorate place to lay was out in the carport under the boat on the concrete floor from early Spring through late Fall and in the winter she would come in and I kept the heat vents turned off in my storage room and had her bed in there and she would sleep in there in very cold nights and in the dog house on average nights. In this picture you can see the brown downe that covers Kaseys belly. My first and foremost recomendation would be ask your Vet what their recomendation would be best for your particular Partners situation.
  14. This topic was brought up on Fox News last night and I listened to what the people discussing it said and evidently this is a 2 part bill that was passed in the House but it was said by about three different people asked what they thought and all three said when it reaches the Senate it will be split into 2 seperate bills and voted on 1 at a time. Now since I am not all that smart maybe someone here can better explain what the 2 parts of this bill are. Like I said, I don't plan on leaving the state but I am sure many here do travel to other states and would like to carry while doing so. Now with that said, even if they do pass 1 or both in the Senate and Trump signs it does that really mean many of the states like NJ , NY, Mass, Maine, Illinois, California and other will abide by it. NJ has already said you will be arrested in their state if your armed from out of state. Yea you may win in court but is it worth the cost of legal fees to fight it if you do get arrested?.............JMHO
  15. Sounds like he lived a full life and I would be willing to bet I probably fish a lot of the Jigs he made for Hoppys. I had wholesale license back then and I bought a ton of Hoppy's Jigs, Spinner baits, Buzz baits and Black Lights. I was able to buy directly from Kelmar Wholesale. I still talk with Little John some if I am fishing Percy Priest lake and launch at Fate Sanders. If I am close by at lunch time I will run up to the marina to say hi to him and have lunch. Has been a year or so now as when I fish Priest now it is at night and the marina resturant is closed.
  16. Ever since I was old enough to know the real meaning of Christmas I have always done what my parents asked of me. They always said to be sure and Keep CHRIST in Christmas and I have and I passed that down to my children and they are passing it down to theirs. That would be all I want for Christmas is for everyone to "Keep CHRIST in Christmas"
  17. Just another reason for me to keep my butt right here in Tennessee......................
  18. Well back when I owned several more guns than I do at present I was concerned about securing them so I invested in a good safe for securing any guns I didn't have out for personal carry or house protection. Now I only have about 3 guns in the safe and 3 that are either every day carry or house protection and all I can say is good luck to a bad guy about finding any of them. They are not kept in a drawer but more of less in plain sight but yet are very very easy to over look. Many friends come to my home and never see them and they are all gun owners. Most all bad guys assume that valuables are always locked up or hid in drawers and they are always in a hurry to do an in and out and don't want to spend a long time looking once they realize there is a safe in the house. The assumption is most all the valuables are in the safe and they don't have time to try and get in it. Most bad guys also look for a security system. I don't have one but I do have 3 trail cameras also concealed yet in plain sight that I turn on when I am away from the house for any long period of time that do take some great pictures. No I don't have the best of anything to keep a bad guy out of my house but I do believe they will be disappointed when they leave with nothing or almost nothing.
  19. Well, as I mentioned earlier in another thread. The rush by all the people to get the bill on the floor it will get stuck in the Senate till at least the year 20/20 or later and then if politics change in the 2018 election it can be killed if anything changes in the Senate or House..............Not holding my breath on it but does not really effect me as it will some others because I don't plan on leaving Tennessee to go to any other state...............JMHO
  20. I think I gained 5 lbs just reading this thread................
  21. Not me but I am on schedule to age 95 with the amount of coffee I have each morning. I drink a 12 cup pot every morning................
  22. I think she needs to be commended for even getting involved and saving a police officer from possible death had the bad guy got to his firearm and maybe shot him and others in the area........JMHO
  23. I'm speechless!!!!!!!!!!!.....................
  24. I think that one was a few years ago but Mt Juliet has been hit I think 3 times this year!!!
  25. That is why I still have XP on my old computer and when I got this one it had Windows 7 on it and I don't plan on going up until I am literally force to. I have had a lot of folks tell me 10 purely sucks!!!!
