  1. I have pretty much thought the same way Mac. I figured their tips was probably half or more of their income and I still believe that to be true in the case of Waitresses, Waiters and Valet parking at the fancy clubs but the lady at the hospital I spoke with said that they are paid by the hospital but then again the workers in resturants are paid to but it is like 25% of Minimum wage per-hour and the rest is tips. I will probably go with the weather on how much between 3 & 5 bucks. I do know they park inside as I got to watch them the other day while waiting on my daughter. Gosh making decisions today can be hard...................
  2. Thanks HP for all the great advice on the parking issue and Valet uses. As I have gotten older I don't enjoy walking as much as I use to for more than about 50 feet so that was my main reason for asking. Back in 1978 when that truck pinned me between it and a wall it fractured both of my Pelvis's along with about 60% of the other bones in my body the doctor told me back then that I would heal fine because I was young at age 30 but I would remember that truck with every step at age 50. Well, the doctor missed it by about 5 years. It was 55 years old when I began to remember that truck and now at age 70 I feel it every time I stand up so I have a couple choices the way I see it. I can lay around and let it whip me by feeling sorry for myself or I can grit my teeth and get up and go. Normally I grit my teeth and deal with it but with just having a triple by-pass I think I will let the Valet park my old jeep for me this time.......
  3. I just spoke with the Doctors nurse to confirm my appointment and while I had her on the phone I asked he about the charge for Valet parking and she said it is free and the valets are paid by the hospital so I guess it is a tip thing like you said. Pretty much like a waitress in a resturant. I will make sure I have tip bills with me when I go cause I think it will be much easier on me than the alternative.................JMHO
  4. I've never used them before so don't know what is a good figure to give them. I know they stay very busy there. I stood there watching them work while waiting for my daughter to get parked and it took her about 10 minutes to find a space and another 10 to walk to where I was at waiting for her and those young men parking cars never slowed down and the longer I waited the longer the line of cars got for them to park them. I just don't think I am up to doing all the looking for a parking place and then maybe having to walk a mile + just to get to the doctors office. As far as bad weather like freezing rain or Snow. The doctor won't be seeing me that day!!!!
  5. The thought of Nasville Traffic is one of the headaches I will be facing with the followup visits to my doctor. He is located at 24th and Patterson at Centenial Doctors Pavilion next to the hospital and parking in a total nightmare. I would just use Valet Parking but don't have no clue how much it costs.?????
  6. I have not been buying anything new recently and still have my Bersas but need to just burn some powder through them and then take them down and clean them. Have not been since I lost my shooting buddy BT last February and have not been in the mood to go but another buddy of mine said he would like to burn some powder so when Doc turns me loose we are going.
  7. I do to soon as my doctor will turn me loose so I can go back to the range and burn some powder.
  8. Our instructors Chad had the patience of a Saint when we got down into the range. There was on elderly gentleman that came to take the test. He had a brand new S&W Snub 38spl still in the new box and he had never fired the gun. Everyone else had completed and where back in the class room and an hour and 10 minutes Chad and the Gentleman came back into the class room and he had passed the range test, three boxes of ammo later...........LOL Chad was determind to have a perfect class and he did.
  9. When I took mine the requirements where the same as yours. I shot 98% with my first round being head high 3 inches right. The next rounds all center mass. When the instructor was grading my target I saw a slight grin on his face and he looked up at me and said Lawyers Bullet and I just smiled and he graded it at 98%. They have made it a little harder to pass the shooting session than when we were shooting at them but since then I have downsized my targets to printer paper targets to keep up with whats going on with the classes. I will be glad when doctor turns me loose so I can get back in the range but he says 3 more weeks minimum.
  10. Don't cut yourself short HP!!! I'm guessing he still puts his pants on one leg at a time...........JMHO
  11. I don't know buddy but I do know one thing and that is they had someone watching over them cause I was getting ready to sending hot lead down wind soon as I saw the first weapon be a knife or a gun and just so happened that day I had the 85 and not the Thunder so had double stack 14 +1 with me in my hand and not 6+1. Thing is I don't think any of them were much over 12 or 13 years old except maybe to driver cause he had face hair but the rest of these where children!!! It would not have made me think any different about my actions to defend myself but I am sure these were just kids!!!!
  12. I'm in and confirmed and got my email under normal channels.
  13. Sorry to hear about your neighbor and what happen to him. It is about 50 yards to my mailbox from the house but for the last couple years there has been a gang of punks riding the streets looking for vulnerable people cutting grass, raking leaves or other odd jobs out side and they have been robbed at knifepoint. No one has seen a gun yet, always a knife or two. They beat up one guy for calling them punks and robbed him. They have a couple different vehicles they cruise around it so you have to be on your toes. I thought at one point they were going to try me because we have 3 driveways coming in to the triplex and they pulled in 1 driveway over and doors came open and I turned and squared on them with hand on Bersa under windbreaker in holster and all at once horn blew they stopped, got back in the Old Olds Cutless and drove away where I could not get a tag number. It was sure gonna get messy if they had brought knives to a gun fight. I look for them to come back in the Spring as they have the last 3 years. I'm also waiting for them to step up to guns from Knives.......JMHO
  14. Glad your friend liked the Bersa and it fit his needs. I don't walk to my mailbox out at the road without my Thunder!!!!
  15. Well, I'm a Bersa guy but this could be something I might could grow to like with a few boxes down range through it.............
  16. Well, considering I am pretty limited to hand guns and all of them are Bersa's I'm guessing my everyday carry is mostly my Model 85 w/14+1 magazine. It is slightly bulkier than the Bersa Thunder 7+1 magazine but since these days when I do go out I am normally dressed in loose confortable clothing which does a great job of keeping the 85 out of sight unless needed. I also have another 14 round mag in cell phone case on belt clip. I carry it 90% of the time but will pack a Thunder w/2 back up mags for quick trips to drive up windows to pick up stuff..................
  17. I don't know why but I kind of thought Turkeys were just a littke bit smarter than those birds acted but that I have never actually hunted turkeys but have killed a few during the season while hunting other game................
  18. I thought there was more to the shooting than was being announced and I'm not believing the dropped back pack story quite yet.
  19. Before my mother passed I took her out every Sunday for dinner and every Sunday we went to a Truck Stop up on I- 65 at Bethal Road. I asked he one time why she always wanted to eat at the Truck Stop and her reply was the food and the atmosphere. She did have a point. The folks were always friendly and the food was always good and it was never to crowded and there were no signs............
  20. Ok , Thanks
  21. Game Wardens in certain cases have more jurisdiction than local law enforcement. If they have probably cause that you have poached a deer or other wild game and it is in your house they don't need warrant to search your home and property. In many states the Game Wardens are the law in the woods and on the waters and local law enforcement is their back up. As far as the woman getting upset she was probably looking for a free meal and her 5 minutes of fame which she probably go both. I quit going to to Outback years ago and have never been in a Panera Bread and have 1 two blocks from my house. Someone mentioned they wish that all the law abiding 2nd Amendment people would just quit going to the posted locations 1 of 2 things would happen. The companies would go bankrupt or the signs would come down. I don't see it happening but sure would be nice just to watch the big companies squirm a little.........JMHO
  22. What happen to the 15 year old boy with the head injury from it that was in serious condition???? Was this some politicians daughter or what???????? Sure sounds like a cover up to me..........JMHO
  23. Simple solution to this is don't go into the store in the first place and try to spend money in a business that really does not want what is in your best interest in the first place and you won't have any issues.............JMHO
  24. Sounds to me like they are trying to make excuses as to why she brought the gun to school and her saying I'm sorry for shooting you. I have not heard any hard charges being brought yet. If that was a young boy he would be booked and have a list of chrages longer than his arm and still finding more to charge him with. I bet the Governor is already to sign a pardon for her!!.................
