At his age I don't think he will have any teeth or claws left so I think the rest of the animals are safe, at least from the Lion. Now safe from the children is a different story!!!!

Hey 3 bucks was a lot of money back then and to be going to see the Beatles must have been exciting. I liked a few of their songs but was never a real Beatle fan and go Beatlemania crazy. They did a lot to help the British Invasion that followed.

I would say they are getting smarter if they have moved it back in front of Thriller where it belongs.

Should have never not been at the top. The Music of the Eagles was, is and always will be better then Thriller!!

I don't think he could have been a roadie for a more diverst group than those 3 for sure. I'm sure he does have some very interesting stories!!!!!

I had to look it up myself. Jimi spent a lot of time touring Europe was probably the reason he didn't get down south more often than he did. I don't know if anyone has ever heard Jimi do the National Anthem solo but if you can find it someplace on line you need to listen to it. The performance he did of it at Woodstock was and still is the greatest guitar solo of anything I have ever heard. And from what I also read Woodstock was the only concert he ever did in the morning. Woodstock 1969

I sure hope your a 380 reloader cause burning 500 rounds of 380 can get rather expensive these days!!!

I'm almost regretting selling it to you Larry..............LOL I was afraid my Bersa's might get jealous and glad it worked out for everyone. It is a great gun and it remained in the TGO family..........JMHO

It was June 9th 1970 at the Mid-South. The only other time he was in Memphis was when he performed at the Ellis Memorial Auditorium April 18th 1969

You are OLD!!!!! Welcome to the old Folks Music thread!! I am seeing band names I forgot existed back in my younger years and loving every second of it. I don't know why but I was always content with listening to all of the great music but was never much of a concert goer and now I regret that cause I had many offers from friends to ride along and never did. Of course there was Woodstock but then it was many many years before I went to my second concert and it was at Starwood and Second wife and daughter talked me into going and I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd and Marshall Tucker and the crowd chanted" Free Bird" till it was performed. They thought they were going to get out of playing it but didn't work. When they finally did take the stage they did Free Bird for about 10 minutes solid.

According to the history books on him, Jimi Hendrix did 217 performances and only 8 of them was south of the Mason-Dixon Line three in Georgia and five in Florida. Some in Texas. I got to see him in 1969 at Woodstock and heard him do the greatest version of the National Anthem I have ever heard. Was in the middle of a medly of songs and all at once broke into the Anthem. I learned later that he did the Anthem at almost every show where he performed in the United States. You can learn more about him on google.

Well I have 2 Bersa Thunders and Bersa Model 85 with 15 round capacity and all of them have Hornady Critical Defense in them and all the back up mags do to. If I can't stop a bad guy with a Thunder w/ 8 rounds he is either wearing body armor or he is superman.and in the case or Body Armor the last 4 rounds will be at his head if at all possible..................JMHO

There was quite a few performers that went rock with roots in Country and some Country that got their roots from Rock & Roll and some country music stars whos music crossed over and became popular on R&R radio stations. George Jones had a song titled "The Race is On" crossed over from country to Rock and Roll back in the mid to late 60's. I'm sure there were many others but that one stuck with me cause I liked it back then.

KISS is a little more modern and was one of my sons favorite bands along with 38 Special and White Snake............lol

If you got more, list more. Lets see how many we can remember. I forgot all about Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band!!!

I think you have nailed that one Raoul. The fans had more live access to their favorite bands back then. By live access I mean getting to see them live on stage at concerts. I regret never being much of a concert goer back then but I did get to attend to me the greatest concert ever. About 10 or 12 days before my deployment I got to go to Woodstock and that to me was the concert of all concerts. I don't know how many folks was her fan but I got to see Janice Joplin Perform Bobby Migee live on stage along side Hendrix on the guitar so does it get any better than that? Got to see CCR and The WHO . There was so many great stars there you could not see them all.

I was waiting and wondering when someone would finally pop up with ZZ TOP!

I have a ton of MO Town performers I could list but many of them didn't have permanent bands as best I can tell. I kind of thought that most of them had great studio musicians and I think Smokie Robinson provided them with a lot of their music like The Funk Brothers in Mo town and the Wrecking crew in L.A. was evidently responsible for most of the music.

I think it might be fun for us old farts to go back in time a few years and pick your top 5 bands/groups and put them in the order of your favorite starting with favorite 1st. I was going to go with 10 favorites but afraid of puttng that much pressure on old memories including mine going up in flames!!! Feel free to list as many as you can honestly remember enjoying listening to or seeing in concert. We can do another one on favorite singers once this one has maxed out. Folks has gotta have some fun in these serious times. I will start it off and if a band/group is on someone elses picks you can use them also as one of your picks. 1. Steppenwolf 2 Credience Clearwater Revival 3 The Doors 4 Rolling Stones 5 Led Zeppelin

If I was to try and pick 1 favorite band from the 70's I don't think I could just pick one Maybe a top 10 but not just one. There was a lot of bands that came out of the 60's and into the 70's. One thing I will never understand and probably never will but I will never understand how and why CCR never was voted a #1 song and never had a #1 record. I know they had my vote but that was only one of my favorite bands.

Yep, seen that too. It's like ordering Honda Emblems and putting them on a Rolls Royce. A real mechanic can spot a fake box in a heartbeat.............JMHO

I did some digging into Robert Johnson and some say the devil taught him how to play and others say the Devil use to meet with Jonson at the cross roads and tune his guitar for him allowing him to be able to play. The intersection of Hwy 61 and Hwy 49 are what folks say it was but actually according to actual history back when Robert Johnson was alive that cross road intersection now was actually about 1/4 mile away from that one and they did away with the original crossroads with new construction in later years.

I might be wrong but I would say he was on more than alcohol to withstand that many taser zaps and still be able to do what he did including drive himself to a hospital with a bullet in his head..............JMHO Glad the officers didn't die. -
Thats an interesting story. I know my Grandmother mentioned something about it to a friend once but never knew what it was.
