  1. As best I can tell it was an off duty Dallas Police officer involved in a bad shoot and that is why Texas Rangers were called in to take over the investigation.
  2. The only issue I can find with this case so far is the news media and the mans family. I understand he was a black gentleman that was shot and killled and in my humble opinion a man lost his life and it was not a black and white issue. It was a mans life issue. It was a very very poor decision issue that should have never happened. Now with that said. For years we as a people have been trying to get past the issue of race yet it seems that many people just cannot manage to do that. Especially the news medias and in many cases black families. The man that lost his life was black. Would it have been different had he been white and shot by a black officer. I wonder if the news media headlines would have read Black Officer shoots White Man and kills him by accident. I also wonder if the mans family would have been claiming it was a racial shoot because he was white? I have not seen a shooting of a white man by a black police officer yet with those kind of headlines. Are we ever going to get passed the race card and just consider that we are all human beings and all lives matter?....................JMHO
  3. I'm going to wait till the entire story is out before making a conclusion but as someone else has already said it looks fishy. I don't think anything fishy is going on now that Texas Rangers have been brought in the investigate the shooting. I only have 1 issue with what I have read so far. Why can't the news media write a headline that reads Police Officer shoots man in his apartment thinking it was her apartment. Why do they have to make sure a race card is played every time. He was a man that got shot while in his own apartment by a police officer that made a mistake thinking it was her apartment. She should not get any special treatment for her mistake. If the guy would have been white would it have made any difference??? Would a white mans family not be hurting right now also. It is a terrible shame it happened at all and the race card is totally in-material. A man lost his life period................JMHO
  4. I've had them get on a feeder from time to time but they don't far well if I see them. They go the way of the Red Wasp and a fly swatter if they don't get gone before I make the swing with the swatter.
  5. They leak tested my mothers tank a couple times. They have a way of pumping out what ever is in the tank and reading the amount. Then they do a vaccum test by sucking out all in the tank and putting a vaccum gauge on the tank and watching it for 30 minutes. If it holds a full vaccum they refill the tank with what they took out and then top it off on the keep fill order. Of course that is all gone since house burned and brother sold the land to new owners.
  6. I will admit back when I was a kid I use to shoot my BB gun at night but I used a flashlight/spotlight type light to light up my targets. We had a big Mulberry tree in our front yard about 40 feet from the front porch and it was perfect tree for putting wooden checkers in the crevices of the limbs and old Chess pieces out on the limbs of. Did it in the wintertime after the leaves were down. I got to be a pretty good shot after doing it a while. My father was a big help the first year as most kids knew you could put a few drops of oil down in the barrel and the BB's would fly faster and straighter so put some 3-1 oil down the barrel but it didn't work well. Took it back in the house and it got warmed up and the first several shots would be fine and then it would slow down and fall short again. Problem was it was about 25 degrees out and the oil was getting thick when it go cold. Dad to the rescue. He came out to see how I was and I told him of the problem. He went in the house and came back out with a can of Liquid Wrench with one of those straw nozzle and he sprayed a little down the barrel and problem solved.
  7. Sorry about the house and glad they are going to get it all repaired for you. I hope the airgun shooter has learned by their mistake.
  8. I am not sure were you get that birds won't feed on feeders if they are faded. All of my feeders are at least 15 years old and tops of all of them are faded and it has not slowed the birds down yet. Yea I know bright red is how most are made but I have seen feeders made from the old Coke Bottle colored glass and have birds fighting over them. BT's wife has window feeders that stick to the out side of her windows with suction cups and I have sat at her kitchen table and watched 2 feed on one small feeder at the same time on her kitchen window right next to her table. I was going to buy new feeders at TSC this year but I missed the sale and they sold out. This winter I will redo my old ones I guess. I know a couple folks that have taken them apart and sanded the bases and reapinted them red wih that plastic paint and painted the flowers yellow again and let everything dry and them put them back together and the birds came and spent all summer on them. 1 warning!!!! Don't paint the inside of the feeders!!! Could harm the birds.
  9. Yea, I still have about 20-25 birds and I filled all the feeders on 26th and put the back out and laready had to fill all of them once and will need to fill them again by Monday. Most of what I have appear to be younger birds but none the less with their fussing and fighting abilities. I have only see 2 Red Thoat Males but does not mean there are not more. Oh yea, still got the crazy woodpecker and he shares with the Hummingbirds and they don't pick on him. Depending on weather we could have them later this year if it stays warm. I had them last year till the end of October and a few travelers through first couple weeks of November.
  10. Don't forget , you need a bucket of water to throw on the witch so she will melt along with the slippers................
  11. IMPO Peterson is a coward and was only thinking of himself. He should have went and encountered the shooter and if possible shot and killed him while not waiting on back up that he knew was in route.
  12. Didn't the Feds go on a buying frenzy several years back on 357 Mag rounds so they must have or need guns to use them in if they don't already have them.
  13. On the propane part, my mothers big home was operated on propane. Cooking, water heater and a space heater in every room and she had a 500 gallon tank in the back yard. She did business with the people that had placed the tank before they bought the house and call them and had them put them on a Keep Full program. Once a month a truck would come by and top off the tank and the bill was never over $100.00 but she would mail a check for $100.00 and told them to credit the overage to her account. When she passed away my youngest brother and sister in law where living there also and when they called about the gas with winter coming on they were told that the account had a $4745.00 credit so my brother told them to keep it on the program it was on but to begin using the credit until it was consumed. The house burned a year later due to old wiring and the gas company sent them a check for the remaining balance.

  18. This was the ad I saw nad it says $11 and it does not request experienced people. I'm guess they are having the same issue keeping employees as everyone else is. Can't pass drug tests of getting fired for a spontaneous test without notice. Might be worth your time to look into it. Beretta USA CORP 28 reviews Gallatin, TN Responsive employer $11 an hour Is currently looking for Firearms Assemblers to work out of our manufacturing facility in Gallatin, TN. 19. Mike, I was just looking at the Indeed job network to see what might be out there and they have a Gallatin Section and on page 4 of the job search they had an ad that Beretta in Gallatin was looking to hire some people. I didn't go into it to far but might be something to look into................
  20. Not trying to highjack your thread Mikie.. My Grandson called me 1 day about a year ago and said he was sending me a picture of a car he was getting ready to buy. I asked him if he signed any papers yet and he said no and I said let me send you a picture of that same car and I sent him this and he did not buy the car bought a pickup truck instead. This is a Smart Car involved in an accident.
  21. I noticed several years ago without ever walking into one of Dicks stores that there had to be something folks didn't like about Dicks. They has a store almost directly across the highway from Academy Sports at Rivergate. You look at the parking lots and Dicks may have 2 cars or Pick up trucks in their parking lot and Academy has 20 or more in theirs. That told me all I needed to know so I have never been in a Dicks Sporting Goods store and have zero plans of it in the future.............JMHO
  22. Is this the rifle your referring to?

  24. I was thinking about Steelharps jobs posts and the one about the guy in the work clothes that bought the SS Monte Carlo and it reminded me of something about my Grandmother the post reminded me of. My Grandmother was a business lady and very smart and worked in Chicago since she moved there with my mother in 1932. I grew up around her as I was born in 1948 and all the time while growing up I would remember my Grandmother saying, "One day I will own a Cadillac." At the time she was driving a 1954 Oldsmobile 98. Every year she would go look at the Cadillacs in the show rooms and say to me "One day I will own a Cadillac." Well about 2 years before we moved South. My Grand Mother had retired from the job she had held since 1938. From then on my Grandmother and step grandfather lived a modest lifestyle even though they were very weathy. Many times we would go visit and my Grandmother would be dressed almost like a bag lady living on the street but she said it was comfortable. All the years she worked she had to dress very fit and proper right down to her makeup. Well, she had made up her mind it was time to buy a new car and she was going to get her Cadillac and she ask me to take her since her and my Step grandfather was fussing since he didn't think she needed a new car. She said it was her money and if she wanted a Cadillac she would buy a Cadillac. They argued alot. I thought she would dress up some but nope. She was comfortable right down to her tennis shoes with the holes cut in them for her corns to stick out of. She had a huge black bag purse and a dress that looked like a bag drapped over her and her hair up in a bun. (I think you can get the picture). Well we arrive at Loftus Cadillac in Oak Lawn Illinois and on the show room floor was the car she wanted. A beautiful Teal Blue Sedan D'ville. She approached a salesman and began to ask him about the car and he looked at her and walked away. 1st mistake!!! She followed him and tried to ask him again and again he walked away. Mistake #2. She gave him one more try and finally he told her to go away. Strike 3 and your out, literally. She walked up to the receptioness desk and ask if the owner was in and she said he was but he was busy and she said fine we will wait and we walked over and sat down and waited. About 5 minutes later the owner came out of his office and spoke with the receptiontist and then came and ask us if he could help and my Grandmother said I hope so and we went into his office. First she said I have come here to buy a car but your salesman does not want to sell me one. She told him what the salesman did and the owner said I will be more than glad to help you personally and he asked her how she planned on paying for the car and which car she wanted. She told him which car and said Cashiers Check and she just needed a total cost and you can call my bank to get it approved. They did all the paper work and the man called her bank to confirm she had the funds on hand. After calling the bank he got even more polite to her. He handed the papers over to my grandmother to sign and she said I will sign them after you do one more thing for me and she took him to the door way of his office, pointed out the salesman and ask that he be spoken to about how he treated her. The owner ask her to have a seat and he walked out and spoke with the salesnan and the salesman had to come in and apologize to her for his actions. I kind of felt a little sorry for him but it was also a learning experience for him at the same time.
  25. Maybe most do but back when I was working back before going disabled I had a job I dearly loved. I was an ASE Certified Master Automotive Mechanic and I loved working on cars with a passion. Every day was a new challenge which always required something different to do each day. Not the same old thing day in day out. I worked on cars for 35 years and loved it..........JMHO
