  1. Yep!! Those are migrating birds probably. Heading for the gulf coast to follow it back to Mexico and Equador were they Winter!!!
  2. I would be willing to bet on the good guys winning if the bad guys want to pick a fight.............JMHO
  3. I had not seen any all day and just a few minutes ago I saw 3 on the feeders so I figure they are travelers. They are not fighting at all. just eating.
  4. Well went from having about 30+ birds to zero birds over night. I was watching them all day yesterday and I was knd of expecting to wake up to no birds. All of the fighting over feeders had stopped and there was as many as 4 birds on all of the feeders all day yesterday all the way up till almost complete dark. I got up this morning and looked and there is not one bird here. They all left sometime between dark last night and first safe light this morning. I will leave the feeders up till this weekend and then take down all but 2 and fill those with fresh food for any birds running late from up north and needing food on the trip. When the leaves have changed and begin to fall I will begin taking care of my winter birds and putting up the seed feeders and putting food down for my ground feeders. I have Cardinals, Blue Jays, Doves and a few Red Wing Black birds that normally show up for the ground food every year. I have often wondered about why I have about 5 Red Wings but have had them the last couple years. I would think where I live would be out of their element but have had them about 3 years now. They show up about Mid November and stay through early March.
  5. I like the concept but I'm guessing they would be illegal in the good Ole USA..........JMHO
  6. I would imagine they were out of that U-haul in a matter of hours onto a different truck with no identifying marking on it. There is no doubt Chicago is their destination 99% but stopping every truck would be impossibe. As far as an inside job that goes without saying. Also, that is a lot of guns to be shipped by UPS instead of private carrier. I hope they find them but we all know it will not happen. I would be interested in knowing where they were scheduled to go before the heist. Also like to know how many long guns verses how many had guns. The report was not very informative.............JMHO
  7. J.C. Higgins bolt action single shot 4.10 when I was 10 years old unless your talking BB guns. If that be so I had a lever action Red Rider BB gun at age 8.
  8. Loading is the biggest challenge you will run into. You already have an advantage over what I use to use. I used the Original Charlie Hawkins and rain was my only issue that the inlines have practically eliminated but stil not completely.
  9. If I had a choice mine would be a Muzzle Loader also. Just more of a challenge and much more rewarding to take a nice buck with a smoke stick over a shotgun unless you just have to have freezer meat.
  10. I keep hearing that a 380 Caliber gun is not a good self defense weapon. Yea, it's not a 9mm or 45 caliber but I have shot some targets that were tacked onto 2x6 hardwood saw mill lumber boards at 25 feet and it went threw the saw mill lumber well enough and I was shooting 94 Gr FMJ. I don't know if anyone here has ever been shot by a 380 Caliber but I don't think I would want to be. I know we were discussing a 380 in this post and unless a person is very knowledgeable about guns and is not expecting to have one pointed at them or shot by one could they tell it was not a 9mm at first glance. If I ever needed to shoot someone in self defense I will shoot a minimum of 3 rounds and see if I need to follow up with more at that point. My self defense ammo is all Hornady Critical defense ammo in all of my magazines. I have four 380's and I have all the faith in the world in them saving my life in a life or death situation if I put the first 3 rounds where they need to be.............JMHO
  11. Back years ago 1st wife and I had a stack up Whirlpool and it worked well, but the dryer was a 110 volt instead of 220 and took for ever to dry clothes so we got rid of it. Like GlockSpock said, if they are appliance repair people they should know how to fix it with out any inut from you beyond the symptoms it is having...........JMHO
  12. Defend your self and Call 911 and then call your lawyer. The first 911 call is the important one in a case like this.
  13. I truely hope you have a good crowd and yep, a diversed group at all levels so it will make it more fun and also help newbies learn what they need to know...
  14. If I am not mistaken this is the case where the DA had to go judge shopping to find a judge that would sign an arrest warrant and I think they said it took 4 judges before he could find one that would sign it. That would be a pretty good indication getting a conviction of the officer would seem like slim to none.....JMHO
  15. Well, I know the migration can happen at most any time but I am still gaining birds. I am hard of hearing but I have so many now I can hear their chirping and see them everywhere. I had to fill the feeders again last night as they are emptying them every 2 days now. They are not fighting as much and now I can have 3 or 4 on all the feeders at the same time which is a sign of a migration soon but when they leave here they will leave with full bellies. I sure have enjoyed thej this year. Just sitting watching them is so relaxing and they will come right up and get within a couple feet of my face and look me all over and are not afraid at all.
  16. This is what I did with Kaseys ashes. It's on top of my TV comsole in the living room. My Vets people made the paws prints for me and the card is also from my vets office and a few friends.
  17. Should have been there long before now!................JMO
  18. Yep, a hole put there by a mighty big fish.......JMHO
  19. I know to this day I have friends that use to love to swim in the ocean but after seeing that movie have never went swimming in salt water again.
  20. It is very costly and most dental insurance companies won't cover it....!!!
  21. All my life I had relatively good teeth. Took good care of them when at all possible. Then something happened that changed all of that and thought I would see if anyone here has experienced what I did. In 1996 I suffered a (Minor) stroke. I had totally recovered from it in about a year I thought but I was wrong according to my dentist. In 1997 I had three of my teeth come loose during a meal. I was careful as I finished the meal and next day was at the dentist office. He did xrays and after looking at the xrays came back with alarming news. He said the roots holding those 3 teeth had just deteriorated and nothing was holding them except my gums. He asked me if I was in pain and I said not at all. He proceeded to extract all 3 teeth with no sedative at all and they didn't even bleed. He went back and looked at the xrays and said that a couple other teeth were in the beginning stages of losing their roots also. He said he would do some research on this as he had never seen this before. About a week later I had 2 more teeth come lose and within 2 days I had just wiggled them a little and pull both of them with my fingers and again no blood. My dentist contacted me about 10 days later and I told him about pulling 2 more and he asked me a question. He asked me if I had anything happen to me making me physically sick over the last couple years. I told him of the stroke and he said ok and said he would get back with me. He did an hour later with the bad news. He said that the stroke had messed up my body chemistry and the area of the brain that supports the teeth was no longer functioning and I would probably lose all my teeth over time and suggested I get them all pulled and get plates made. I told him I would get back with him. Over the next 1.5 years I had removed every tooth in my mouth with my fingers and not one bled. I waited about a year for my gums to get to a point I thought would work and went and had plates made. I think I got my first set of plates in about 2001. Took me about 6 months to learn how to eat with them but they never fit right so went back and had them adjusted 4 different times and each time they would work for about a month and then needed to be adjusted again. I finally just gave up on getting plates that would work. Even went to other places to see if they could make something that worked and had zero luck. I tried every product on the market that is suppose to hold your dentures in place and nothing worked. I began to look back to the days when my father was still alive. He also wore plates and his would fit and remain in place with one of the products over the counter. Now this was something we use to tease him about. When he got ready to eat a meal of any kind he would remove his plates to eat. He said they would always come loose when he ate so he ate without them. We all accused him of having a ridge in his mouth like a snapping turtle instead of gums. About the only things he could not eat is things like peanuts or chew gum. Now as for me. I am beginning to think I also have a ridge like a snapping turtle. I don't wear plates and haven't for quite a few years and I am like my father. I can eat just about anything I like including steak. Recently I considered looking into these new permanent implates they offer and if I was 10 of 15 years younger I would but I am not a vain person that needs teeth to look good when I smile and I think I would be throwing money away at my age..
  22. Good info folks. Get it checked out for sure. Better to be safe than sorry.!!!
  23. That was why I said the loss of 1 life in a mass shooting was 1 too many regardless of any and all preferences of the shooter. Everyone is welcome to be a member of TGO and that has been made clear on several occassions so one more won't hurt................
  24. One loss of life in this manner is 1 to many..................JMHO
  25. So because she could not make up her/his mind whether he/she wanted to be a guy or a girl she thought taking a gun to a palce she worked and just shoot a bunch of people and then shoot yourself was going to help decide if she was a he or he was a she. I guess I could see that driving a person crazy.
