Man Threatens Louisiana Trooper During Traffic Stop
bersaguy replied to volshayes's topic in General Chat
I would not have a Patrolmans job this day in time regarless of the pay scale which I know is no where near what it should be. I don't have the Temperament to tolerate what the LEO's have to put up with these days. Whn that officer pulled me over last month for expired tags he had ran my tags and knew I had a HCP but walked right up to my door and ask me for license and proof of insurance and ask me why I was not wearing a seat belt and I ask for permission to open the door and showed him I had my lap belt on and handed him the letter from my doctor and he didn't even take it out of the envelope but just handed it back to me. He then told me why he stopped me and said he would be right back. He wrote me a ticket for expired tags and while I was signing the ticket he was petting Darby cause she had her head out the window. He ask her name and I told him. He then preceeded to tell me that if I brought proof of new tags to court the judge would dismiss it or I cold just take the proof of new tags to city hall to court clerks office and they would dismiss the case so that is what I did. I don't know why people get mad and upset because an LEO is doing his/her job that they are being paid by the tax payers to do...........JMHO -
I kind of like it when GT posts a title like that. It many times reminds me of something that took place for everyone or something that happened in my life....

Thats kinda what I was trying to do was find those that were truly homeless and willing to work verse the pan handlers. The ones that did work for me all went to a homeless incampments except 1 and he went to the Homeless Shelter because the Temps were going way down that night and all the people from the camp had already been picked up by a church.

I never doubted it happened. I was watching it on TV when he made that step from the landing craft to the moon surface.............

I think it is great that people step up and help the less fortunate and I have done it from time to time back when I was working and making good money. I did learn pretty quick the difference between the true homeless and the not so true ones. I use to watch folks give to men standing on street corners holding signs saying "Will work for food" so I thought I would put some to the test I tried 11 different guys on 11 different days that I had odd jobs I needed done at the shop. Out of the 11 Three took me up on the work. I took them to my auto repair shop and just kind of had them clean up a little, maybe wash the office windows. Nothing really hard. With that person there would be 4 of us and I would spring for lunch that day. That evening I would take them back to where ever they were staying and stop on the way and get them supper and give them $30.00. I ask one of them one day about the guys holding sign like his but when offered work they would refuse. He said they are not like us. They are true bums and give the ones of us that will work a bad name so we try and stay out of their areas. I had a little fun with one of the non workers. He was holding a sign that Read Vietnam Vet will work for food! I pulled to the curb and motioned for him to come to the windown and he did. I politely told him he might want to change his sign to Gulf War Vet and he ask me why and I told him because I don't think you were born yet when the Vietnam War was going on. A couple days later he had a new sign and was 3 blocks from the corner he was using.

Video: Defendant Lunges for Oregon Officer's Gun in Court
bersaguy replied to volshayes's topic in General Chat
The judges in these court rooms must think they are there to hear a case on the theft of a piece of candy from Walmart!!!! Wait till a Judge is the one shot during one of these deal and you can bet from then on the bad guy will be handcuffed, chained, shackled and electrified with ankle bracelet before he is brought in the court room. Judges don't mind playing with fire out there on west coast huh? -
Well maybe it's just me but I was never impressed by that picture. But then I was always kind of a realist even back when I was much younger and I never got excited about something I knew I could never have so why care about it.............JMHO

The way I look at it now is a vote for a gun grabber or a vote for a drug pusher. A no vote and a 3rd party vote is a vote for the gun grabber. If Blackburn gets elected we can look at her again in 6 years and hope to see improvement. I would hate to see what the alternative might be With Chuck Schumers new lap dog. They are already looking at putting Shumer as top Democrat if they carry Tennessee...........JMHO

I have not done much buying or selling recently but I renewed my Benefactor status yesterday just because I want to help support a great site and I have a good many friends here and I would pay the 20 bucks even if I never used the benefits. Just knowing they are there if I choose to use them is fine with me.

Yep, they quit putting the special suspensions on them, the over size brakes on them and anything else not stock on common cars. They said that was to prevent the high speed pursuits that police officers got involved in. They don't want the officers to get involved in them any longer and tell the officers to use their radios to relate where the bad guy is and hope their are cars closer to the and guy so they can do the stop. I don't think it's working because the police are still doing high speed pursuits hoping they can chase them into some spike strips with officers ahead of them. Some times it works and sometimes it don't.

I don't remember at what age I made this decision but sometime in my past I decided I would no longer want to hunt nor kill anything that would hunt and possibly kill me while I was hunting it and hogs fall in that catagory.......JMHO

Back in the day when a police department placed an order for new cars the cars the police got were not the same cars you bought at a dealership. They were special built strictly for police use and they held up a lot better than the Police cars of today because they don't special build the police cars any longer so what the police get it the same thing you get at a dealership. That is why they don't hold up. I got that information from a mechanic that works in the Metro Police department garage. He said there is nothing special about them any longer.

I might look at getting one someday. Right now I have a Phoenix 22 pocket pistol and it eats any 22 ammo I feed it lke candy. Have never had an issue with it other than the fact it's kind of heavy but dependable as hell.

Say what you want about the new import car motors but I have one for ya'll and it's an American. My brother up until he retired owned a Body shop that fixed wrecks and did general body work. He had a 1962 dodge pickup truck with a slant 6 235 CID motor in it. When he bought it the truck had 21,000 miles on it and he bought it to run for parts and run errands. They did the regular maintainence on it when it was time. He retired and sold his business in 2003 and that old dodge truck had 467,000 miles on it and it was the original motor. in the later years he said every time they started it up it sounded like a hay baler and you could hear every lifter in it but it was still starting and running the day the new owners took over the business. Say what you want but pound for pound the slant 6 225 and 235 motors were 2 of the best engines ever built by and American auto maker.

I have kicked around buying a Bersa 22 a dozen times and because I hear how picky about type of ammo they like it has kept me from buying one.
-
I hope you have great luck with your Dodge. I owned several Dodge trucks back in the day and liked them well enough. Had 3 Dodge 4x4's and never stuck one in the mud and believe me I tried hard. Would probably still own one of the Ramchangers but could not afford the gas for one now a days. Now as for that Lifetime unlimited Powertrain Warranty. Read the fine print and see if they have a milage limit they consider lifetime. A buddy of mine got caught with that one on a new Ford he bought and didn't read the fine print on what is considered a lifetime. His expires at 125,000 miles and that was what pushed him over the edge it buying the truck. It was not made clear to him at the time. Needless to say he was not a happy camper when he got back to the dealership and couldn't find his sales man anywhere and finally someone told him he was off for the weekend. Never heard what came of it but my buddy is not in jail anyway.
-
Oh how true that is and yea I own a couple and happen to think they are very good guns and a heck of a lot better than a sharp stick IMHO
-
I had a buddy's dad buy him a brand new 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury with 426/ 4 speed and another buddys dad bought him a Coronet with same package Then when the GTX's and Road Runners came out they went to the 440 Six Pack motors which we also quick, just not quick enough............LOL

Maybe yours but they would not have spanked mine!!!!!............

I have love that New Chrysler 300 ever since they came out with it and if I had to money available I would buy one of them today. That is really the only new American luxury car left and I would buy it and Chauffure Darby around in style!!!
-
I didn't do it to correct you at all sir. Being an old mechanic as a profession for 35+ years I just know about the old American cars to an extent. Plus my 1st wife drove a Dodge Dart Swinger with the 318 in it for about 7 years and I finally got her out of it by buying her a brand new Chrysler LeBaron which is what she was driving a month later when she ran off with her boyfriend................
-
For those younger folks that are buying these newer Chrysler high performance cars and getting the Hemi's. They are not the Hemi's I grew up with. The ones on the market are not true Hemi's. With the possible exception of FORD, HEMI is the most celebrated set of four letters in all automobiledom. ... But, upon close inspection of the new engine's innards, I was disappointed to find that the vaunted hemispherical combustion chambers are NOT part of the deal.
-
You may buy a Dodge Dart with the 235 Slant 6 but the Swinger was a V8 car with either a 273, 318, 340 or 360 factory and the Valiant had two different body styles depending on year model but in the later years they were 6 cylinder only before the DC them.
-
Pontiac and Oldsmobile have been gone like the dinosaurs for several years now and I am surprised that Chrysler has made it this long. I think it is the high Performance cars that is keeping Dodge a float but for how much longer is anyones guess.
