  1. I might look at getting one someday. Right now I have a Phoenix 22 pocket pistol and it eats any 22 ammo I feed it lke candy. Have never had an issue with it other than the fact it's kind of heavy but dependable as hell.
  2. Say what you want about the new import car motors but I have one for ya'll and it's an American. My brother up until he retired owned a Body shop that fixed wrecks and did general body work. He had a 1962 dodge pickup truck with a slant 6 235 CID motor in it. When he bought it the truck had 21,000 miles on it and he bought it to run for parts and run errands. They did the regular maintainence on it when it was time. He retired and sold his business in 2003 and that old dodge truck had 467,000 miles on it and it was the original motor. in the later years he said every time they started it up it sounded like a hay baler and you could hear every lifter in it but it was still starting and running the day the new owners took over the business. Say what you want but pound for pound the slant 6 225 and 235 motors were 2 of the best engines ever built by and American auto maker.
  3. I have kicked around buying a Bersa 22 a dozen times and because I hear how picky about type of ammo they like it has kept me from buying one.
  4. I hope you have great luck with your Dodge. I owned several Dodge trucks back in the day and liked them well enough. Had 3 Dodge 4x4's and never stuck one in the mud and believe me I tried hard. Would probably still own one of the Ramchangers but could not afford the gas for one now a days. Now as for that Lifetime unlimited Powertrain Warranty. Read the fine print and see if they have a milage limit they consider lifetime. A buddy of mine got caught with that one on a new Ford he bought and didn't read the fine print on what is considered a lifetime. His expires at 125,000 miles and that was what pushed him over the edge it buying the truck. It was not made clear to him at the time. Needless to say he was not a happy camper when he got back to the dealership and couldn't find his sales man anywhere and finally someone told him he was off for the weekend. Never heard what came of it but my buddy is not in jail anyway.
  5. Oh how true that is and yea I own a couple and happen to think they are very good guns and a heck of a lot better than a sharp stick IMHO
  6. I had a buddy's dad buy him a brand new 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury with 426/ 4 speed and another buddys dad bought him a Coronet with same package Then when the GTX's and Road Runners came out they went to the 440 Six Pack motors which we also quick, just not quick enough............LOL
  7. Maybe yours but they would not have spanked mine!!!!!............
  8. I have love that New Chrysler 300 ever since they came out with it and if I had to money available I would buy one of them today. That is really the only new American luxury car left and I would buy it and Chauffure Darby around in style!!!
  9. I didn't do it to correct you at all sir. Being an old mechanic as a profession for 35+ years I just know about the old American cars to an extent. Plus my 1st wife drove a Dodge Dart Swinger with the 318 in it for about 7 years and I finally got her out of it by buying her a brand new Chrysler LeBaron which is what she was driving a month later when she ran off with her boyfriend................
  10. For those younger folks that are buying these newer Chrysler high performance cars and getting the Hemi's. They are not the Hemi's I grew up with. The ones on the market are not true Hemi's. With the possible exception of FORD, HEMI is the most celebrated set of four letters in all automobiledom. ... But, upon close inspection of the new engine's innards, I was disappointed to find that the vaunted hemispherical combustion chambers are NOT part of the deal.
  11. You may buy a Dodge Dart with the 235 Slant 6 but the Swinger was a V8 car with either a 273, 318, 340 or 360 factory and the Valiant had two different body styles depending on year model but in the later years they were 6 cylinder only before the DC them.
  12. Pontiac and Oldsmobile have been gone like the dinosaurs for several years now and I am surprised that Chrysler has made it this long. I think it is the high Performance cars that is keeping Dodge a float but for how much longer is anyones guess.
  13. Your brought up a very sore subject in my life. I really use to love the lead sleds that ran up and down the highways of America. Those big old Chrysler Crown Imperials, Lincoln Town Cars, Cadillac El Dorado's, Oldsmobile Toronado, Buick Riveria's. Yep!!!! those were the good ole days for sure. Reminds me of a day at the shop I owned many ears ago that my son owns now. I was closed on Saturdays and heard this racket out side so opened the overhead door to see on of Tow Pros wreckers siting on the parking lot. On the back of the roll back was a 1958 Chrysler Crown Imperial all dressed up in all that beautiful Chrome and the wide white wall tires and the memories came flowing back. It was Scotty, the owner of Tow Pro and the owner of this beautiful car and he had a problem. Scotty had been to 5 garages with it and all of them told him not to even put it on the ground because they knew nothing about anything that old. I could tell by the look on the older gentlemans face he was concerned about his car. Scott had it loaded backwards so I said back it up to the door an put it in the second bay nose first. Scotty told the man he owed his $45.00 and the man handed him a $100.00 and said "Thank you son!' I asked the gentleman what was wrong and he said he was in town from New Jersey for a Chrome show of Old cars and it just quit running after a back fire. I said ok. He looked at me and said do you thnk you can help me and I said it would not be on the ground if I didn't. I lifted the hood and there is was. a 392 Cubic inch Chrysler Hemi with twin AFB carbs. Just as I was expecting. I pulled #1 Plug and told him to bump it till I told him to stop. On third bump the piston in #1 hole came up om top dead center compression. I took distributer cap off and rotor button was pointing to #1. I then got a distirbutor wrench and pulled the distributor and took it over to a workbench. The gentleman walked with me. Once at the bench I turned it upside down and shook it and in just a couple shakes the piece of copper fell out on the bench. It had a set of dual points in it and the copper strap holding the coil wire to the points had broke. That was a standard issue with them back in the day. I called the parts house and they sent me 2 new dets of points and two new condensers. I set the gap on te points before I put the distributor back in. Once every thing was back in place I told him to start it. It turned over about 3 times and fired right up. I watched as the mans grin came over his face from ear to ear. He revved it a couple times and turned it off. I think he was kind of expecting me to bend him over for the fix. I charged him $27.00 for the parts and $45.00 Labor which was 1 hour. He also handed me two $100.00 bills, shook my hand and said gentlemen like you and that tow truck driver are both a very rare pair of individuals and for that thank you both and I sent him on his way.
  14. Yea, I think he is trying to get a big payday due to the fact that they are somewhat rare and a collector might be nieave enough to buy a piece of junk at a high end price........JMHO
  15. That is great to hear. Sounds like your off to a grea start and I hope it continues to grow!...............
  16. I have been to Florida 2 times in my life to visit and vacation on a beach because it was a family vote. It was a nice place to visit but no way in Hell I would ever live there.............JMHO
  17. Well I got to set eyes on the 86 last night. Real piece of what was once a beautiful gun. One of the wood grips was cracked, most all the bluing was gone from holster rash or pocket carry and the hammer had some side to side motion. My guess is the gun was shot a lot. I didn't bother taking it apart for fear I might not be able to get it back together. He said he would come down to $350.00 but not a dime lower and I went and got my 85 out of the safe and showed it to him and I told him would not take $500.00 for mine but looking at them side by side he knew he might be able to get a couple hundred from someone that maybe would want a project restoration gun but knew I was not a prospect so he thanked me for looking and they left. I would have taken pictures but batteries are dead in my camera so will buy more today.
  18. Thanks for the information. Evidently someone has changed out the grips cause it had wood grips now according to the seller. It has 1 factory Magazine and is 13+1. No box and said it has been shot some but not how much and he is asking $45.00 over new price I was thinkin about offering $350.00 but that $5.00 over what used price is. Depending on over all appearence and what it looks like when I take it down. I may politely hurt the guys feelings. I already have a great model 85 and was just kind of wanting a good 86.
  19. Well I can agree with this about 95% but in some cases I think I know why some folks don't have insurance. I know many peole remember when that Tornado hit Nashville hard and done some major damage and hit east Nashville especically hard. I have some friends that lived in East Nashville and got hit hard. They had homeowners insurance when it hit in 1998. They are still waiting on Insurance Companies to settle after 20 years. There are also people that suffered damage that could not afford insurance and FEMA stepped up and fixed their homes within a month. I do realize what your saying and I agree but I think people have realized that having Insurance does not mean you will get help with your claim and get your home fixed in a timely fashion. They have all filed lawsuits and still waiting for settlements. Their homes go made livable but only because neighbors stepped up and helped them have a home again.
  20. I had a friend call me about an hour ago and he has a friend that has a Model 86 Bersa he is considering selling. It's a 13+1 gun black color with wood grips. His asking price is $450.00. I am not to familiar with the Model 86. I know it was discontinued in 1994 when they introduced the Thunder. Can any one give me more input on these guns. I have a Thunder and a model 85 and I gave $300.00 for the 85. I'm thinking $450.00 is to much. I am willing to make an offer on the gun but don't want to insult the seller either. Would $350.00 be a fair offer for the gun. I will get to see the gun tomorrow when they come by here to let me see it. Any information on any one that has an 86 would be appreciated.
  21. Since I am not sure which movie you are referring to I will guess it is American Sniper. First off it it Hollywood so that is what they do. I'm sure he talked about things in his book that Hollywood was not allowed to use in the movie so they impervise. The Military even had a few things removed from the book before it was finally allowed to be published. It was as good as they were allowed to make it all things considered. The only people that know for sure where the men/women that served with him in country and they ain't talking so I just took the book verses the movie at face value. He saved a lot of lives doing what he did and for that I have the utmost respect for him and I will leave it at that.
  22. When I got ready to move from BOA I looked at 5th/3rd and spoke with them but they just didn't have that hometown bank feeling so went with Wilson Bank & Trust and love them folks. Oly been with them 1.5 months and about everyone in the branch knows my name and their is about 12 employees there and i have only been insde the branch about 5 times and the rest has been drive up teller.
  23. I have not seen it but now I won't bother............
  24. I would agree it was a great motion picture and it took me quite a while to be able to watch it becuase of what friends had told me about it. I bet very few people know that La Drang Valley was the first real encounter that took place between American and Vietnamese forces. it gave our upper military personel the intelligence they needed to know just what the Vietnamese Military was willing to sacrifice in a war. In that battle 124 Americans were wounded, 234 Americans died and there was over 2000 Vietnamese killed in that battle.
  25. I agree it probably could have been better but when you begin to make a movie and they tie 1 hand behind your back and threaten to do 2 it does not leave a lot of wiggle room to work with. Randall Wallace ran into the same issues on his Movie "When we were soldiers" and so did so many other directors when it came to making movies about wars starting with Vietnam. Coppola ran into many issue with Apocalypse Now
