‘Heroic’ K-9 moves judges to tears on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’
bersaguy replied to volshayes's topic in General Chat
Thank you very much for the great story and video!!!!! -
I live in Gallatin just about 25 miles northeast of Nashville and when I moved here 20 years ago there were still a lot of big farms operating here. Now all those big farms are housing subdivisions, strip Malls and Apartment complexes and Nsshville has about reached here. I will be moving in mid June and going out about 50 miles farther out away from Gallatin. Going east to Gordonsville and moving into Father in Law house behind my daughter and son in laws house. He has about 5.5 acres and has a small range set up behind my future house so I can do more shooting. There is a great berm behind the house where he built the pistol range. He has been shooting quite a bit and no complaints at all from neighbors. I was dreading the move in the beginning but looking forward to it now. Ready to get out of this rat race that has developed since I moved here.

Trading maps for the GPS, it’s gonna bite us
bersaguy replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
One of my grandsons is a prime example of living a life depending on technology for about everything in his life. I don't think he could drive if it was not for his GPS unit mounted in his dashboard. Thing is he needs to learn that those things are not an exact science yet!! He was going to visit a friend that lived out in the country and he had the friends address programmed into his GPS. Well, it was kind of late that evening and a fog had moved in where he was going so he was driving more or less from GPS to stay on the road. As he began to approach the road his friend lived on the GPS said to turn left onto the small gravel road so he turned left and ddrove directly into a ditch. The road was another 15 feet farther up the road that he was supppose to turn on. He had to call for a tow to get him out of the ditch. that turned out to be an expensive learning experience about technology!! -
Students Walk out of Colorado School Shooting Vigil

I agree with everything you have said here. So many laws tie the hands of the LEO's to really be able to do their jobs that they are actually limited to only a few options to help in many situations. I have never been an LEO but have friends that are and so many times they get frustrated by lack of laws that actually work in RO and OOP cases. They say in most cases the only option is to arrest the person that violated the orders issued by the courts. I think in many cases when that happens it just complicates the whole thing more and in many cases causes even worse situations down the road.........JMHO -

I have never had an issue with a Mental Health Professional myself but have a few friends that have and they all seem to have the same opinion of them and they are all negative. Many of them seldom return to them more than once because they said they might spend 15 minutes talking to them before the prescription pad comes out and they are ready to move on to the next patient. They said that being able to talk with friends that have been there about their issues helps more than any pills. I think those students showed a lot of what they felt last night and they got to express their feelings when they had an open mic discussion and some of the students made it clear that the issue was not about Guns but about them and what they are feeling right now. One of the people from one of the organizations that was represented took the mic and apologized and that the students were correct about their opinions. I totally agree with you about the issue of if you see something say something and get help for it and if the police are there they should make a decision to remove the problem while it is still in the beginning stages before it balloons into something much worse. Let the courts settle it. That is what they are for. You are correct about whether the problem will get fixed or not because way to many times the courts don't do the right thing and the next time the court sees the people it is for something a lot worse. That is one of the reasons I have never been in favor of Restraining Orders. In far to many cases they turn out bad for the one that filed it. If the problem is bad enough to need one of them it is beyond a piece of paper.............JMHO -

I have the utmost respect for your reply but if the Vets would stand together as the students did and they talked to each other more and were able to vent their feelings and thoughts to fellow Vets I believe there would be less taking their own lives. Who do the vets have to turn to if not other vets. Counselors and Doctors and neither one of them have a real stake in what is going on in a vets head that other vets do have so vets talking to Vets is what is needed most and that is the types of programs the Government needs to build for the Vets. Not just shoving pills at them and having some person that has never been on the battle field sit them down and say I know how you feel when most of them can't or don't really know how they are feeling. The ones that need to be talking to the others are the ones that are also are picking themselves up and dusting themselves off ..........JMHO -

I'm proud of these kids that walked out of the Political forum that the politicians were putting on. The politicians and their groups and the Press never pass up an opportunity to use something like they to apply to their agenda and these kids didn't allow them their ability to do it. The News medias and politician groups don't give young people enough credit where credit is due. Kids are much more resilient than the New medias and groups line Brady Campaign give them credit for. Well the kids showed oth of them last night that they don't need either to heal their wounds, pick themselves up and continue to move forward. I don't think these kids need a bunch of counselors trying to get inside their heads either. If everyone will just allow them to be themselves and talk with each other they will get through this with each one helping each other. I'm quite sure they are going to heal much faster talking amongst themselves and being around their friends. I know I would much rather talk to a close friend I grew up with then some book worm counselor that does not even know their name.........JMHO -
I spent a little time about a week or so ago talking with a couple young people just fresh out of college and leaning a little left and we got on the subject of guns and I was kind of shocked at their replies to a few of my questions. They lean left in public when they are in a crowd of people but behind the scenes they are not anti-gun at all and they all own one or more and were raised up in a home where firearms were a part of their lives. So that now has me wondering just how many of these Socialist protesters are really ready to support what is on their posters when it's crunch time. Recently it has been said that even Nancy Pelosi is not really anti 2nd Amendment and yes she owns a gun or two. In talking with these young people they said it is only certain professors that talk politics in their classes but most of them stay focused on the course they are paid to teach. So now who do you believe is the question?

Steve Dickerson (R-Nashville) to Introduce Red Flag Bill
bersaguy replied to Garufa's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
yep, That appears to be the way they died. That had to be a very savage attack by a derranged person. It is a shame that the officer that shot him only hit him in the leg and not the head. They said the officer shot him after he produced a weapon. Must have been a knife since they said a sharp object possibly a knife was also used in the killings. He will probably be declared mentally disturbed and get locked in a mental ward some where. Until he is dead that means someday this guy could be back on the streets again.........JMHO -

I have seen several interviews with authorities and they ahve yet to announce the weapon he used to kill all the people. They did say that he pulled a couple weapons and that was when the Swat Officer shot him. That would lead me to believe he pulled guns but it could have been knives or an axe or any number of weapons. They did announce in the beginning when they were searching for him that he was armed and dangerous but they didn't say armed with what. I mean it does not take a lot of imagination to know it was a gun of a couple guns but they have not announced it last I heard.............. -

If the DA would have done his job this person would not have been on the streets in the first place. He would have been in prison under a repeat offender sentencing. To allow a person like this back out of jail this many times is directly a problem for the DA. He should have been serving about 25+ years...........JMHO -
I think it might be a good thing if everyone that is an NRA member also become a member of the GOA also..........JMHO

Did anyone else get and email from the NRA begging for money because the Governor of New York is threatening banks across the country to stop doing business with the NRA or they would feel the rath from his power to cause them major problems? If so how many people here believe Cuomo has that kind of power? That would make him more powerful than the President would it not??? Look forward to hearing opinions from members here!!!

As far as I'm concerned he is no better than any other drug dealer/pusher and should be treated as such with no special treatment. Criminal charges should be applied to him as well. -

He may not be representing the 22nd disrict much longer since he was connected to CPS. State Sen. Steve Dickerson is an anesthesiologist and Medical Director for Comprehensive Pain Specialists (CPS), which is under fire for its abrupt closing of dozens of pain clinics across eight states last month. This week, news broke that CPS is under investigation by federal authorities. -
It is a terrible loss for the whole world but they are promising to rebuild. They can rebuild the building but not the history behind it. I find it strange that the fire began in the most unaccessable area of the Catheral for fire men to get to. Directly in the center of the structure. They believe it was an electrical fire and not arson........JMHO

It does take a little time to keep them filled but watching the birds makes it worth while for sure. When a bunch show up at the same time they can put on a good show for sure. I don't know if I will have any birds at the new place. My daughter said she put up 1 feeder last year and did have a couple birds from time to time but she didn't tend the feeder to much and would let it get empty or not change the food often enough and it would turn sour. At least knowing she had a couple means they are in the area so a couple feeders up and maintained should begin attracting more birds fairly quick.

I plan to keep writing them. Those emails they send back that you know came from an intern with an auto signature can be useful when writing back to them again and pinning them down to get a more direct answer to my questions. They can't just resend the same form letter so eventually maybe the actual question asked will get a more direct reply.........JMHO

Yep, grandson has already got that in the works. He is getting me another 500GB external hard drive and coming back to dub what he did yesterday and he will be holding onto it for me. I gave him a safe a couple years back when my ammo count to large for it and he will be keeping it in the safe.................

Yea he is really good with this type of stuff. He just stays so busy him finding the time can be an issue but he made time for me yesterday..........lol

Ok first off thank everyone for their opinions and ideas. They are very appreciated. Here is what I ended up doing. I have a grandson that is a trouble shooter for Verizon and has been for several years. He is a computer Geek for sure and if it anything to do with phones or computers he can fix it. I caught him on one of his few days off and had him come buy. Told him my concernes before he came. He said he uses Bitdefender which is the same company Verizon uses so he installed it on my Samsung 7 Smart Phone, my laptop computer and my desk top. Cost $82.00 for up to 5 devices and that is for 2 years. He said since I only had 3 devices he was going to split the cost with me and use the service on 2 of his devices so we would get our moneys worth from the service. After he downloaded and installed it he did total scans on all of my devices and now I am fully protected for 2 years anyway. As for a back up, he brought me a brand new external 500GB Hard drive and down loaded everything I wanted to back up and he said there is enough space left on it I should be able to store anything I want to store in the future. So that is where I am at with that. I feel much better knowing my devices are now protected and I have everything I wanted to save backed up.

Thanks for all the advice and now I have something to look at. I have planned on putting all my important my pictures and other stuff I want to keep on Thumbdrives. Going to get some next time I am at Walmart. I do have Windows 7 I am using so I will look at what explorer has to offer for sure. Again, thanks for all the advice.

Prayers being sent. GOD saw fit to give your mother a long life to be with family. I feel he will allow her a painless and gentle passing when the time comes.

My computer security program account is coming up for renewal and I am looking to see what companies people use and think do a good job. The one I am with seems to work ok but they have all of a sudden gotten very proud of their service. I got my notice it will be coming due soon and the price went up by 40% from last year so it has got me shopping. I don't know that much about the companies so I would like to hear what folks are using and do they like them. Other than the one I am using I am aware of Norton and McAfee and have used them in the past. The one I am using now was the one that this computer had on it when I bought it which is AVG. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Bersaguy aka Doug

Ok so when I write one I need to ask for a specific topic I want a reply to and not just an open door topic. I did specify Red Flag Laws and I did notice that the reply did not answer the specific subject I wrote her about. And yes the reply was a vague response but to be honest I was surprised I even got a reply at all. I guess the reply is a good place to start at least.
