  1.   I totally agree with you Dave and it went a lot higher up then the officers making the stops. The Dickson County Sheriff was involved on the local level and a couple high ranking officials in TBI were involved in it. Channel 5 New Investigates was the ones that broke the story after and almost two year under cover investigation and it took them 5 nights of broadcasting it to get the full story out. My son drives through that section of highway every day to work and he said that the Plain Black Suburbans, Black SUV's and plain white Sheriff sedans are still pulled into the mediums just sitting waiting for the cars they are looking for to come threw. He said many times they will have one pulled over and removing all kinds of stuff out of the vehicles searching them. The Governor even got involved it it when he was made aware of the fact that TBI was involved and he pulled the and the Feds sent in Drug Enforcement to replace them. Those are the black vehicles out there now. I saw them my self a couple times on my trips down to visit him and my grandchildren. I think a few sheriffs deputies got some unpaid time off for their part in it but I think that was the sheriff covering his butt was all. He tried to explain to the News people where all the money was going but was stumbling all over his answers so you could tell he was lying or looking for answers that would satisfy the reporters. Have not heard much about it in a couple years now but it is still going on and the state, counties and the feds are making some big bucks. Many of the takes on these stops were for 1/4 million bucks in cash of drug money being taken back west. The films the news had in hidden cameras showed them unloading bricks of money out of the sleeping areas of big trucks and out of false refrigeration units on truck trailers. Thats not counting all the cash they found in hidden compartments of cars they stopped. I will see if I can find it on the New channel 5 Network and post a link about it here.
  2. I have sold a few cars over past few years and I would just sign the title under seller section and then give the buyer a written receipt for the amount I sold the vehicle for. Last one I sold had a bad motor in it so even though the buyer paid me a fair amount for it because he planned on restoring it I put a salvage amount of the receipt and noted the blown engine on the receipt saving him some sales tax when he did title it.
  3. Well, I have sat here for the last hour reading all the pro's and con's in this thread. I think most all that posted here have made their points clear to a point. My issue is not whether DUI checkpoints are legal or illegal. If a check point is sat up at a certain location and during the time it is up they check 500+ cars and trucks and they remove 1 or 10 drunk drivers from our highways I am glad that those many drunks didn't have the opportunity to possibly kill a family coming home from a movie or from visiting Grandmother. I have probably passed through 50 of these checkpoints in my life and in most cases I have been asked the questions of where I have been or where I am going. I have several friends on THP and other law enforcement agencies and for those of you that think the LEO is being to nosy let me inform folks here that they are not asking the question to be nosy. They are asking the question to strike up a conversation with you to check out your alertness and to see if they can sense any slurring or problem with your phrasing of sentences. It is not because they are trying to invade your privacy. If you don't want to get a DUI it is easy enough to avoid. Don't drink and drive of have a designated driver or better yet take a cab home.........JMHO on that. Now a major issue I have about highway stops has been in the news a lot recently and those are the traps that the TBI and Local Sheriff Offices have been doing between Memphis and Nashville called Stops For Profit!!! They are stopping certain vehicles from cars to 18 wheelers supposedly checking for Drugs coming Mexico. It was discovered that the LEO's were not stopping the vehicles coming east from Memphis to get the Drugs. They were stopping them going west. They were letting the drugs reach their destinations untouched and stopping the vehicles going back to Memphis carrying the cash. All is was was sting for the cash and they were making tons of it and it was for the most part the money was going right into slush funds for the TBI and Sheriffs offices and some even into the LEO's pockets. Once the cash was collected 99% of the vehicles and drivers where released and told to go on. Now that was upsetting to me. They let the drugs flow like water into Nashville just to get the money. I was thrilled when that game was exposed about 2 years ago by an investigative news network that spent almost 2 years watching how the game played out before exposing it. That is the things that rattle my confidence in our police departments, not DUI checkpoints. It was proven that many times vehicles that were stopped that had large sums of money in them were actually legal folks with large sums of cash in them that were going to purchase an automobile in Memphis or make some other legal purchase. One woman was stopped that was taking her first vacation in 15 years and going down to visit her family she had not seen in many years. They took their money also. Once the News broke the game those people did get their money back. I have not heard anything more about it recently but I did hear that the LEO"S working that game were ordered to move to and begin working the east bound lanes and stop the drugs from getting to Nashville and East. I think once the money was removed from the equation the LEO's kinda lost interest in it as much. Don't know for sure.........It is things like that, that give Police a bad name in MHO.
  4. Well, I can add a little to this when it comes to eating healthy. All my life growing up we ate most all our foods that we grew right on the farm. Yep All the veggies and stuff came from our garden and all our meat from chicken to steaks with a little hog thrown in at every meal. Well as I got older I began listening to folks talk about this food and that food and what you should eat and what you should not eat and soon was became a label reader and I tried to be a safer eater I thought anyway. I had gained a few more pounds than I thought I needed so began eating less fried meats and more roasted meats or out door grilled meats and fish. Was beginning to field pretty good about my health and was trying to decide one evening what I wanted to cook. Decided I would treat myself and dine out at a fast food place and take the night off from cooking. Went to Wendy's, got a double cheese Burger w/ mayo, small fries and a small frosty and came back home to eat. This was at about 6 PM. At 8PM I was at Centennial Medical Center Hospital after suffering my first Heart attack at age 55 on Thanksgiving Weekend 2003. That was also the first time I had eaten out at fast food in about 10 years and my first time to ever eat at a Wendy's. Now I have stints in my heart and have not been back to Wendy's. Oh yea  have not been to any other burger joints either. If I want a  burger now it is a  Deer burger made from pure deer and cooked on my grill. Now with all that said I don't blame Wendy's for my heart attack. It was my choice to eat out. I just thought of how ironic it was that first time in years I ate out, first time I ever went to Wendy's and first heart attack all in a span of about 2 hours. I know anyone can have a heart attack but it was all the timing I thought was ironic.......... :2cents:  :2cents:

    Best Pizza

I guess I am one of the lucky ones here. I had an old Italian move in just down the road from me and we have become friends. They are from Chicago and ever so often the grandmother will order products and stuff needed to make true Chicago style deep pan pizza pies. Every time they make Pizza's I get one sent to me through one of the grand kids. Man you talk about a killer pizza she makes them. She send me a whole one and I can eat as much as I want and still freeze at least two more meals from the pan before washing it and sending it back.......Like I said LIp Smackin Good Pizza's............ :yum:  :yum:  :yum:  :yum:
  6. I love Waffle House and was there just the other night but every time I go in one now the menu's have changed and the prices have gone up again. They are about to price me out of their restaurants........... :ugh:
  7. I'm just trying to figure out the intentions of these three guys?  I'm sure it was to draw attention to them selves which they were successful in doing but beyond that point what was their goals. I may be wrong but I think we as gun owners are already facing up hill climb and don't need anyone giving the anti gunners more ammunition to use against us. If my thoughts are wrong someone please let me know. I realize they have the legal right to do what they did but was it necessary?..................JMHO
  8. Well for what my 2 cents is worth, I will vote for Carr even though I know nothing about him because Lamar has been a disappointment for sure but about 8 months ago he really made a bunch of fishermen and women very happy when he backed the Corps down on their plans to stop the fishing below all the dams and made the corps remove their restrictions they had put in play. As many of us know many folks that fish also hunt and also have CCW permits. I'm one of them but don't fish as much anymore. By his backing the Corps down and regaining all those fishing waters that many fishing Guides use that is going to swing a lot of votes to him........JMHO. As far as Corker, he speaks with forked tongue on so many issues you never know what to believe with him.........JMHO and foot not to this thread is the title reads Democrat incumbent Lamar Alexander. I think Alexander is a republican (almost)
  9. I just wonder if our Government will ever get the memo that American People sent them. I think it read Please quit sticky our Government nose in other Governments Business. If they did, they didn't understand it. They didn't learn in Korea, They didn't learn in Vietnam, they didn't learn in Afghanistan the first time, They didn't learn in Operation Desert Storm, They didn't learn in Afghanistan the second time nor in Iraq and yet now we have another administration wanting to repeat all our past blunders again. There is no such thing as a limited response in war and once you fire that first missile your involved. You possibly make new instantly friends and surely you make new enemies at the same time. At the present time this administration has many issues that pertain to this country that need fixing well before we get involved in trying to fix a country's problem 1/2 way around the world from us. Also maybe someday someone might tell me at what point did any of our administrations decide we needed to warn an enemy 2 to 6 month ahead of time when, where and how we planned to strike. Did Japan warn us at Pearl Harbor? I think not and their strike was about 99.5 % effective. Strike first and explain later has always seemed to work quit well.  This is all JMHO
  10. Welcome aboard, I just joined a few days back myself........
  11. I live in a small cottage behind my Daughters home. It's just me and an old dog and I have  several hand guns place strategically through out my home. They are not in plain view but still easily accessible in any room. All of them have hot tubes. I don't want to have to load a tube to defend myself. An empty tube in a split second incident is an unloaded gun. The gun I sleep next to is actually in a holster that is attached to the bed and within arms reach which eliminates opening a drawer of a night stand to get my gun. My old dog will give me any warning of someone out side as her hearing is great and will give me plenty of warning should someone want to try and enter my home. My carry weapons also have hot tubes and I don't go to my mail box without a sidearm>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>JMHO
  12. My first hand gun was a single action 22 LR Colt with Bone grips and 4-3/4 Barrel and I was 14 years old. Had that gun until my home got burglarized in 1988 and they took 18 guns from my home. I reported it to the Police soon as we returned home that night.  I know it was someone that knew me and my family and probably one of my two sons because they got 9 of the guns that were kept in false walls spaces in the house that only someone that knew us would have known where to look. I figured they would begin showing up in Pawn shops or found at crime scenes. To this day not one serial number on any of them has shown up anywhere. I still call the Sheriff down there in Cheatham county once a month and ask and get the same answer. NOPE!!!  Who ever took those guns still has them to this day and that has been 25 years ago. It's just unbelievable that not one has turned up anywhere.
  13. My idea of gun control is to have both hands firmly on your weapon before firing it...................... :usa:
  14. It's no wonder her father disowned her and was ashamed of her and her actions for some many years. I still don't think here and Peter, her brother speak. She shamed the entire family with her actions. I won't watch anything she is in on TV or movies. Spots, first you have  to regret what you did before you will suffer for it and she does not regret it and still defends her actions for it to this day. I cannot believe that some crazy vet from that war has not taken her out yet..........JMHO
  15. Don't know how many of ya'll got the memo but Buds up in Kentucky is having a blow out sale this weekend on all ammo and going to sell at cheaper prices. Looks like they are selling all type and calipers. Might be worth a trip to Lexington KY this weekend........
  16. Gosh thanks for the warm welcome form you folks. Glad to see I have a few fellow Gallatians in here. Maybe we can get together some time for coffee..........
  17. I guess it was not news worthy enough to be mentioned that is was a black man killing a white man. I guess the race card was not in play. Where is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?  I guess  they are in hiding so they cannot be questioned about this shooting because they would have to explain why they are not up in arms and protesting the death of another young man because he was white. Funny how they don't have a problem screaming racial issues when a young white man kills a young black man.  A life is a life and they should be up in arms on this issue also. That just shows how actively racist both of them are. Hey guys, your color is showing!!!! .........JMHO  Now my friends know why I won't walk to my mail box with out a gun to pick up my mail near the street.
