Back several years ago I was given the learning experience of my life when I watched a friend of mine shoot. He was in training for United States Marshals Service .He wanted to be a U.S. Marshall more than life itself. He was a Marine Sniper before he sit his eyes on that. I went and watched him qualify. He amazed me for sure. This was a closed shooting course and the targets were in the form of human outlines. Each man testing was given 24 hours to learn the 7 different sounds that each target made when it stood up. One target was a woman with groceries in her arms, another one was a uniformed police officer. One was of a little boy with a toy gun and 4 were bad guys and each bad guy had a different sound then the next. My buddy Butch shot expert and killed all 4 bad guys and never shot any innocent person and folks he was blind folded. He had been practicing shooting at noises for over a year because he knew that passing the blind fold test meant you got the job or you didn't. He would have buddies come by and they would hide behind walls behind him and pull ropes on different sounding targets. He was so good he was scary. He even had special hearing aids made to make sure he heard every sound around him. Now with that said, In my past I have known several blind people. Some from birth and some from war and I often wondered how true it was about other senses making up for senses lost. I have seen a few of my old friends that lost their eyesight in war that I served with and one of them can hear a finishing nail drop on a carpet and tell you what piece of furniture it fell near in the room. I have little doubt he would miss an intruder in his home if he had to shoot one. Especially in a dark house when of course the blind person will have the full advantage. You can bet if I went to visit my buddy Phillip and I knew he had a gun I would not stand out side his door and call him on the phone and let him know it was me coming in your crazy. I know he could hit me at least twice before I hit the floor. Now with that said to allow a totally untrained person that has never been around a firearm and is blind to get a gun and a carry permit, That is a really scary thought for sure. Don't know that answer..............JMHO

I didn't think I was going to have very many this year either but I am guessing right now I have about 50 to 60 resident birds that will stay till it's time to migrate but up until a month ago I only had about 5 and they all showed up here about same time and I had to put out more feeders to make sure they all got fed. I sit out there on my patio and they will buzz all around me and i love it when one will get about 3 feet from my face and just sit and hover there looking at me. I have had some do that for as long as 1 minute before another one comes in and distracts them and away they go...I have had folks tell me about one flowering Vine that grows up a piece of laddies if you plant it at the base of it in early spring and it will come back every year but I can find out the name of it. It has little horn type flowers on it and they say Hummingbirds love it and when I first moved here there was some here but it finally died that year we had that really late freeze and frost.
-
I sure wish you knew the name of that bush/vine. There was one here when i moved here and it would come back every year on it's own and had birds on it all the time. It finally died and I have not been able to find out what it was so i could plant more of them........I know what you mean out filling the feeders but I don't really mind. Gives me something to do and I keep it mixed up in the fridge in gallon containers.

I have heard many different discussions on this very issue and it was even covered in my class when i was applying to get my carry permit. While our instructor carried open he also stated it was an individuals decision whether to do so or not. It is what ever that particular person feels comfortable with. Your correct about the stats on how many crimes may be prevented by the presence of a person with an open carry. Could be hundreds or thousands. That we will never know. I just know that if I'm in a store or a parking lot or anywhere else I want the element of surprise to be on my side. If a person does not know your armed and he is going to harm someone else or do something else stupid he will most likely take his eyes off of you to continue to his objective. I want that few seconds that he/she is distracted if I plan on getting involved..........jmho

There back in late Spring early summer I thought we were not going to have any this year. I always put up one or two feeders early for early travelers passing through going up east. I finally in mid July got two regulars so I put out 3 more feeders and still only had 2 for about two weeks. Now I guess most folks took their feeders down thinking they weren't coming. About 3rd day of August I had about 25 birds fighting over 5 feeders so I put up 3 more for a total of 8 nd now I bet I have 40 to 50 birds buzzing all over m house and yard. I just came in from watching them feeding feuding and fussing and they are really funny to watch. I laugh all the time I am out there sitting and watching. I have to fill the feeders every 2 days since they all have shown up. I sure do enjoy watching them. Does anyone here enjoy feeding and watching them?

back when i had my bait business up and operational to general public I paid for advertising on a couple of the larger fishing sites and then paid yahoo for my web site and domain but that's it. I would pay here if I was planning on selling anything and would go lifetime but like OS I'm afraid to buy green bananas and don't make plans farther ahead then a loaf of sliced bread molding.

Your not going to get any argument out of me on that. Unless your a LEO in uniform or a detective in plain clothes with badge on belt your just asking someone to challenge you is my opinion also. Many times depending on where i might be going I will have two concealed weapons on my person and always have backup magazines along.

I have no clue what his teleprompter writer will put on it for him to read but the words will not be his own as they seldom are. The few times he tried going it alone he put his size 12 shoe with foot installed right directly in his big mouth. I think he was told right after that to never ever speak for your self again. His puppet masters that pull his strings tell his writers what to put on the prompters. What ever he says will not change my mind on this issue. It is like the slogan on squad cars that quotes " Just say No to drugs" I say "Just say no to war.".............jmho

I think it must have been a rookie but even if he was seasoned officer he needs to know he is a police officer that lives in a state that allows people to be armed and it really should not have been that much of a surprise to him. I don't know how many folks here in Tennessee know it but when a LEO stops you 99.9% of the time they run your car plates any times before the stop but almost every time after the stop before they approach your vehicle. Your license plates inform the officer that you do have a carry permit and you may be armed. I didn't know it till I had a Trooper stop me about 2 year ago for a minor infraction for which I was not even ticketed. When the police Officer approached my door I had my window down. He requested my drivers license. Proof of insurance and if I was armed at the time he requested to see my carry permit. I provided him with all he requested. He told me that I had a tail light not working and needed to get it fixed. I told him I would do so the following morning. He handed me all of my papers back and actually thanked me. I asked him why he thanked me and his reply was for taking the responsibility to assist us in protecting you and your family and with that he returned to his Squad car. Super nice LEO and did it by the book but that was when i learned that if you have a carry permit it is tied to your license plates of your car or truck also alerting the officers so they will not be caught off guard at the sight of a gun. I think that might be something all states might want to look into doing..........jmho

China also has ships moving into the area in was is suppose to be war games along with Iranian war ships and Syrian shore batteries testing the new toys the got from Russia. War games can turn to war with one wrong shot. As far as China goes if we don't stop importing any of their food products they will end up killing us with poison being imported in cans. I also think it should be made mandatory that any food being imported from China be clearly marked on the label Product from China so people can make their own minds up whether to buy it or not. Last week I read that the FDA said it was going to actually ease up on items having to be labeled made in China. I think I will begin looking for farmers here that will sell their meat and vegetables to me and buy directly from the source when at all possible...........jmho

Yea, I think there are many far more capable men and women that would handle this in a much more mature manner that would be best for the country. The guys from Duck Dynasty, the folks from Swamp people, or maybe even that guy with that silver swamp jet boat (Can't think of his name at present). Any of them could deal with this issue far better than those clowns in Washington DC............jmho

I appreciate all the likes I am getting from this post I made but it is just fact and if I were Putin and I saw the opportunity to get even for being shamed back when I was a young commander in the Russian Military and got my butt kicked by a nation that had no business in my war I would pay them back also. He has his chance right now knowing we have a weak leader and an even weaker Congress and I would get my payback in too.............jmho

Poll: Majority Of Americans Approve Of Sending Congress To Syria
bersaguy replied to TMF's topic in General Chat
Wish full thinking but will never happen. They don't seem to mind sending our loved ones into harms way and you can bet none of them have any family in any dangerous war zones. They can keep all their family stateside riding a desk if they are in the military at all..........jmho -
I agree with you 1000% on this issue Joe. I for the life of me will never understand why our Federal Government thinks we need to stick our Government nose in another countries affairs. Those stone age people have been fighting wars over religion for 1000's of years and they have been fighting dictators about as long. Retaliation for 9/11 was necessary. The invasion of Kuwait back in the 90's was necessary and had a multi national force of 11 countries in that one. All the rest of these civil wars are just that. Not any of our business. All of the countries Obama thought he had with him he learned and the G20 Conference this passed weekend he learn he does not have. I was hoping while in Russia they would have decided to keep him but no such luck. They made sure his plane was fueled and ready to leave and waved good bye to him with both hands. Unless they come here like they did on 9/11 we have no reason what so ever to be over there.............jmho

Well at the present time Haslam is tied up in his own issues to really worry about Lamar's problems. He has been caught in a few scams that implement that he is trying to lie his way out of and it has got a bunch of folks upset because it cost many folks their jobs and if folks get any madder at Haslam and he steps up and speaks up for Lamar the only thing he would do right now is hurt Lamar which would be a good thing..............jmho

I have a buddy that was investigated by ATF because someone reported him having a great number of guns. Yes he does have a great number of guns and he has them locked in about a dozen gun or more large gun Vaults in a very secured room in his basement that the house could burn down around and not even blister the paint of the safes. He was more than nice to the ATF people and he showed them his entire gun selection and they ask if they could inventory his guns for their records and he said no. They didn't argue with him and they didn't come back with warrants or give him any more trouble. The busy body that told the ATF about the mans guns failed to give them the whole story. All except about 10 of the guns are collector items. Original Winchester Model 12 Shotguns in all grades from Field grade through Skeet and Pigeon grades. He also has a selection of Original Belgium Browning's in Over and Under's in all gauges and grades. He also has Belgium Browning Automatics in all grades. Along with those he had Charles Daleys and LeFevers In double Barrels. The only guns that we not collectors Items were the guns that him and his sons hunt with which are newer guns and they were not stored in the gun vault in the basement but in a gun safe in the basement. After the ATF people we done they suggested that he send for a license as a gun collector to prevent any further issues. Now my issue with that is it is just another way of them knowing he has a lot of guns but I guess by now because of that busy body they already know he has them. I don't know why folks cannot mind their own business..........jmho

Syria - Congressional Vote Tracker
bersaguy replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I honestly think is was Obama's Arab Spring that got our people killed in Benghazi and he has done everything in his power to shift the blame on anyone he can but the American people are not stupid and they know it was his fault along with Hillary Clintons yet neither will step up and be honest or even close to honest........ :2cents: -
Punisher, The gun behind every blade of grass was a quote made back on December 8th 1941 by a Japanese Admiral back a day after Pearl when he was asked why they didn't invade America. I think you can safely say now that there are about 5 or more guns behind every blade of grass in America now but I like your post and you can bet We the People will defend our Country. I will stand beside you and all other Americans if that time should ever come.......... :usa: :usa:

Syria - Congressional Vote Tracker
bersaguy replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Man I went and opened up that chart at the top and began reading all the different statements made by the different politicians and that is exactly what each answer sounded like. A typical political answer. Some almost made ya want to feel sorry for them for be undecided. If they are so undecided about something this serious what in the heck are they doing in Washington in the first place? When they run for office don't they know up front that things like this may come up and they should be prepared for them?............. :stunned: :stunned:
