  1.   We didn't use the AA's because the base wads didn't hold up as well as the Federals and Peters did. We could get about 5 or 6 reloads out of the Federals and about the same amount out of the Peters but only 2 or 3 loads out of the AA's. We shot a lot of trap in our teenage years years and my buddy went on to become the Illinois State Trap Shooting Champion but had to give it up when he received his draft notice and he joined the Navy. I got mine the following year and also joined the Navy.  He and his oldest son still shoots but not anywhere near as often since the firearms situation  has gotten so bad in Illinois that most Trap and Skeet clubs has closed down.
  2. Not sure how true this is but seems to be authentic from a tea party email. Hope the link works. If this is true things may get very rough in November. Might ant to stock up on food now......jmho     http://www.teaparty.org/crisis-usda-orders-states-to-withhold-electronic-food-stamps-29630/
  3. When the time comes Corker needs to go also because he was also in on that deal
  4. Yea leroy, Back years ago and were talking when I was in my teens my buddy and I shot trap at a local Gun club and when we began loading we only had a Texan Reloader which was slow but did the job. When we moved up to shooting more often were both pitched in and both a Mec 600 which loaded much faster and we could knock out about 500 reloads in a few hours with both of us working on it. Things were much less costly back then but sure was fun. We used Federal Primers, Hercules red dot powder, Remington Power Piston wads and Peters shot. We found the best two casings to reload were Federal and Peters.........
  5. This is an article about a speech Obama gave today after signing the Bill last night...........     http://news.yahoo.com/fiscal-crisis-obama-calls-talks-budget-immigration-farm-152943661--business.html
  6. Well you can bet I won't be forgetting any of this and you can bet not 1 vet will forget it either along with the entire military. I read an article that talked about what Obama had to say after he signed the bill last night. I wanted to :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: when I read it. The only highlight in the entire article was when his former Secretary Of Defense in a nice way called him a chicken in an interview for refusing to roll up his sleeves and get involved in the negotiations. More and more of his former inner circle are lining up against him. First it was Robert Gibbs and now it's Leon Panetta. Looks like he is losing former friends fast.........jmho
  7. Well, it might seem like a small step but it will fail. They will just be wasting $240,000.00 bucks to pay some guy from New York to come into the deep south and try and implement a program that has no chance of working. People in the South don't look at things like people in New York do. Plus I think the crime rate in New York is still about where it was before Bloomberg put the programs into effect which proves they didn't work.......jmho
  8. With election year looming I don't look for much on gun control to show up. Like someone mentioned that is one subject that no politicians want to take up in an election year...........jmho
  9. If you can find one, the Older model Winchester Model 12 Trap grade is a great trap and skeet gun. I shot trap and skeet with one for many years and they are a great gun. I don't have a clue what they are selling for or if you can even find one for sale but worth a look to see for sure. Other wise like Troutburger mentioned  The Remington Wingmaster model 1100 is also a great gun for what your wanting to do with it.
  10. I cannot believe that anyone here would have expected a bill to come out of the Senate or the House without have 5000 lbs of pork fat added, especially since they all knew it would get voted on with out folks having time to read it. It is just like Obama care bill. Botox Pelosi's infamous quote of the century. "You have to sign it to see what is in it." Once again same story and different Bill..................
  11. He would have my vote for sure. You can bet he would be more than willing to negotiate over any thing that came up and would not need a teleprompter to tell him what to say. There would be no puppet strings attached to him. You would also always know where he stood on all parts of Government and You can bet he would have the most transparent Government in history. Ted is not bashful when it comes to him speaking his mind for sure.............. :usa:  :usa:
  12. Hope you have a complete and great recovery my friend and you up and around fairly soon.................
  13. Several years back we took a trip up to Eureka Springs Arkansas and saw a lot of them dead on roads like you see opossums on roads in Tennessee. I guess the climate change is what is moving them east.
  14. Sorry to hear about your theft loss my friend. A thief and a liar are the two people I hate the most myself. You might check local pawn shops for next couple days. Good chance some of it may show up. I would bet they don't have a clue on the value of the knives but you can bet pawn brokers will and they will low ball the guy hoping he does not know their worth. As far as tools go if they are a thief they won't have any use for the tools because they don't work so maybe the tools will show up also. I doubt the ammo will show up because they will probably know some fence that will buy that stuff quicker than a pawn shop with less questions. I hope you did get your stuff back.....
  15.   I don't plan are arguing this point with anyone but is that not what every tax payer is already doing is funding our military? That means all parts of it including the funding of the families of our Fallen Hero's. I give to Wounded Warriors every month and I also sent a donation to Fisher House last week for their efforts to help. Our present administration can find many ways to spend our tax payer dollars by funding rebels in foreign nations all over the world when help is needed here at home. My mother always said that charity begins at home. I believe that with all my heart so you take care of the families of our wounded and Fallen hero's first and then you take care of the poor here and you focus on what this country needs first. Then after you have fixed all the problems here if there is any change left over then and only then do you look at helping a foreign nation with their problems...........jmho
  16. I had to laugh when I read this. I had that same issue with the 450 yards with a  22lr so I made few upgrades and went to the 22 Mag WMR and a good 3.12x40 scope and have not done the 450 yet but I am about to perfect the 350 range with it.........
  17. Gosh!!! does anyone honestly believe this was not planned?  Notice it took place at almost the same time the ACA was to come on line. The Democrats new a year ago that the Health care web sites would not be up and operational and they needed as many distractions as possible going on when October 1 came and the Web site failed with them having 3 years to get it up and ready and they failed. They were able to get most of the country locked down in 48 hours but could not get the ACA website up in 3 years and 640 billion dollars spent to get it done. Has anyone forgotten that this is the most COVER-Up administration in American history. If they face an issue they created and didn't work they will create as many diversions as possible to draw attention away from one of their screw ups.. As far as Obama refusing to negotiate was nothing more than stall tactic. Also, the reason he will not negotiate with anyone of the opposite party is because he does not know how and they will not allow teleprompters in negotiations I don't think. Notice he always designates all of those jobs to Reid or Pelosi or poor Jay Carney. I bet he has ulcers on top of ulcers. That is why Gibbs bailed on him. ......jmho.
  18. Ok so they might kick the can down the road. You fight the fights you can win. I agree that Ted Cruz and Mike Lee would be the men to throw your support behind. Folks are seeing what Obama is really all about this round. They also got a much better look at just how the ACA is nothing but one big lie and a major train wreck is coming from it. I look for it to implode by it's self as less and less people keep getting these very high premium hikes and deductibles that were 500.00 on their old plan are not 6,000.00 on the ACA   As more and more people even people that voted for this change are finding out about what this is really about he is now losing not only many supporters but even many of the far left News Medias are looking more at moving towards the middle and they have began asking Obama the tough questions they would not dare have ask 3 months ago. That filibuster ed Cruz did really got  alot of folks looking a lot closer at the ACA which is a very good thing. Even some of Obama's own inner circle are asking tough questions about the issues with the ACA. His former Press secretary Gibbs has began asking those hard questions of him. With the can being kicked down the road till January and February the Democrats think they have won the war. I think what they have done is just given the republicans time to re group and come the next round is when the Democrats learn that they only won a small battle. Come January is when the actual war will take place. It will be much closer to the 2014 elections and I think that will be the time that the Republicans will take the steps necessary to not only give the Democrats the fight of them lives but it will be the time the Republicans will rebuild their voter base in the American people. I read a lot of the posts in this thread and it seems that many are ready to throw in the towel. Well, I have never been one to throw in the towel until the war is over and not just a battle. If people here love this country as much as I do and they say they do then start planning right now to get all of your friends and relatives to get ready for the 2014 elections. over 131 million conservatives stayed home in 2012 and gave Obama the White house. He didn't win an election. He got a gift handed him. I am not willing to hand the Senate or the House another one in 2014. After seeing the real Obama and the real Harry Reid and the real way the Democrats operate it might be the Democratic voters that stay home next time. I have been driving around neighborhoods in my area and a few months ago I stated seeing election signs going up in yards for democrats. Last week.I actually watched as a man waked from his home to his front yard and take down all the signs and throw them in his trash can. After that ride the other day I noticed a lot of the signs that were up are gone. Now at the same time the Conservative signs are still up that were up and saw a few new ones. The war is not over yet my friends......jmho
  19. Truly a heart warming read and to think this is the kind of men that our President tries in every way to turn his back on and deprive their families of the benefits they are totally deserving of. He would rather send money to Al Quada then give it to our troops and Wounded Warriors. My prayers go out for this young man and his family. :usa: :usa: :usa:
  20. I have not watched it as much as I use to but when 6.8 made his post is reminded me that i had it. It was not a highly publicized video and I have often wondered why. It was sent to me by my Grandson while he was serving in Afghanistan. I took a little time and googled it and was surprised to see it had quite a few articles on it. I guess it may have been released at a time when there were what others may have considered more important news. Thanks for replies folks. I will now continue to watch it more often as it reminds me of our brave men and women in Uniform and how many blank checks have been paid and collected. Also how much they have sacrificed and how much our Government has done not to help them for far to many years. We need to continue to stand behind our troops and if you can find it possible make sure you become a member of the Wounded Warrior program. They are doing a great job of taking care of our troops since our Government can't seem to do it. Also if you cannot become a Wounded Warrior contributor please at least send a contribution to Fisher House as they stepped up to assist the families of the Fallen Hero's until our Government was shamed into doing their job and taking care of the families. I saw an interview last evening with Mr Fisher and he was asked if he got a thank you call from the President for his help and he said No. He said he did get a call from someone thanking him but he said it was just someone from Pentagon but he didn't know who. Now since the Bill was signed by the President to send the money it has not been sent. The Fisher House is sending each family $25,000.00 to help them until the checks from the Government do arrive. Those $25,000.00 checks to the families will not be reimbursed back by the Government because they were sent after the Bill was signed and the Fisher House new that when they sent them. Sorry for the long read.
  21. I consider myself a crusty old man and tough as nails to many things but ever so often something proves different. The post 6.8 made today brought back a video I seldom watch any more because The crusty old tough as nails guy cannot hold up and I have tears rolling down my cheeks before the video is over. I was so touched by 6.8's video that I thought I would share another one. Hope it touches ya'll like it does me.       http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=70Ikj1hZDnw&feature=related
  22. Very touching for sure. Thanks for posting............. :usa: :usa: :usa:
  23. They were made by J.C. Higgins and are very well made and yes there are still some parts around for them. You actually have a collectors Item gun and a lot of folks would like to have it for their collection. You got a great deal on the gun and I would hold onto it because it will do nothing but go up in value........jmho
  24. Ok, I am not one that believes in ghosts per say but I do believe in guardian angels. I didn’t until about 1990.  I think I have mentioned that I lost my oldest son to an auto accident. He had the accident in 1986 and was in a coma for almost a year before regaining conscious but was not going to survive because the damage to his brain stem was to severe and it was just a matter of time. During that time I had met and remarried a wonderful woman that had a teen age daughter. When my 3 million dollar insurance policy ran out of course we had to find a place to put him such as a nursing home that would accept his Medicaid. My wife being an RN knew he would not get the care he needed in any nursing home. Her decision was to quit her job and bring him home and we brought him home. She had Medicaid bring in a home health care agency and equip the room at the house with all the stuff needed to care for him. He was a quad because of his injury and required a lot of care which my wife provided without question and I worked and helped her in the evenings with him. During that time my wife’s daughter met a young man and yea things progressed and in 1989 she became pregnant. We live next door to each other in a duplex I was purchasing. My son was able to speak but his voice was slurred bad but we could understand certain things he said. As time went on her boyfriend worked and I worked and my wife and her daughter(Murieka) would care for my son Doug. Well Murieka had the baby on June 29th 1989  and her name was Danielle and Murieka would bring the baby over while helping her mother with my son (Doug jr) They would lay Danielle in the bed with Doug and he would smile and laugh out loud at her.  Danielle was born with a birth defect that would not show up for about 2 months after her birth. Doug Jr. Passed away on August 11th 1990 in his sleep. He was buried on the 13th.   About a little over a month later Murieka and his boyfriend Ritchie were awakened from a sound sleep buy by a person standing in their bedroom door way. The person was calling out to Murieka to wake up and check on the baby. At first she thought she was dreaming and then realized she was awake and she screamed out waking up Ritchie and both of them were looking at a figure standing in the doorway. The figure said again to go check on the baby and added that she has quit breathing. They both jumped up and ran into Danielle’s room and she was blue and pale and Murieka grabbed her up and began blowing in her face and forcing air in her face and they came running next door and pounding on the door and we had already heard all the noise next door and Margie(my wife was heading for the door and as she opened it up Danielle began crying and breathing again. Once things settled down a little they began talking about the figure in the door way and waking them up telling them about Danielle. Ritchie said I am not sure but the figure looked a lot like that person right there and pointed to a picture of Doug Jr. that was taken a week before his accident. Murieka agreed with him. Dougs appearance had changed a lot after his accident so they didn’t connect it together right away. There was not another incident again for about a month or so. Ritchie and Murieka had gone out for an evening with friends and they had a couple they knew volunteer to baby sit and they also had a little boy about a year old. Once they got the kids bedded down they went in and stretched out on the bed and fell a sleep. About 11:30PM both of them were awakened by a figure standing in the door way calling out for them to go check on Danielle that she has quit breathing. They jumped up and ran to the children and Danielle had turned a soft blue and the girl began blowing in her face and Margie was already headed over because she heard all the hollering and when she arrived she took Danielle and  began blowing very hard in her face and after about a minute Danielle began breathing with a  deep breath and then began crying. They all came over to our house and  now take this into consideration, this couple had never new Doug Jr. of anything about him. The guy Mike pointed at the picture of Doug Jr. and said that is the guy that woke us up hollering at us. About 5 minutes later Murieka and Ritchie got home and they came right over. Now over the next two month is had happened twice more before the doctor ordered a monitor for her that was placed on her every time she was laid down to sleep day or night and when she quit breathing a loud alarm would go off both getting attention and also loud enough to wake her up and s care her so she would begin breathing again. Doug Jr. never showed up again that you could see him but right up until I lost Margie to a heart attack in 1997 she would tell me when he had come to visit. He would move things around that belong to her just letting her know he was still around. After I lost her I would notice small things around the house that were hers that I had kept would get moved. Her hair brush was one of his favorites. I would put it on her dresser and come home from work and it would be on the bed or on the coffee table in the living room. This went on as long as I lived in that duplex. I ended up selling it about 2 years later. Now is he still around? Not as much but I kept her brush and every so often I will get it out of the dresser drawer and put it on top and wake up the next morning and it will be moved from her Dresser to my chest of drawers. Not every time but once in a while. Now with all of this said. Do I believe in actual ghosts? Not really. Do I believe in Guardian Angels? By all that is in my heart, Yes I do because had it not been for Doug Jr. being Danielle’s Guardian Angel she would not be here today and I would not have her and my new 4th great grandson from all my grandchildren. Danielle outgrew her breathing problem at about age 3 and the doctors said that she would have probably be a victim of SIDS  had her parents not remained alert to he problem. They never told the doctor about Doug Jr. because they didn’t want the doctor to think they were crazy…LOL That is my Holloween Story and I’m sticking to it!!!!
  25.   He probably already knew they needed changing and thought he would check out car but you could tell he never hit the truck but came darn close for sure........jmho
