  1. I don't know how many of you have been listening to the news but they have been talking about the channel Markers on the lake not being where they are suppose to be. Some of the main channel markers he moved out of the main channel and are in shallow water knee deep and they need to be put back on the deep water. I did see yesterday that the Corps had boats out there putting the markers back where they are suppose to be but they said it will take a couple more weeks to get all of them where they need to be. Just thought I would post this for folks that may be planning an outing on the 4th weekend on Priest Lake that if you don't know the lake well make sure you have your GPS on and are watching it so you don't tear up a lower unit of worse get hurt by running a ground. Just be careful if your going to Priest Lake. If it is not to far out of your way you may want to go to Old Hickory Lake as those channel markers are where they are suppose to be. My so in law was on Priest Lake 3 weeks ago and he told me that many of the markers were in the wrong place but he knows the lake well but he still had his GPS on and was running by it. Be safe!!
  2. I hope the Indian tribe does buy the company. It would be better than the company just closing down. I'm sure the Native American tribe will do a good job of keeping the company in operation. They have proven over the years that they are good smart business people. Also the Indian tribes operate under different laws in many cases such as tax exempt in many of their existing companies such as the Casinos they already operate. ....JMHO
  3. Any positive habit is better than what the alternative could be! I have heard several doctors say that the Virus can't survive long in direct sunlight yet look at all the people that have tested positive after a day at a hot sunny beach. So what does one believe?? I actually have not changed much except I just stay home. My Daughter and Son In law do all my shopping for me cause they are out everyday for work and they both wear masks and do the hand sanitizers routines before bringing my food in the house and I have also got Lysol and other spray sanitizers that I spray the counters with after I put my food up. The doctors have all agreed that the food packages are not likely to contain many if any viruses. After I get the food up I wash my hands with sanitizing soap and then follow it up with hand sanitizer lotion. I also live in the sticks about 25 miles from the nearest town and 50+ miles from the nearest big city which is Nashville. I do have times I would like to just go out for a drive in the evening but Jeep is broke down and won't be fixed for at least a week or longer. It's funny but I never use to watch golf on TV but recently I look forward to it coming on so I can watch it. I do have a good friend I email quit often and he replies back pretty regally and that helps also. I do hope everyone here stays safe and we all get through this un-harmed!!!
  4. Does anyone know the proper way to wear the face mask to protect yourself and others around you? I asked a doctor friend about all these people running around with their noses uncovered and the mask on only their mouth. He said that they might as well not be wearing one if they are not going to cover their noses as well as the mouth. That is why they test people by putting a swap up the nose because that is were they find the spores for the virus. I was going to look at buying a few masks till my son In law gave me 10 N95 masks which is my understanding are the best on the market. His company buys them by the pallet because his company does spray fire proofing of commercial buildings under construction and they are required to wear the N95 masks to perform their job. I just thought I would bring this up so people that are wearing the masks need to make sure your nose is covered along with your mouth!!
  5. I have no pity for all the protesters and rioters that catch it because they are the ones not following the guidelines of self distancing and many are not wearing masks. My only problem is the protests that have children in them!!!
  6. Oh I don't trust anything China says about anything. That is why I say we need to get some spies in there to see what the truth is either way. It is almost 99.9% proven that the Virus was created in a bio/lab and not coming from Wet meat markets in China as they have had these markets many years and it just now shows up. So I'm thinking since they knew how it was created they may have a medicine to treat it and not telling anyone. They can say they shut down neighborhoods but who is there to verify that to be truth?? In all reality China has been pretty tight lipped about everything since the virus was spread across the world. China knew they had a problem for 3 months before telling the world about it and they kept sending infected people all over the world for three months before countries stopped anyone from China entering their countries. Then they began making excuses about the delay and at one point actually tried to blame the United States Soccer team for bringing it into the company during a Soccer tournament but the timing was off and all the soccer team tested negative for it. When that lie didn't pan out they began coming up with more lies...…...
  7. Will it or won't it be here in winter depends on which doctor your listing to at that particular moment. I have heard it will and have heard that it won't. Have heard we will have a vaccine by end of summer and others say next year. In all honesty I don't think they know much more the what some and not all of the symptoms are and not a clue on how to actually treat it. I think they might want to find out what China knows about it because they have not only gone around the curve but over the hill and are having few to no new cases. From all indications 2 of those 3 emergency hospitals they panicked to build never even got used. I think we might need to get a few spies in over there and find out what they know that we don't. ……………...JMHO
  8. I had a buddy go by a distillery that had gone from making whisky to making hand sanitizer and they were giving it away and he got 4 quarts of the stuff and brought me 2 of them and my granddaughter works for a company that makes a product like spray Lysol and she got me 5 cans of it plus she got me 5 pump bottles of the sanitizing hand soap. I got two of the pocket size hand sanitizers I can carry when and if I ever go out again. I'm pretty much set here at the house. My son in law fixed me up with 10 N95 masks also if I decide to go out which since they are doing all my shopping for me when they do theirs I don't have to go out for anything at present. I go out and fill Hummingbird feeders and walk around the yard with Darby and she is great company and only slightly spoiled...…….
  9. I don't think BLM sees the color of a police officers skin!! They just see blue so that tells me they don't care if this cost black officers their jobs. They are stopping the men and women wearing blue and that is their goal!!!
  10. A big can of that powerful long stream Wasp spray kept in the console works good. That stuff is nasty mean!!!
  11. My reason for two fast shots center mass. Two hits two different spots. double the damage and I do have a back up mag when I am out and toting which has not been for last 3+ months. To old to temp fate and ask to get sick. If I get sick with it, it's going to have to come to me!
  12. Many times shooting center mass does not render some people helpless and that is why I would follow it up with a second round to make sure the person is not able to shoot me. Two rounds very quick will mean much less a possibility the bad guy will be able to fire back but still keep your eye on them till help arrives.....JMHO.
  13. Sam is the best dang gunsmith I have ever found and you will love his work and his prices...….JMHO
  14. I have a feeling most folks here are in that same shape....LOL
  15. Teflon tape like you use on pipe threads will work to stop leaks around threads if that is where your leak is around the threads of the jar to feeder. I have used it a couple times with good success.
  16. Well where I live now I feel I have enough ammo on hand to keep myself defended and between my son in laws stock pile and mine we are good to go. If things don't calm down pretty soon it may not wait for the elections. I just don't see the marches and riots getting this far out but when the bigger ones are going on I do make a few changes on house things. I have a camera system installed that was here when I moved here that SIL's company had installed when they were storing equipment in this house and it is hooked to my computer and I can see everything going on all around the outside of the house day or night.
  17. Well your luck sounds like mine on that lake. I know a lot of people go down there and have a great time. I'm just not one of them and it sounds like your trip was not all that great. Glad you got out away from things for a while. They say a bad day on the water is better than a great day at work. I think that is from people that just hate their jobs.....LOL. About the grass on lower units. I have had friends or known several people that burned up their lower units trying to push their boat through that grass so I never did get in the grass but just fished from the weed lines with motor in clear water.
  18. Well I guess I got it right cause I have 5 feeders and I made a gallon of Sugar water using 4 cups of sugar and boiling it just right. I still have that one very small hummer coming to the feeder he has laid claim to and as of now he has no competition and has all 5 feeders to himself but he has picked out one that is out of site of the other 4 and he seems to like the water cause he will come on the feeder and drink 10 or 15 times and then fly up in a tree across the yard every time. He is the smallest Hummer I have ever seen. I don't think head to tail he is over 1.5 inches long and grey with a red throat. I am hoping to get a few more soon. I will be changing out the fluid in a week in all of them. I have a gallon made and in the fridge!!
  19. I use to ask my boys if they had hollow legs that they were feeding. They were only 13 months apart in age and both very active in Sports so they were always hungry.....LOL!
  20. I would like to get some opinions on how much sugar they use in making the water for Hummingbirds. When I make it I make it by the gallon and use 4 cups of sugar. What do ya'll do in making yours? Looking to make sure I am making mine sweet enough.....LOL
  21. Thank you Quavodus but I wouldn't say I was tough. I think having a wife and two bay boys depending on me was what drove me the most. I was hurt while at work so I was getting workmen's comp pay but it was hard for my wife to stretch that with two boys eating everything in site.....LOL. Between workers Comp and truck owners insurance all my medical bills were paid and I hired a lawyer to sue the guys insurance company and we won in the 1st court and they appealed and we won in the second court and they appealed again and I learned later before it ever got into the third and final court hat my lawyer without my permission filed a Non-suit and the case was dropped and my former lawyer became a corporate lawyer for the Aetna Insurance company which was the Insurance company we were fighting and beating in court. They bought my lawyer off and put him to work and all I got was a 15% permanent disability settlement from Workers Comp. I tried to hire another lawyer to sue Aetna and the lawyer I could not find a lawyer back then that would sue a fellow lawyer so I just lost 1.3 million because that is what the lawsuit was for and we were very close to winning. Life is what it is and I made sure my family was cared for and went back to work before I was released by the doctor but was close to losing a few things like house and car...LOL.
  22. I think most of the numbers depend on who your listening to at that time and moment. Every station you watch has different numbers. If you stop and think about it a few minutes of course the numbers will change each day depending on how many test results get reported that day but many of those test may be a couple weeks old and just now being added to the total. That goes for local numbers and nation wide numbers. Until they stop testing for a 30 day period nation wide and locally and give all the test results time to all get in is the only way the numbers could be accurate. Testing only keeps everyone not knowing the real total. Even then those numbers will not be true numbers because there are still millions of people that have not been tested. The daily numbers are what the politicians are concerned about so they know if they can begin to re open the country or a local area can reopen certain businesses. Those daily numbers are no more accurate then the monthly numbers because many of the tests being reported are probably at least a week or longer old and mixed with tests from a couple days ago. This entire operation from day one has been a cluster of not really knowing what to do about the problem and will be as long as the Virus exists with no treatment for it. I think both the Governor and Mayor of Nashville have both figured out that they are chasing their tails and have quit doing the daily reports because they really have no solution to fix the real problem. I think the 2 million dollars worth of tainted masks they were handing out was the final straw in their effort to give their daily reports to the public.....JMHO
  23. Well I have read a bunch of ailments here and I will be the first to say that getting old is part of life. I have been told that all my life. The part they left out was the aches and pains that came with the getting old part. I feel blessed every day when I wake up and am able to put my feet on the floor and stand up. Yea , it hurts like hell when I begin snapping all my joints back in shape so I can actually walk and use my arms but a doctor told me back in 1978 that I would go through that if I lived to be older. He was telling me that getting smashed between a pickup truck and a brick wall with the truck going about 30 MPH could not have been a pleasant thing I would like to do every day. I think he was trying to be a comedian and get a smile out of me. That did happen to me back in 1978 and after 5 major abdominal surgeries and numerous broken bones repaired and spleen removal among other things and over 400 x-rays I should glow in the dark I'm still here. I did spend from April 17th to December 15th in the hospital fighting infections. Since then I have undergone 4 more surgeries for hernias caused by my weak abdominal wall from the truck and being a mechanic 25 + years. In 1990 my last hernia repair was the end of my working career as the doctor had to rebuilt my inner abdominal wall with 30 square inches of Mylex mesh that is stitched into my body with stainless steel thread. I have had an abdominal aneurism repaired and under went open heart triple by pass surgery 2.5 years ago. The doctor that caught my case back in 1978 told me because I was a young man my recovery would be good until about age 50 and about that time I would begin feeling that truck. He was off by about 5 years. I really began feeling the effects of the truck at age 55 and it had gradually gotten worse. I have really felt many more effects since the open heart surgery. I never needed a cane to walk any long distances and now I do but I have come to terms with the fact that with all my body has been through and I am now 72 years old I have finally accepted the fact that I am better off than many others and I will not complain about the aches and pains but just be happy with what I still am able to do
  24. Back where I use to live at one time I had 2 feeders up and more birds than I had feeders for so I went and go 2 more and soon I had more birds than 4 feeders could serve so I went and bought 4 more for a total of 8 and that seemed to work. I can remember one day in particular, hot mid summer and I was gone fishing for three days and when I got back home the birds let me know right quick that something was wrong and the feeders were empty and I always keep a gallon of sugar in the fridge for emergencies and this was one so I went and got two feeders took the in the house and washed them and filled them and as I went back out and started for the patio to hang them on the house hooks I had birds on the feeders and eating while I was carrying them and after I hung them they continued to feed. That happened with all the feeders I filled and took back out and once I got inside I started making more sugar water and that evening I needed to fill them all again. At that time I had about 30-35 birds or more and they sure would put on a show just before night fall when they would come to feed up before going to roost. I miss my birds and hope I get a swarm of them here even though I know it might take a season or two. I'm going to have my daughter plant some vine type horn flowers along the base of my deck so they will grow up the deck and along the laddus to attract more birds next year.
  25. This is a new place for me to have feeders up and my daughter told me that she as lived here 18 years and not seen any but I think if you hang feeders they will come eventually and the other day I had one small male show up and he has decided to hang around and has been on the feeder everyday since the first test of the nectar. I figure where there is one there is more so I will start watching the feeders more to see if I get more.
