Note To Self, Roadrage, Motorcycles, and Following someone Home, is a No No
bersaguy replied to runco's topic in General Chat
I try to spend my whole day chilling TMF and for the most part it works as long as I don't leave the house. Once out in the world full of so many idiots chilling becomes much harder but I still make it out and back without shooting someone. I agree that people seem to not be as friendly as they once where. I remember the times when your driving down a country road and you waved at passing vehicles as a show of friendship even if you didn't know them just to let them know you saw them. Do that today and good chance you will receive a Bird for your troubles. I remember when every pickup truck sitting school parking lot had 12 gauge or rifle or both hanging up in rear window gun racks. For those of you to young to remember those days you can take my word for it. This use to be a great country and folks helped out other folks and every one was friendly. Well lets say everyone in the South and Southwest where friendly. Any of ya'll that didn't live in that time don't know what you missed but the ones that did do.............jmho -
I had a small incident at the Walmart here in Gallatin as I was walking up to the sporting goods section. As I turned the corner to enter it I was looking down the muzzle of 12 gauge shotgun. A guy and his kid were looking at the gun and he had it up to his shoulder and pointed out into the open isles. As I turned the corner he didn't raise it up and was still pointing it at me till I could touch the end of the barrel before he raised it. I said excuse me but he didn't move and let me pass but just stood there blocking the isle. I said excuse me again and he said whats your rush. I said no rush. He got an attitude and finally move over a little. He began to said something else and I looked at him and he decided best keep quiet. Smart move on his part but I did tell the guy behind the counter that if someone is going to look at a gun tell them they are not to point it anywhere but up at the ceiling on down at the floor cause I didn't appreciate having it pointed at me. I made sure the guy heard what I said..................jmho

Note To Self, Roadrage, Motorcycles, and Following someone Home, is a No No
bersaguy replied to runco's topic in General Chat
I can't see that as a defense since the guy had time to drive home after the accident, go into his house or garage or even get the guns out of his SUV and exit the garage to confront them on a public street when he was safe at home and could have just gone in his house out of any so called danger. I think the guy needs to spend a long time in the Gray Bar Motel with Big Bubba and learn some manners..................jmho -
Note To Self, Roadrage, Motorcycles, and Following someone Home, is a No No
bersaguy replied to runco's topic in General Chat
I can tell you one thing I have learned recently while driving on highways and even city streets. Everyone always seems to be in a hurry to get where ever they are going and drive like idiots that are late getting there. More and more rude people driving now than ever I think. I do my best to stay out of most of their way. I have noticed that while trying to pull out of side streets onto main highways and you look and a car or truck is pretty far off and seems safe to pull out. I have learned to look at least 2 or 3 times to check the speed of approaching vehicles. The speed limit maybe 35 but they will be doing 50 plus so you need to make sure they are not speeding before you pull out. I'm not sure what has happened to road manners but they sure don't happen much any more................jmho -

"you'll never stop it for the same reason why there will still be murders and other violence if you destroyed every weapon of every kind that currently exists and ban the creation of new ones...evil will find a way to do evil things". from Roberts post. Your right about this part for sure. Cain killed Able with a rock. There will always be evil in the world. The real goal is to address it as best possible and continue strive never to allow it to consume us and we live our lives. Be vigilant as possible and fix what can be fixed and on the more difficult issues even harder.................jmho

Well, just wait till some maniac walks into a MC'D and their is a bunch of soccer Moms in their with a bunch of kids and abd guy pulls out a gun to start shooting and some guy sitting back in the corner drops the bad guy like a bad habit because he is legally packing a 9MM Glock and stops the bad guys from killing a bunch of kids and Moms. Then we will see how the MDA Moms think about legal guns in Mickey D's...............jmho

No, you can keep the flat top pistons that should be in that engine. All you need to re-cam your motor is a set of valve cover gaskets, timing cover gaskets, intake gaskets and if it were me I would add a twin roller timing chain and gears. I think I would probably go with a Crane blazer 288 Camshaft. It is a great duration RV cam and will not need a stall converter but add plenty of zip. I am guessing you have a Quadra jet 4 barrel carburetor. Might want to step up if you do and put some 74 jets in it if you have the Quadra jet. Should give your 305 some serious pep but I would still do the Lock out manual hubs on front wheels and stop that differential from working when not needed. 4 inch lift and 33's should serve you well. Everything listed above does not require real deep pockets but won't be cheap either. Tires and wheels will cost you more that most all the rest of it combined. Have fun and take you time and if you do this enjoy the time working on the truck. I was an ASE certified Master Mechanic for 35 years and I loved working on cars and trucks until I was forced to quit due to health issues. I have built quit a few toys of my own over those years. The Blazer was my last one. Youngest son still drives it around on his farm when he goes deer hunting and he painted it all up in Camo.

As I mentioned in one of the post. I made my annual trip to my Cemetery and decorated my son and wife's graves and like I said it was 1990 for my son and 1997 for my wife and it's been a last couple rough days for me. Yea I am getting older and I see it being harder and harder to go each year both physically and mentally and in my heart it is not any easier. I am thankful for websites like this one to have someplace to express my life's strife's and know that some folks will understand since my old dog does her best to stay close by. It's really amazing how dogs can tell when their master is down in the dumps and blue about something. They seem to spend more time closer to you. Normally Kasey lays on her bed while in the house but since Sunday she has laid right beside me while I am on the computer and if I get up to move she moves with me. Last two nights instead of sleeping in her bed she slept laying on the floor beside the bed so Monday night I put a blanket down beside the bed for her. I know the blues will pass soon and I will get back to normal as normal is for me. Thanks for being here to read an old mans ramblings folks.

Cancer victim booted from Mortons for not removing his hat
bersaguy replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
Yea, Mortons has been back peddling since the incident and going to donate 2 grand to St Judes and also help the guy they insulted begin a Cancer fund drive. The way I look at it the damage has already been done and I doubt that it will be forgotten soon, but then there are those that won't care and continue trading with them regardless...................jmho -
Ramjo the girls may love them jacked up trucks until they have to get in and out and then they are not all that cool. Now with that said I understand that the 305 struggles on take off but you must also know that even though your transfer case is not locked in your still turning your front differential gears adding extra load to the motor performance. My first move if it were my truck would be a set of lock out manual hubs that will free up that front differential from turning all the time. That will surprise you how much more power that little 305 can provide and it won't break the bank to do. You can buy the kits with the hubs and the gear change that you make in transfer case which all can be done in less then 2 hours. The kit comes with all the instructions and it's easy to do................jmho

Had a similar incident back before cell phone but back when CB radios were a hot item and Police monitored channel 9. I was following a guy one night on my way home from work and he was all over 3 lanes of interstate. I followed him for about 4 miles when Metro responded to my channel 9 request. I told them the situation and they asked me where I was and I gave them location and told them I would follow him until they could intercept him. He got off the interstate at Broadway in Nashville and was headed towards a night club Classic Cat. Just about 2 blocks from there I got a call on CB. THP was right behind me and they would take it from there. Metro still had not responded but THP sure did. Before they got him stopped he pulled into Classic cat lot with THP right behind him with his lights on. I followed in to see what happened. The Trooper approached the guy and told him that he wanted him to stand right where he was. The guy almost fell over while standing still as Metro arrived. The Trooper told him he was under arrest and he yelled at the trooper, "You can't arrest me, do you know who I am"? The Trooper said no sir and I don't really care who you are but I do know your going to jail. He cuffed him and placed him in the Metro Squad car and told Metro he would be down to the station to file the arrest report. Then the Trooper walked over and shook my hand and said "well done sir" and smiled and I got in my truck and left. Would I have blocked her car in and prevented her from leaving? Count on it. She would not have moved that car with them two children in it anywhere...................jmho

Have you given any consideration to the fact that when you change the rear differential ratio you will also have to change the front also or transfer case will not match up gear ratio's. Been there and done that and learned the hard way on an old Blazer I had. I also had to go to manual lock out hubs from the full times like is on your truck. My Blazer was 83 K 5 model with 350 CID. Don't know if they made any changes between 83 and 85 that might alter what I had to do to mine. Might want to ask the folks were your looking at getting your rear gears.................jmho

There is no way to actually stop a would be shooter from trying to get in the school. I think from the posts above that is fact. I will post again what I posted on page 19 of this thread. You know you cannot stop them from coming but you damn sure can discourage it. Take away the Gun Free Zone from schools. Hire veterans and ex-military well trained personnel male and female to work in the schools in plain clothes and don't even make them known to any students. Remember it was a female MP that stopped the shooter at Fort Hood. Many military people have college degrees and could be counselors, Deans of Boys and Deans of Girls, Grounds keepers, some could be teachers, Office personnel, Secretary, Janitor and the list goes on. Then post a sign on every door that reads ARMED PERSONNEL on DUTY. You guess which ones they are? That right there takes away about 90% of any plans a person might have. Hey know right then that their chance of success drops tremendously. Then a buzz door would be required for anyone trying to enter after classes begin not allowing anyone in or out with out explaining their presence and reason for being there. Have 1 or 2 armed personnel ready to intercept the person if they make type of move rather than coming to directly to the office. Have cameras that watch the person from that door to the office. If they alter their course at all they are intercepted by the armed security people. Many of the ex military and Vets are unemployed. Put them to work protecting our greatest assets. Our Children. When other people run from gun fire Troops run towards it. Not because they hate what is in front of them but because they love what is behind them..............JMHO

Is spelling and punctuation a thing of the past?
bersaguy replied to Westwindmike's topic in General Chat
Back when I was in the 5th grade I had a teacher named Donald Bruce. He was very tough one to deal with when it came to penmanship. If he had any difficulty reading a book report you wrote you rewrote it over and over till he could read it with some ease. He said that the three most important studies you will use your entire life was reading, writing and arithmetic and man did he pound on them. Everyday 1 hour was spent just writing a copy of pages from our history books. By writing out of the history books we were taught history and good penmanship at the same time. I thought we would get a reprieve from him when we moved on to the 6th grade. Nope, the school moved him up one grade level upon his request and we all had him for a second year and it was the same type of teaching. By the time were left his class in the 6th grade we all had very good penmanship. Knew U.S. History and World History and all were very good in math. To this day I appreciate that mans efforts to educate his students on the important things we all would use all of our lives. I still to this day have good penmanship and when ever I write a check or sign a paper I get compliments on how nice my writing and penmanship and signature is. I also never get short changed when I buy something and wait on my change. I find it amusing when a person is operating a cash register that does not put a return change reading up for the cashier and they have this blank look on their face when trying to figure out how much change to give back. I normally end up telling them so they don't look stupid to other people in line. Older cashiers don't have that problem because they know how to count backwards when making change but young people don't. As far as education today. Many kids come out of school less smarter than when they went in. Many of them have forgotten the common sense things taught to them by their parents before beginning school....................jmho -
Why do liberals feel entitled to 2 votes each?
bersaguy replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That has not been a secret for a long time. They even interview people on the news that admitted they vote two or more times and one woman admitted to voting for Obama 6 times. They didn't do anything to her or any of the rest of them so it's not news worthy and has no dramatics just like Hozzie said.....................jmho -
My guess is that particular helicopter being in a hanger is probably not in service and may be in for repairs or maintenance is the only reason it is decorated. It is a cool Christmas decoration for sure................jmho

I am sure glad that resource officer was at that school the other day and reacted as he should have and it did possibly and most likely prevent more carnage than was already done. I think resource officers should be in every school and depending on the school size should depend on how many officers are in the school. I am still for making schools and all other gun free zones have that label removed. Take away all the shooters soft targets and you may discourage all this carnage. Remove all gun free zones and post signs in everyone of them stating "Armed personnel on site, You guess how many and who they are." I think that would end a lot of this, not all but a lot more than a gun free zone sign does. Now with that said, If our government really and honestly wanted to stop the killing of people in large numbers they could do so without even trying any type of gun control. First make it mandatory that all gun free zones public and private be removed. That would mean all legally armed trained civilians could be in any one of that at any given time. Then if they really wanted to protect our children in our schools, right now there are 1000's of trained retired and veteran young military personnel unemployed that the government could give grants to all school systems that would permit them to employ these well trained people to protect our children. Many of these people have degrees from colleges and they could be hired on as counselors, teachers, custodians and just plain clothed security. A trained soldier knows the sound of gunfire in any surrounding and could respond almost instantly to it. Soldiers won't run from gun fire but to it. I would be willing to bet that the children which our elected officials attend have armed security in every one of them private schools and I am betting it is paid by our tax dollars. Our Children in public schools deserve nothing less than their children do in the private schools............................jmho

I said another prayer for all the families of those that lost loved ones a year ago The loss of a child never goes away and yea it does ease slightly but never goes away. We move on with our lives with our lost loved ones still in our hearts. Today will be a trip to the cemetery to decorate my sons grave as I have done every year since 1990. The only thing that has changed is now I decorate my sons grave and my wife's grave also since 1997. Lost but never forgotten.

My Grandson is a Ranger based in Georgia. During a training exercise on a 7,000 foot night jump about 150 feet from touchdown a cross wind of over 70MPH caught his parachute and blew him against a building wall. Don't have all the particulars but he took a very hard lick against building and received multiple injuries. Sure could use some prayers for his recovery...........Thanking ya'll in advance bersaguy
