  1. Yea, Mortons has been back peddling since the incident and going to donate 2 grand to St Judes and also help the guy they insulted begin a Cancer fund drive. The way I look at it the damage has already been done and I doubt that it will be forgotten soon, but then there are those that won't care and continue trading with them regardless...................jmho
  2. Ramjo the girls may love them jacked up trucks until they have to get in and out and then they are not all that cool. Now with that said I understand that the 305 struggles on take off but you must also know that even though your transfer case is not locked in your still turning your front differential gears adding extra load to the motor performance. My first move if it were my truck would be a set of lock out manual hubs that will free up that front differential from turning all the time. That will surprise you how much more power that little 305 can provide and it won't break the bank to do. You can buy the kits with the hubs and the gear change that you make in transfer case which all can be done in less then 2 hours. The kit comes with all the instructions and it's easy to do................jmho
  3. Had a similar incident back before cell phone but back when CB radios were a hot item and Police monitored channel 9. I was following a guy one night on my way home from work and he was all over 3 lanes of interstate. I followed him for about 4 miles when Metro responded to my channel 9 request. I told them the situation and they asked me where I was and I gave them location and told them I would follow him until they could intercept him. He got off the interstate at Broadway in Nashville and was headed towards a night club Classic Cat. Just about 2 blocks from there I got a call on CB. THP was right behind me and they would take it from there. Metro still had not responded but THP sure did. Before they got him stopped he pulled into Classic cat lot with THP right behind him with his lights on. I followed in to see what happened. The Trooper approached the guy and told him that he wanted him to stand right where he was. The guy almost fell over while standing still as Metro arrived. The Trooper told him he was under arrest and he yelled at the trooper, "You can't arrest me, do you know who I am"? The Trooper said no sir and I don't really care who you are but I do know your going to jail. He cuffed him and placed him in the Metro Squad car and told Metro he would be down to the station to file the arrest report. Then the Trooper walked over and shook my hand and said "well done sir" and smiled and I got in my truck and left. Would I have blocked her car in and prevented her from leaving? Count on it. She would not have moved that car with them two children in it anywhere...................jmho
  4. Have you given any consideration to the fact that when you change the rear differential ratio you will also have to change the front also or transfer case will not match up gear ratio's. Been there and done that and learned the hard way on an old Blazer I had. I also had to go to manual lock out hubs from the full times like is on your truck. My Blazer was 83 K 5 model with 350 CID.  Don't know if they made any changes between 83 and 85 that might alter what I had to do to mine. Might want to ask the folks were your looking at getting your rear gears.................jmho
  5. There is no way to actually stop a would be shooter from trying to get in the school. I think from the posts above that is fact. I will post again what I posted on page 19 of this thread. You know you cannot stop them from coming but you damn sure can discourage it. Take away the Gun Free Zone from schools. Hire veterans and  ex-military well trained personnel male and female to work in the schools in plain clothes and don't even make them known to any students. Remember it was a female MP that stopped the shooter at Fort Hood. Many military people have college degrees and could be counselors, Deans of Boys and Deans of Girls, Grounds keepers, some could be teachers, Office personnel, Secretary, Janitor and the list goes on. Then post a sign on every door that reads ARMED PERSONNEL on DUTY. You guess which ones they are? That right there takes away about 90% of any plans a person might have. Hey know right then that their chance of success drops tremendously. Then a buzz door would be required for anyone trying to enter after classes begin not allowing anyone in or out with out explaining their presence and reason for being there. Have 1 or 2 armed personnel ready to intercept the person if they make type of move rather than coming to directly to the office. Have cameras that watch the person from that door to the office. If they alter their course at all they are intercepted by the armed security people. Many of the ex military and Vets are unemployed. Put them to work protecting our greatest assets. Our Children. When other people run from gun fire Troops run towards it. Not because they hate what is in front of them but because they love what is behind them..............JMHO
  6. Back when I was in the 5th grade I had a teacher named Donald Bruce. He was very tough one to deal with when it came to penmanship. If he had any difficulty reading a book report you wrote you rewrote it over and over till he could read it with some ease. He said that the three most important studies you will use your entire life was reading, writing and arithmetic and man did he pound on them.     Everyday 1 hour was spent just writing a copy of pages from our history books. By writing out of the history books we were taught history and good penmanship at the same time. I thought we would get a reprieve from him when we moved on to the 6th grade. Nope, the school moved him up one grade level upon his request and we all had him for a second year and it was the same type of teaching. By the time were left his class in the 6th grade we all had very good penmanship. Knew U.S. History and World History and all were very good in math. To this day I appreciate that mans efforts to educate his students on the important things we all would use all of our lives. I still to this day have good penmanship and when ever I write a check or sign a paper I get compliments on how nice my writing and penmanship and signature is. I also never get short changed when I buy something and wait on my change. I find it amusing when a person is operating a cash register that does not put a return change reading up for the cashier and they have this blank look on their face when trying to figure out how much change to give back. I normally end up telling them so they don't look stupid to other people in line. Older cashiers don't have that problem because they know how to count backwards when making change but young people don't.   As far as education today. Many kids come out of school less smarter than when they went in. Many of them have forgotten the common sense things taught to them by their parents before beginning school....................jmho
  7. That has not been a secret for a long time. They even interview people on the news that admitted they vote two or more times and one woman admitted to voting for Obama 6 times. They didn't do anything to her or any of the rest of them so it's not news worthy and has no dramatics just like Hozzie said.....................jmho
  8. My guess is that particular helicopter being in a hanger is probably not in service and may be in for repairs or maintenance is the only reason it is decorated. It is a cool Christmas decoration for sure................jmho
  9. Well they say is runs n 3's in Hollywood and I heard last night on news That Tom had died, Peter OToole died and I cannot remember her name but another female Actress also died. I remember the movies of Billy Jack and enjoyed them all. I can remember Peter O'Toole in Lawrence Of Arabia back when I was about 8 years old. Great movie..............jmho
  10. I am sure glad that resource officer was at that school the other day and reacted as he should have and it did possibly and most likely prevent more carnage than was already done. I think resource officers should be in every school and depending on the school size should depend on how many officers are in the school. I am still for making schools and all other gun free zones have that label removed. Take away all the shooters soft targets and you may discourage all this carnage. Remove all gun free zones and post signs in everyone of them stating "Armed personnel on site, You guess how many and who they are."  I think that would end a lot of this, not all but a lot more than a gun free zone sign does. Now with that said,  If our government really and honestly wanted to stop the killing of people in large numbers they could do so without even trying any type of gun control. First make it mandatory that all gun free zones public and private be removed. That would mean all legally armed trained civilians could be in any one of that at any given time. Then if they really wanted to protect our children in our schools, right now there are 1000's of trained retired and veteran young military personnel unemployed that the government could give grants to all school systems that would permit them to employ these well trained people to protect our children. Many of these people have degrees from colleges and they could be hired on as counselors, teachers, custodians and just plain clothed security. A trained soldier knows the sound of gunfire in any surrounding and could respond almost instantly to it. Soldiers won't run from gun fire but to it. I would be willing to bet that the children which our elected officials attend have armed security in every one of them private schools and I am betting it is paid by our tax dollars. Our Children in public schools deserve nothing less than their children do in the private schools............................jmho
  11. Showoff..................ROFLMAO Hope them two new girls are starting to let you sleep at night!!!!! When they do you will start hitting the center more......LOL
  12. I am also a Christian and know the real reason for the season and these are nice folks for helping out this time of year........jmho
  13. I said another prayer for all the families of those that lost loved ones a year ago The loss of a child never goes away and yea it does ease slightly but never goes away. We move on with our lives with our lost loved ones still in our hearts. Today will be a trip to the cemetery to decorate my sons grave as I have done every year since 1990. The only thing that has changed is now I decorate my sons grave and my wife's grave also since 1997. Lost but never forgotten.
  14. My Grandson is a Ranger based in Georgia. During a training exercise on a 7,000 foot night jump about 150 feet from touchdown a cross wind of over 70MPH caught his parachute and blew him against a building wall. Don't have all the particulars but he took a very hard lick against building and received multiple injuries. Sure could use some prayers for his recovery...........Thanking ya'll in advance  bersaguy
  15. For the 18 years I was in the hand pour bait business I always shipped priority mail w/ tracking. I had pretty much learned how much it would cost to ship a package just by it's weight which I had a set of postal scales. I had a customer in Piedmont SC I shipped to regularly so has his costs down to a science. Well, last week I had to ship him a package. Weighed it on the postal scales in priority mail box as usual and calculated what it would cost. Should have cost about $13.50. When Connie at the post office put it on her scale and typed in zip code it came up $20.89. I asked her to retype it again and she did without question and it came out the same. I paid t and moved on. Postal prices have gone up almost 78% in last two months. They are talking about raising stamps for envelope postage to .$50 Cents and they wonder why the internet emails are being used more and more. Heck you can send Christmas cards from Hall Mark Card site now in emails. I will be avoiding post office a lot now since I sold my business 3 weeks ago.............jmho
  16. I think Walmart has finally got into the price gouging game also. That same ammo was $13.97 at Walmart before the crunch and they know folks are wanting any 22 caliber ammo that hits the shelves...............jmho      Glad at the present time I don't need any and won't need any for sometime to come.
  17. Smart kid for sure........................
  18. The only encounters I have had with LEO's since obtaining my HCP have all be positive with young and older officers. About all of them are seat belt related issues because I don't use the shoulder harness part of the belt so they think I don't have my seat belt on. When they approach my Jeep they are always professional and ask for DL and always offer my HCP also so not to alarm them when they run my tags and DL. I also do open my door and show them that I do have my lap belt fastened. A few have asked why I altered my seat belt system and I hand them the letter from my doctor and a few read it and others just ask and I reply. I have yet to have one give me a ticket because of it or be unprofessional. I guess some of it might be that I also have handicap license plates because I am considered 100% disabled. Basically I think in an overall rating the ratio of good cop bad cop is probably 90% good 5 % not so good and 5% real bone heads..........................jmho
  19. I have serious doubt tha we will get either of them done away with in the present administration because 1) the Democrats need the welfare vote to win anything and 2) this administrations has been the most invasive and non transparent administration in the history of Federal Government so they have no intentions of fixing anything that they benefit from so much....................jmho
  20. In all honesty the statement regarding a Catch and Release society I honestly believe that the judicial system hopes that more incidents like the one posted here takes place as more and more people have become armed and prepared to defend themselves. Stop and think about it for just a minute. Two bad guys down. One dead and the other going to jail and all done by a civilian with a legal carry permit  and no police. Now that more and more people are going through courses and learning more how to defend themselves such as most all folks here, we are actually helping the police do their jobs. I think the police are finally figuring out that the more legally arms citizens that are out there and willing to actually defend themselves makes the police mans work a lot easier. Less danger for them and just more paper work. When seconds count the cops are only minutes away!! Also glad the Victim in this case was also a good shot and was able to hit the guy while he was in the van ................jmho
  21. I would like to thank everyone for participating in this as it has been informative in many levels but I think most everyone can agree on one thing. GUN FREE ZONES should be labeled as MASS KILLING ZONES and not GUN FREE ZONES. I can only hope that sometime someone in Government with enough authority is going to step up to the plate and remove all gun free zones and realize that it will help put an end to the slaughter houses because the future shooters will know when they enter that they will be entering an area that will strongly limit their possibility of success in their plans..............jmho
  22. The way I see it Ted, the only connection is the school. Beyond that there are no connections but the News medias need to try and make the story bigger than it really is so they try to connect the dots with dots that don't exist in this incident. This was a single target issue and not a mass shooting situation..............I just wish when the shooter found out the teacher had fled he would not have shot anyone and just fled also. Has anyone heard about the condition of the young girl that was shot? I'm still praying for her and her family.
  23. I can respect Beretta's move to remain in Maryland but it is to keep their employees working and not to help Maryland. They are thinking of their employees and I can respect that. At least any expansions they have planned will not benefit Maryland and will provide new jobs in new states. If Maryland does anything else that may put in jeopardy their operation I am sure Beretta will make necessary changes accordingly.....jmho
  24. This link was borrowed from another Gun Site and I think it is a very interesting and informative read.   http://www.nationalreview.com/article/366226/gun-control-dishonesty-charles-c-w-cooke#comments
  25. That might depend on which shower we are talking about but I would be willing to bet there are a few locked in lockers in both those shower areas.
