  1. Back years ago I worked in the penal system and a correctional officer. I remember when going to prison meant while you were there doing your time you worked at some type of job. You didn't lay in your air conditioned cell and watch cable TV. You got up and fed by 7AM and then you reported to your respective work assignment. Prisons for the most part were self sustaining requiring a lot less taxpayer dollars to sustain them. They grew about 90% of their own food on prison farms. They operated their own dairy farms to produce all their dairy needs. They operated coal fed power houses that produced their own power. They had textile mills in prisons that produced all the linens, blankets and towels needed to operate the prisons. They had a bakery that made all their own bread for their meals from grains grown on the farms and meal and flour was made by inmates operating mills to make it. Back in the late 70's the Supreme Court declared that inmates could no longer be made to work as just being in prison was their punishment. Now everything is delivered to the prisons from out side businesses and it is all paid for with taxpayer dollars. Even electricity is supplied from out side sources. The farms were all closed, Textile mills shut down and power houses sent dormant. Hell, they have made life so nice for the criminals that many of them look forward to going back because life is better inside than out side and if an inmate does work in prison now they are paid for their labor................jmho
  2. Gosh I have never hunted squirrel with anything except a 22 rifle. Grew up using one and until I quit hunting back years ago I was still using one. Use to make both my boys mad but it was funny for first couple trips and then they didn't think it was funny any more and they refused to go with me if they we going squirrel hunting. One of the used a 12 gauge and the other a 20 gauge. We would get in the woods and spread out. I would just sit down by a big tree where I could see both of them. When I would see one get up and begin to stalk a squirrel I would locate the critter and just before he would shoot it I would shoot it and it would fall near him. He would just turn and if looks could kill I would have been dead about 30 times we hunted together. They refused to hunt squirrels with me once the leaves got off the trees but it was fun. My eye sight effected me as I got older plus I was not as steady as when I was younger so rather than have to go the shotgun route I just quit hunting them......................
  3. I know several guys that killed a full limit of what they were allowed to harvest with no problems. Then I know a few other guys I spoke with that said they lost their land that they had hunted for years do to new construction and rezoning laws making it illegal to hunt those areas. Also I know several guys that hunted farms for years that lost their hunting locations because the farmers leased the land out to hunting clubs and closed the land to anyone not in the clubs. More and more larger farms have began leasing hunting privileges and making big bucks by leasing it. So actually I think the loss of areas for folks to hunt have had an impact on how many deer are taken. Also one other factor I have learned is there are less deer processors out there than there was say 4 years ago.  I know four guys that use to process deer and had done it for years. Because of costs of materials needed to process deer such as wrapping paper and cost of operation of coolers and freezers driving up the cost folks just quite paying the higher prices to get the deer processed. The shortage of processors makes it a deterrent for a hunter to go out and harvest a deer knowing they have to pay 65.00 to 75.00 dollars to get one processed. I think more and more deer hunters are doing their own and realizing how much work is involved ad how much it costs is also causing the lower harvests. I know my buddy that has limited out this year along with his wife limiting out said that he takes all his deer to the Mi-nites(spelling) and they process them for him but he shares a lot of the meat with them along with paying them. Most of his deer goes into deer jerky, deer burger and they make a killer deer summer sausage which he shares a few sticks of the sausage with me each year. Over all I think like I said above. There are several reasons for lower harvesting numbers...................jmho
  4. I have what I would say is a good supply of 22lr ammo and I totally refuse to buy from scalpers so I don't plink as much as I use to but I will shoot a little at the range with my pistols about once a month and what I shoot I can normally replace in real stores and not scalpers. I hope the day comes when all the scalpers get stuck sitting on car loads or 22lr's and almost have to give them away to get rid of them and in the end lose all the profits they made gorging people who bought from them............jmho
  5. Well after reading all the posts I will add my :2cents:  and make it short and sweet.  I would vote for a Carson/West ticket or a West/Carson Ticket. Either way one thing has to take place. This time they must at all costs make 100% sure that all of the entire Military gets to vote this time as their votes were not counted in last election and Obama made sure of that. He made sure that all the Troops out of country did not get their absentee ballots in time to get them counted because had they got counted he would have lost and he knew it. The troops hate him. On the other hand all of the Troops Love West and all have the utmost respect for the man as I do. If he is on the ticket either for President or Vice President that ticket will get the military vote and my vote.....................jmho
  6. Magpul went to or are going to go to Texas last I heard. I guess that is still their plans?
  7. I guess I am a good boyscout. I stay prepared. have a refrigerator in house and another in carport with padlocks on it Plus freezer in out building also with pad locks. Jeep is full of gas plus have 25 gallons stored. 3 Grill tanks and a Propane heater is power goes out. I have back up batteries for everything. I have propane lanterns with a dozen back up bottles for both of them plus extra mantles. I have Coleman cook stove for power outages and an old style coffee pot that perks on Coleman if need be. Have a great stock of food for SHTF conditions and have back up eggs and milk in carport refer. Did go out and walk Kasey around yard this morning. She did her business while I about froze and she wanted to stay out and I made her come back in.  So all in all I guess being a good boyscout works out ok..........................jmho
  8. Well, if the United Nations and the United States would keep their noses out of other peoples business Afghanistan would have belonged to the Russians back in the 70's and they could have been the ones dealing with that rock of stone age savages but No, Our Government has to stick their nose where it does not belong and they send arms and ammo and even sent in advisers on how to use the weapons most effectively so they can defeat the Russians and drive them out. Osama Bin Laden was one the the leaders of the guerrillas fighting against the Russians and was one of the ones trained on how to win it. he sent us his thanks twice. Once in 1993 in the World Trade center bombing and then the 2nd thank you message on 9/11/2001. That is how they appreciate help sent to them. All of those sand and stone countries are still living in the stone age and are a total waste of good air they breath. I would not have 1 issue with sending them a reply of about 25 nicely strategically  placed nukes to say thanks for 9/11/2001..........jmho
  9. Gosh I struggle to keep my squirrels and birds fed but I make sure they have food in feeders all winter. Filled all of them last evening before the cold nasty weather showed up and they we all on the feeders this morning and I have enjoyed just watching them feed. That is the most deer in have seen in one location in many years. Must be a no hunting area and judging from the house off in the distance looks like may be a money area and home owners are not hunters and won't allow it. I bet they have a problem keeping shrubs around their homes and I bet you can forget having a garden............jmho
  10. We at the soopermexy blog tried to raise the millions of dollars it would take to run our 3 minute commercial during the Super Bowl, and we did manage to raise quite a sum. But we just ordered a bunch a tacos with it. Sorry. Anyway! Here’s the commercial: http://www.soopermexican.com/2013/02/07/the-superbowl-commercial-you-missed-so-god-made-a-liberal/
  11. Crow Facts   Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts.   However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car.   MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.   He very quickly concluded the cause: When crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. They discovered that while all the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one could shout "Truck."
  12. I realize that what they did in Colorado didn't get the laws changed but they got rid of the law makers and at least that may get the liberals thinking and realizing that it will be harder to get elected in that state now and get other state liberals a message that is they do anything that stupid they might or could get recalled or fired by We the People so if they get elected and want to keep their jobs they will steer clear of gun laws. I figure you have to begin somewhere and they began in Colorado............jmho
  13. When the state of Colorado's elected officials over stepped their authority and wrote laws that were deemed unconstitutional the people of Colorado  took a non violent legal stance through the proper channels and recalled those law makers and removed them. That is what should have been done in CT but instead they bowed down to them and kiss their elected butts..................jmho
  14. Why do I have a feeling he did not vote for Obama?.......................jmho
  15. I have a feeling that folks seeing all those stupid people standing in line may have made many more folks all the more determined to not be that stupid. I know it showed me just how stupid some people can be and I will never be standing in a gun line unless it would be to buy another one..................jmho
  16. They had to take my neighbor to hospital by ambulance the other night. They thought he was having a heart attack but it turned out to be the flu. He is still in hospital and his family have been at his house cleaning everything in it and using Lysol spray on everything for when he comes home. The last two trips to my doctor last two years she has been out of the flu shots so I had her write me prescriptions for some strong antibiotics and I take one a day just like a vitamin to boost my immune system. So far it has worked. I guess I could go to Walgreens or Krogers and get a shot since they both offer them in their Pharmacies. Hope yall make it through it ok cause from what I hear it is some really nasty stuff................jmho
  17. Well, I have never heard any laws or rules on registering any guns carry or not carrying in Tennessee. I could have shot 100% very easily when I was shooting in the class to get my HCP but I placed 1 round outside and shot 98%. I also heard about the shooting expert to get your carry permit so I shot 98% and place 1 Lawyers bullet outside the profile. That way no DA can challenge my shooting as expert and it gives my lawyer that defense. GOD knows I hope it is never needed..........................jmho
  18. LOL. I don't think PETA has anyone brave enough to want to go into the swamps and bayou's of Louisiana and confront guys with long beards and shotguns about poor innocent ducks.................
  19. i think passing it on to someone that may need it would be a good thing and like R_Bert said. If you are able add a few bucks to it when you pass it on. Humanity is still alive and well in America.................jmho
  20. yep, hunted the Delta a few times back years ago and rabbits were everywhere and much larger than average cotton tails around here. Folks down there called them Swamp Rabbits and once they did jump they would out run the beagles really fast. The guy I hunted with didn't use typical Beagles. He used a larger dog called  Fox hounds which had longer legs but looks almost like a beagle. Had a great few hunts down there back in my younger days.
  21. He is building his Legacy and wants to be known as the worst President in the history of this country and the Republican Congress is helping him is why he is still in office.  I can only hope we can make all of his dreams come true in that Legacy in 2014 elections and make sure he is the only President to go to prison where he will have plenty of time to write his life's story...............jmho    Yea, I know  I am dreaming but I don't think he has written an EO yet that outlaws dreams?.................... :ugh: :ugh:
  22.   I have to know because by your reply you sound like an authority on how Fox tastes. Does that mean your talking from experience?......................
  23. I see so many flaws and holes in that you could not strain boiled potatoes through it. All it is going to do is stop people that really need help from seeking the help. Also most mental hospitals will probably not comply with it or will with hold a lot of information that they feel is an invasion of patient / doctor confidentiality. Also, don't we already have background laws on the books? Every time I buy a gun at a gun shop or Gun Show they run one on me.  Also I can't help but wonder why they thought they had to add that last part about Gun Trafficking being a Federal Offense. I thought is was already a  Federal Felony Offense and if that is true why has Eric Holder not been charged with it and already in the Graybar Hotel with big Bubba?  ..................jmho
  24. In all honesty I wonder how many liberals are in those lines in CT that are registering their firearms. I'm guessing not as many as there is conservatives. I find liberals like the approach of               "Do as I say and not as I do."  a lot more than the other way around..............jmho
  25. Bread is about the best thing I have found to remove the hot sting of very hot peppers. Plain old white bread is best but most any loaf bread will do. back several years ago I use to have a garden and I grew some Habanaro's and cyannes(spellings) for a buddy of mine that likes to put it in his chili and Jambalaya when he makes it and he makes some killer in both. He makes me some but pulls mine before he adds those and just has the chili peppers in mine. I use to love the real hot stuff but can't eat stuff that hot any longer. If my health will permit it this year I think I will put in another small garden this year. Give me something to do to full some down time plus have a bunch of friends that I could grow food for that don't have the time to grow their own. My Pepper buddy always paid to have a guy come with a tractor to turn the ground in early Spring and I grew all the food and bought the plants and seeds. I hope my health will allow it....................jmho
