Great post Red. I'm sure you are very correct about our oh so famous Hollywood group of sissies and wimps that play a good soldier on the make believe screen that makes them wealthy but to actually put their careers on hold to serve their country.........Sorry but that will never happen. By the way he was not an actor but was from a very wealthy family but still serve his country of his own choice and that was John Fitzgerald Kennedy. U.S Navy P.T. Boat captain that after having his boat cut in half by Japanese destroyer managed to save most all of his crew. I know he was not an actor but later became President.

Ya know that is something we might need to look at doing this summer. Having a TGO cook out with families. We would have plenty of time to to plan one since I don't see winter leaving tomorrow. Only real issue I see is finding a gun friendly location out doors with enough room to hold one but surely we could find some place. Maybe someone has a farm that is a member here that would be centrally located so no one has to drive to far to get there!!!! Would be kinda nice to be able to put some faces with names............jmho

Well, I will give you just a little insight on the older cars that probably a few already know. Back in 1989 the EPA sent some of their( so called) smart people to Nashville to see how we were doing with our new emissions tests and going around to different repair locations to see how many had purchased 2 gas and 3 gas analyzers to set emissions on cars prior to testing at one of their centers. The boss sent them out to talk with me on purpose because he knew how much I hated EPA and their programs. They were doing all this bragging about how all of the new emissions products being place on the new cars was cutting down on air pollution and I told them they where so full of crap that their eyes were brown and I could prove it. They challenged me on proving it. Big mistake. At the time I was driving my 1956 Chevy to work. It had a 327/ 375 Fueler with twin 650 dual pumpers on it. Hooker headers, Iskindiarian Roller cam pre-advanced 4 degrees and twin roller Timing chain and 11.1 compression pistons with 3 angle cut valves and adjustable roller rockers. Hot rodders will understand all of that but anyway a really fast car. I asked them what they were driving and they had rented a 1989 Lincoln at the airport. I told them my 56 chevy would burn cleaner and provide less emissions then their 1989 Lincoln. They bet me lunch it wouldn't and I said lunch for every at the shop verses all 4 of them. They took the bet and we both headed to their testing center in Melrose about 8 miles from the shop. I pulled in one side and their driver pulled in the other and both cars got tested. When we got back to the shop we all including my boss looked at the test sheets. The Lincolns readings were with in range with CO at 1.3 and HC at 2.6. Then they looked at my reading on my 56.. CO .01 and HC .076. They could not believe it and they asked me how I did that. I explained to them that when the EPA put lower compression restrictions on the engines they automatically raise the carbon emissions. If they really wanted to fix the problem all they had to do was tell the auto companies to raise the compression ratio of their engines that was 9 and they moved it back to 8 to meet the new EPA requirements. They should have went up to 10.1 to1 but went the wrong way. Needless to say they bought Wendys for 11 people at the shop and left. Oh yea about 2009 the compression on most all car and truck engines did go to 10.1.1 to assist in emissions control. If any of you ever get the opportunity to get near a NASCAR race car or dragster while it is setting idling put your hand down near the opening of the exhaust pipes and you will be surprised. You will feel cold air coming out of the exhaust. Cold air means all of or at least 99% of the fuel is being burned in the combustion and no wasted fuel (emissions) is coming from the exhaust. If it is hot air the engine is not going to perform as it should because the power the engine gets is from maximum burn with in the combustion chambers of the engine. Sorry for the long post...... :ugh: :ugh:

The person who calculated this bit of information is now, and has been a professor at the University of West Virginia in Morgantown for the last forty some years. He says that: A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year. A new vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons of gas a year. So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction reduced gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year. The government claims 700,000 clunkers were replaced so that is 224 million gallons saved per year. That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil. 5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption. More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $90 per barrel costs about $450 million dollars.

I heard about it back when I was much younger but cannot remember exactly when but I think it was while I was in high school that a teacher brought up how faster technology was moving. I bet that teacher never realized just how fast it was moving and if I recall it was in Science class. http://www.lordsprayerpin.com/history/

I guess what most folks have or have not thought about this but for as far back as I can remember and that is about 55 years just about every household in the country that owned a gun had at least one 22 caliber gun in it. Be it a pistol or a rifle there was a 22 caliber in that house. Several houses had several with a few pistols and a few different rifle configurations from single shots to semi auto's. That is the main reason that 22 ammo seems to fly off the shelves faster than most other calibers. That is the only explanation I can come up with but how many folks here can say they don't own at least one 22 caliper gun of some kind in their home?....................jmho

Well, I know back many years ago long before the technology we have today a guy was able to put the entire Lords Prayer on the point of a needle and when it was printed and looked at under a microscope and magnified 40,000 times you could actually read the entire Lords prayer on it so why with the new technology could they not micro stamp a firing pin many many times larger the the point of a needle?...................jmho

Supreme Court hears possible straw purchase case
bersaguy replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just another case of them trying to cover their azzes om Fast and Furious. The Feds wire all allowing straw buyers to get away in that case and did nothing. Now let 1 guy do something totally legal and they come down on him like a ton of bricks...."That's the Federal way"............jmho -

Ya'll keep talking about Crappie until I am going to have to go out to my freezer and get a couple bags of filets out and cookum up. I guess I have about 35 or 40 quart bags of Crappie filets out in my freezer. Deep fried Crappie, homemade hush puppies and home fries with onions does sound pretty good right now...................

I'm sure glad I was smart enough back in 08 to see this coming and stocked up enough of every caliber gun I own before the clasp of the ammo production. I still buy a box of 22WMR when I see some at a descent price but other than that I am pretty well set and don't really need any of that but will impulse buy if price is near affordable. I sure hate the way the LGS's are doing folks for sure. You can bet in many cases it is going to come back and bite them in the arse when this is all over. They will have to depend on the few special people to took care of to remain in business..............jmho

Police Chief Accidentally Shoots Himself....Again!
bersaguy replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
I have read a few similar issues pertaining to Glocks. I had a buddy suffer a similar incident with his Glock. He had it holstered in a very old and stretched leather holster and while getting in his car a part of the holster was lodged between the trigger and the holster and his Glock discharged shooting him with just a graze to his hip area and bullet passed through the car seat and floor board and into the asphalt in his driveway. Needless to say he bought a new holster shortly after that and I think he even traded the Glock for a gun with a manual safety on it. Think there was even an article about it on a gun site but cannot remember which one it was he posted it in. -
Man it's been a long time since I say vinyl 45 turning. Brings back a lot of good memories.................

I have had that happen a few times and I contacted the seller and I learned that when that happens it is because they have other dealers that handle the same stuff that is almost next door to you and they drop ship it from that location but you still pay the full shipping price. Great big rip off but that is the way of the world these days. Back when i had my bait business for about 14 years I sent everything by priority mail with tracking. The last couple years I began shopping shippers to find out who was cheaper or that week because all the shippers were using flexible pricing and going up and down with fuel prices. In the last two months before I sold my business I made an order of baits for an angler in Piedmont, SC. I weighed the package on a set of postal scales and when I got to post office I shipped it priority mail and package weigh 3.11 lbs and it cost $9.96. The same guy made another order a week later and I went through the same procedure and package weighed 3.09 lbs and it was $13.70 to same exact and less weight. They charge what ever they want to on any given day and like I said, That is the way of the world these days. Glad I am out of the business and don't have to deal with them any more..................jmho

I truly don't think they are breaking in to steal the guns to sell. I still think it is gangs that are arming themselves better. It's just happening to often for the guns to be sold. They are taking them for another purpose. Thing is there has not been any mention of ammo being taken. Just guns I wonder how much ammo may also be taken since in most cases ammo is about as hard to come up with as guns are in many cases and unless they plan on using them for clubs ammo would be needed..............jmho

Does anyone here watch the Military Channel here?
bersaguy replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
last night they ahd a great story about the Apache Attack Helicopters and it covered everything from the first ones to the ones they use today and they showed a new chopper coming out soon that travels at 280 MPH and can actually fly backwards. It was awesome to watch it. Still in the prototype program but military already wants it........ -
There have been far to many break in's of gun stores recently for it to just be a coincidence. I'm guessing they might be gang related and that the gangs are getting armed better. I doubt you will see very many of these guns show up for sale. I agree that it was a nice thing to help get the information out here on the site...................jmho I also agree that is you do not have a very secure building with top of the line security system with very good video surveillance on site then the hand guns should be put in a safe....................jmho

I have been watching the military channel for last couple weeks since Comcast up graded my channel listings for a year for free and it's a very interesting informative channel. Watched it last night and they were showing many of the new weapons available to the military. Man things have sure come a long ways since I was in for sure..........jmho

That is an Autozone brand battery I think and I have heard descent reviews on them but never owned one. I use Deka batteries in my Jeep and Stowaway batteries in my boat and have had great luck with both. Maybe someone else will be able to provide more info on the Duralast Professional Series soon.

I am also looking forward to Spring this year. i operated a Hand Soft Plastic Bait business for past 15 + years and it really took a lot of time away from my fishing time. I sold the business about two months ago and I am looking at doing some serious bass fishing this year. In past two years in think my Skeeter has only been in the water about 10 times. I am planning on that not happening this year. For any of ya'll that fish bass tournaments my son in law is operating two different trails this year for Heartland Anglers which is probably the ultimate in partner tournament trails with a huge Classic in October each year with a Ranger Bass boat as first place prize. If anyone is interested in learning more about his tournament schedules I will be more than glad to send you the information or you can visit Heartland's website and see more about the many different trails they have in Tennessee. Son in law will be holding events on J. Percy Priest lake and Old Hickory lake. His two divisions are # 8 and # 14 in Tennessee. You will meet a lot of great folks at these events. if you have any questions you can PM me here.
