  1.   If I look at it with your point of view it makes sense about the spring getting shorter and it could have been a cost related issue for the  gun company plus my thought also is back when that particular shotgun mentioned was manufactured was it a common practice to load and leave a gun loaded for extremely long periods of time. That seems to me to have been something that is a more modern Idea than it was 20+ years ago. We always had guns in my home growing up but seldom Pump guns or Automatics. Mostly single and double barrels and they stayed loaded..................jmho
  2.   Yea, it was something that was mentioned during boot camp but was never a requirement on the range in boot but it stuck with me and I did it with every new magazine. In boot is was called priming your magazine for action.
  3. Well after reading the article I think there is one major issue that must be handled imediately. I think the police officer should be required to go have his eyes tested. He could not tell the difference between a cane and a gun and he fire 3 or 4 shots and only hit the target 1 time. I am assuming it was a regular normal traffic stop putting the police car with in 20 feet of the stopped vehicle. That is not a very good batting average on judgement or shooting. In this case I am glad the officer was a bad shot because at least the man has a chance to pull through and a chance to sue for being shot over his walking cane..........................jmho
  4. Sounds like Coyote had a death wish and it got filled...............Sorry about the car damage but glad you were not hurt and it was not more serious...
  5. Since we are on the subject of magazines I know there are a number of folks that served in Nam and other theaters of war both then and even now. Back when I was in Nam we always smacked our loaded magazines against our helmets before reloading into the gun to prime the magazine. How many guys still do that today while at the range regardless of what Semi Auto your shooting. I know your not wearing helmets but I will tap mine on the gun rest plate in front of me to prime the magazine before putting it in the gun. If shooting out doors I will bang it on heal of my boot. It is a habit I got into and I am just curious how many folks still do that today with their magazines? That may answer one of the questions being raise here. Do folks here think magazines that have been loaded for a long period of time may just need to be primed before loading in gun?...........just curious
  6. Thanks Dusty and I forgot to also mention that she cannot visit me at my home and I am her grandfather. She cannot go to visit her mother and father at their home, She can't even visit her two brothers at their homes because she is on probation and every home I listed has firearms in them. We are not even sure she will be able to visit after her probation unless we want to remove all the guns from our homes while she is there. Makes it hard to help someone you almost cannot get near for the most part. We are looking into it to see if the guns are lock in safes if she would be able to come visit but have not heard from attorney or Probation officer yet..................
  7.   I can assure , she was raise in a home that has high morals and she was an honor roll student all of her years in school. She dated many very nice respectable young men and because she is a beautiful young lady she could have had her choice of a lot good upstanding young men. When her mother saw her heading down a wrong path she tried many times to talk to her about some of the nice young men she dated. The only excise she gave her mother for not wanting to choose one of them was they were boring and she liked men that were exciting. Well I guess she is now learning just what exciting can do for her future. We as a family are going to take the steps necessary to protect her and her baby and when he decides that the paper means nothing to him and he will do as he pleases that may end up being the biggest mistake of his life because then he will deal with family which may be detrimental to his health and physical well being...............jmho
  8. Tom Selleck is a great actor and I watch all of the Jesse Stone movies and yes he is getting acting jobs but he is also in high demand for his style of acting. I would not even watch Blue Bloods if he was not in it. There are a few Pro gun actors getting work but there are many more that are not..........jmho
  9. Clear case of self defense and the right to use lethal force because the officer did fear for his life.  Justifiable 100%..................jmho
  10. They could cut about 90% of the pork fat out of the ACA program and they would not have to cut any thing in military. I have my own opinion on this but without a strong Military to protect our great nation what good is the ACA program with no Country?......................jmho
  11. Yep, I would have been as quiet as a church mouse about it and may have sold one or two of them to a private collector on case of anonymity and moved to Alaska and lived a very comfortable and quiet worry free life. That or moved to Big Sky Montana and lived pretty much same life style. I have always wanted to live in both or either one of those places. I would have told that collector that as long as he kept his mouth shut I would continue to do business with him and he would have an exclusive on any coins I might decide to sell from time to time. That would assure me an income and him an opportunity to be on the ground floor on buying the coins. I had no doubt the IRS was knocking on their door for breakfast and coffee at 6AM Sharp.......................jmho
  12. Did anyone else hear about those folks in California that dug up about 3 cans of mint gold coins and some of the coins could be worth as much as a million bucks each. My question is who did they belong to before they got dug up yesterday and can that person reclaim them or can the Feds just confiscate them as Federal property. The people that found them said they were going to auction them off.
  13. It took a pretty bad hit yesterday as what I heard on Channel 5 nightly News. They did show some items that were bought with bitcoins and it had some firearms in the batch of items shown. I don't know thta much about it but sound to much like a Ponzi scheme for me to even consider it + I don't have two nickels to run together most of the time............jmho
  14. I have been watching it since it first began and I have also known about Mark Harmon's anti gun attitude but then a lot of Tinsel Town claims to be anti gunners. I have learned to take a lot of that with a grain of salt, reason being that the few that have admitted that they are Pro-Gun don't get work once they come out of the closet with their feelings. Gary Sinese never came out and openly admitted to be Pro-Gun but because his charities he raises money for  supports a few organizations that support in any little way a pro gun attitude CSI New York got yanked and I don't know if he is able to get any work. That is why in all honesty I think many actors and actresses claim to be anti gun to keep working, but I have my doubts that all that many of them really are but that is my opinion. I did notice that Gene Hackman made the decision right after making the Movie Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood that he would never make another violent movie and this year he retired. I have heard about a few other actors that admitted being Pro gun and once they did they didn't get any work. So my conclusion is that if you are Pro Gun in Tinsel Town and admit it you don't work........................jmho
  15. I have a grand daughter right now that is on probation from getting involved with trash. She has a baby boy from the guy and when he got caught dealing drugs she was charged also even though she was not directly involved but was living with him. He is in jail because he has a rap sheet long as his arm. She got probation because she had never been in trouble before but I cannot get her a HCP now so all she has to depend on is that piece of paper and he said when he gets out he will be coming to see his son , paper or not.
  16. I will not second your decision on not telling the parents what you witness and I would have not just told them what I saw. I would have shown them the video. Reason being because the child lost his dog they may go out and get him another one and I surely don't believe he deserves another one with such little care for the first ones loss................jmho
  17.   You can almost bet there have been attorney's talking to him about a civil lawsuit. That is what some lawyers do..........jmho
  18.   I don't think they will allow him back in. They have seen all the trouble he caused here and they have enough problems already............jmho
  19. I'm looking forward to them trying to enforce that in Alaska where 85% of the homes up there heat with wood if they live outside any of the few big cities up there. I think it may be a push to try and get more homes to move over to Natural gas since they have such an abundance of it now...........jmho
  20. Why did this thread go from doing something positive to a complete political thread. I know we are talking about contacting our elected officials but I thought if you wanted a bill supported that is what you did. Where did I go wrong in thinking that? I just wrote to my representatives and ask them to support the bill. Wasn't that what this was suppose to be about?............................... :ugh:  :ugh:
  21. It is a major tourist town and that keeps the prices of everything higher. It does cost more to live there but it is a beautiful area to live. Lots of Mountains and home of Dollywood so you can imagine the traffic issues Pretty close to Gatlinburg which is another heavy tourist town and the entrance into Great Smoky Mountain National Park. That's about all I know about it. Been there a few times as a tourist.
  22. I have also considered getting into buying one and going shopping under ground but I cannot find a good detector I can afford and don't want to buy junk to begin with. I think it would be a good reason to get me out of the house more and I know several large farms I could go to that were settles in the mid 1800's and a few of them had battles fought on them during civil war and also between Indians and settlers.
  23. I'm in for it and do we write just our officials in our district or do we write maybe the ones in surrounding districts also?
  24. I had a buddy of mine send me tat in an email a while back. It was funny.............
  25. It is amazing how fast the police can get on a scene wen some one with HCP calls and says if this guy follows me to my destination I will be in fear of my life and will shoot the guy because i am armed. Yet in most cases when you need one you can't find one right then. I have seen times I can drive all over Gallatin and never see a squad car. Other times you drive around and you will see City and County squad cars everywhere........... :squint:
