I cannot remember at what time employers began using the term you are over qualified for a position but to me that is just Royal BS that they use to politely turn you down for employment. Like I said, I operated an automotive repair center for most of my life after returning home from service because of my love for cars and my love for working on them. I know most folks will laugh at this because of that commercial on TV but my business began in my two car garage. My son and Grandson now operate the business and they have 8 employees. All great techs and my son pays for them to continue their automotive repair education my sending them to training seminars. I had to laugh about a year ago when he called me up and ask me to come up and help him out with a few problems. He needed some Carburators rebuilt and none of his techs nor he knew anything about how to do it. They can fix the most elaborate Fuel Injection systems on the market but can't rebuild a Quadra jet 4 barrel carburetor and get it to work or a 650 dual pumper Holley and get the float levels sent properly and cause them not to flood out. I picked out one of his techs and gave him a crash course on building carburetors. He had a rash of older cars showing up that people where beginning to drive again. Old Camaro's and Mustangs and there was even a 1957 Chrysler Crown Imperial with twin carter AFB carbs on a 392 Hemi. I spent two weeks up there working on carbs and showing this young tech how to build them. I was impressed with this young man because he was quick to fire out a question if he didn't understand something. The hardest part of the two weeks was finding carburetor kits for cars that old. Then we had an issue show up and on of all the cars for it to happen the Crown imperial after building the carbs and it was sitting there idling just shut off. I told my son to check the spark and he said none. I told him to bring the motor up on TDC(Top Dead Center) and pull the distributor out and he did. I looked at the points and it was as I expected. A copper strap broke on one set of the dual points. I removed the Vacuum advance plate and turned it up side down and the broken piece fell out on the work bench. He ordered new pair of points and condensers and I put them back in the distributor with my young tech watching my every move. had my son replace the distributor back in with rotor button on #1 and that old Chrysler came back to life running perfect. I really miss being able to work on cars but I mean real cars like that old Chrysler. There was more metal in one front fender of that car then there is in 3 new cars today. Anyway back to the original reason for this thread. I would have never turned away a person because he was over qualified for a job but the reason employers do is because they figure just about the time they get you trained in your lower paying job an opening will come up in a company you are qualified for and at a much higher pay level and you will leave for the job you wanted and qualified for. That is what the major turn over is in fast food is about. Over qualified people finding their dream job and leaving to build their future..............jmho

Great Weekend !! A balding white haired man from Naples, Florida walked into a jewelry store this past Friday evening with a beautiful, much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The man said, 'No, I'd like to see something more special.' At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. 'Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000, the jeweler said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, 'We'll take it.' The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the man stated, 'By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds, and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.' On Monday morning, the jeweler angrily phoned the old man and said: 'There's no money in that account.' 'I know,' said the old man…. 'But let me tell you about MY WEEKEND!!!'

Back when i operated my automotive repair center i could care less about an applicants education per 12 years of education. My only concerns was is the person honest with no criminal record and does he have experience hands on Auto repair training and how many years. I can think of two times in my 35 years of operating a business that I knew i had hired a person with little schooling in book learning but both of them were great mechanics and I never regretted hiring either of them. I did regret losing them as their lives changed and they moved on. I was never one to care about who they knew but what they knew was very important and in many cases what they didn't know I would teach them..................jmho

I feel sorry for your wife my friend because a good teacher can suffer from wanting to be a teacher but not being allowed to be one and I would imagine your wife comes home frustrated ever day............jmho

Well He left here an unhappy guy. He had a French MAB D and an Olive Green Kel-tec each with 2 mags. He said that he has talked with 6 of his buddy's that are local gun store owners and they all told him the MAB D was worth anywhere from 350.00 to 500.00 depending on the buyer and how bad they want it. I said well, it's not that i don't believe you because they may have told you that but a friend of mine that does not have a dog in this hunt at all specifically made it clear that is it was MAB D it was worth from 150.00-200.00 tops and I have a tendency to trust his word over hearsay from someone else. Then I said I would just rather not even discuss a trade of any kind even if your willing to add some cash because I know the amount your going to offer will be an insult and I would rather you didn't do that and he left and while going out the door he said I got a guy right now said he will give 300.00 for the French gun and i told him I hope the guy is not a felon because that is the only person I can think of that would pay that kind of money for junk.......................  Still have my Sig..........

Well now I am convinced the guy does not have a clue what French pistol he has. I just spoke with him and asked him for a model number and he said all it says on the gun is it is a Pistolet imported from France which tells me nothing because when I typed that in google search it put up about 200 or more pictures of French guns but he is on his way over here with it and the Kel-Tec and when I asked him what model the Kel-Tec was he said it was Green 380. Went to buds to see what they had and they have about 5 or 6 green Kel-tec 380's listed so won't know anything about it till the guy gets here. This guy may be leaving here unhappy because I am not going to make a bad deal for my Sig on any junk he may be peddling. I have known him a long time and and we have made some good deals in the past but this one does not sound good right now...........jmho

Let us look at what education was back in the 50's and 60's when I was in school. you were taught actually what would be needed in your future. Reading, Writing, arithmetic and spelling which are the four most important courses a person still uses every day even in the day of all the most modern technology. I use each of them every day in some form or fashion still today. There are 1000's of kids that graduate from high school today without those four simple skills which is totally unacceptable to me. If they are not teaching the basic 4 skills needed in the every day world, just what are they teaching? I was taught other courses that were used to fill a full school day such as Science, or biology in later years but the basic education for grammar school was reading, writing, spelling and arithmetic. Those are suppose to be taught to every student in grades 1-8 are they not????? Can someone tell me what is being taught in the grammar school levels if the basics are not?......................

Channel 5 News Investigates did a report about this sometime back and did some interviewing with some of the street corner beggars and I was shocked t see how honest most of them were. They spoke with a couple guys that actually admitted that they make more money per day just asking for money than many people do working an 8 hours day. There was a few of them that have made it their life work and have developed a system of rotating locations so same people don't see them everyday. They move around to a select set of street corners by riding the city bus and when asked where they sleep and eat they say, the Mission or one of the homeless shelters. 3 different guys admitted they can make as much as 150.00 to 200.00 a day. i had to laugh at one guy that I use to see on a street corner. He would hold a sign that said Vietnam vet, please help. I finally asked him one day how he was doing and he said I don't do well at all and don't know why. I said let me help you out. Find some new cardboard and make you a new sign that says Desert Storm Vet needs help. He said why would that help and I told him because son, you were not even born when the Vietnam war was going on so how can you be a Vet from it. He looked at me and said gosh sir thanks and he walked away. I figure if he is going to make a living bumming he should at least be good at it..... :2cents:

Well, lets see. Last time I was asked to provide proof of my high school education by providing a diploma I told the potential employer that I had not seen my diploma since about a day after I receive it. I hung it on the wall of my parents home and while I was in the military they sold our ranch and moved twice during the time I was out of the country and you are the first company that has requested to actually see a copy of my diploma. The man said no diploma no job. I said ok and I went to the high school I graduated from in 1966 to get a copy of my diploma. Guess what? The school I went to is no longer a high school but a middle school and I am told that all the records of graduates from William James High School had been relocated to the Dickson County High School. I drive to the Dickson County High School and ask them for a copy of my diploma. Guess what? They cannot find a record of me ever attending Dickson County School. I explain to them that back then it was White Bluff High School and school name was William James High School. Back when they began re arranging all of the school systems and making all these stupid school levels like Grammar, middle, Jr High and High Schools all the records from all the schools in the existing schools were moved to the main county High school for safe keeping and now they tell me they can't find a record of me attending a Dickson county High School or graduating and I said well , lets see if you can find my diploma for my lawyer. I also learned that every person in my graduating class was having the same problem and none had a copy of their diploma because they didn't want to fight them. Well I love a good fight, especially when I can show a county just how stupid they are about their record keeping and the future of many peoples lives. My Lawyer contacted the Dickson county School Board by way of a written request demanding that the Dickson County School system produce a copy of my Diploma and all of my school grades and records. He gave them 10 days. The 10 days came and went with no reply. I guess they thought I was going to go away like the others did that asked for theirs did. Nope , my lawyers next move was to get a court order served on the Dickson County School Board Superintendent to provide me with a copy of my diploma and the judge only gave them 10 days also. We ended up in Court about a month later and they said they told the court that they had no records of my ever attending a Dickson County High School And the judge ask them if they could provide proof I did not attend a Dickson County High School? And they said if they have no record of my attending a Dickson County High school that should be proof enough. The judge did not accept that and he then requested that the Dickson County School board provide any and all records of the William James High School of White Bluff Tennessee since they are now the operators of said school in a middle school level. They ask for time and the judge gave the 30 days. In 30 days they came back to court and their attorney had to admit that the Dickson County School Board had either misplaced or destroyed all of the records from William James High School during the transition of the county's school reorganization program. The judge calmly looked at the attorney and said you and your school system have lost or misplaced the papers and records that could effect the outcome of hundreds or maybe thousands of High school graduates futures. Sir, that is unacceptable. He said this cases is in recess for 2 hours in which I will make a decision as to what course of action the court will take on this issue. (Now remember this all began because 1 guy at 1 company said he would not employ me as a mechanic without a diploma) Back in court the judge had made his decision. He issued a court order demanding that from that date with was April 10th 1976 to the year 2025 the Dickson County School System is required by law to provide to any applicant requesting a copy of their diploma that attending the William James High School between the years of 1950 and 1980 a Dickson County High School Graduation Diploma. 1980 was when all of the records from William James High School were transferred to the protection of the Dickson County School system for safe keeping during the school reorganization. I found out later that three of my class mates actually sued the Dickson County School System for money due to the damage they had experienced because they had been denied entry into higher education programs because they could not provide the grade point averages required to enter the college to further their educations once they learned they could receive diplomas. Yea, I admit it, I'm a trouble maker............ :stir: :stir:

Well I thank everyone for their input and as usual always get plenty of help when i ask for it. Now All I need is to see the gun tomorrow evening. The guy is really hot for this Sig I have to give his wife for her purse. Right now she has like I said kel-tec 380 which is another gun i know very little about except I went and looked at Buds and the 380 Kel-tech they have , none of them are high priced. They are less costly then 380 Bersa's are. The guy is wanting to trade both of his guns and put up 200.00 cash to make the deal. The only thing I am scared of is the French gun??????? Might get him to leave just the French gun with me till Sunday so I can do some research on it before we make the deal. That way I can get some pictures up on here and you folks can help me out with what it is...............

Well, I have a 380 Llama and it shoots great, never jams with any type ammo from cheap to high end and I actually am more accurate than I am with any of my other 380's. With that being said I also have one of the older models also. Mine was made when Llama was still built by Stoger Arms. Since Stoger sold them out the new company has folded and are no more. Kel-Tec is still around. I know guys that did buy some of the Llama 45 calibers back in 2002 and 2003 before the company went under for $300.00 for new guns in the box and are still shooting them trouble free today and a few others have had issues with theirs. Some of the old Gunsmiths still have parts for them but you have to do a little searching to locate them. As far as magazines go I can give you the name of a company that custom builds magazines and they are not expensive at all and I got 4 back up mags for my 380 and it was $105.00 including shipping. What would I buy today? Probably a Llama but only because I have one and know a few guys that have had good luck with them but KelTec is your best choice in this because they are still i business making guns.............jmho

I don't know what the gun looks like yet. Will get to see it tomorrow evening. That is why I am trying to learn as much about french guns as I can before he shows up. Don't want to be trading my Sig for junk. He wants to trade me a Kel-tech 380 and a French 32 Caliber and 200.00 for the Sig for his wife to carry. She is packing the Kel-Tec in her purse right now.

I quite giving to people and any charities back many years ago. I am sure there was a few honest people that needed a little change but I never gave it up. Am I mean? Maybe but I have my reasons for being like I am and I see it more everyday and it keeps reminding me of why I don't give. Oh wait, I don't want to lie. I do give 1time each month. I write a check to St Judes every month. But that is it. I even refuse to give blood any longer. Red Cross lost me in October 2001. Never went back there again. If any of you have ever had a son , daughter, or loved one terminally ill and dying and you reach out for help you will learn very quickly that none of these organizations that claim to be there to help you "aren't". All they want is your money!!!!! I also did give a one time donation to that organization that helped the families of the Fallen Hero's during the shutdown bring their family members home and lay them to rest. Can't even remember the name of it any more. I listen to the news about every evening and not very many days pass that you don't hear about another charity that is caught up in crime and corruption from stealing your hard earned donations for their own personal gain. Example 9/11/2001 the Red Cross located in Nashville had people lined up out the door and down the sidewalk with donors there to give blood. The even brought three of their blood mobiles to the clinic there to assist. That evening after 1000's of units of blood had been collected the following day they were informed that all that blood would not be needed in New York and the red Cross here realized that they did not have enough refrigeration to store all the blood they had collected. At the time there was 57 hospitals in and around Middle Tennessee that had plenty of storage coolers for that life saving blood and many hospitals that learned of the red Cross situation offered to take the blood and store it. Instead of the Red Cross doing the right thing and sending it to the hospitals for good use, they destroyed all they could not keep in coolers at the Red Cross. That decision was and still is totally unacceptable to me. It was determined that more than 2500 units of blood was destroyed rather than sent to area hospitals. That and then a month later the Red Cross Accounting office had misplaced 32 million dollars that had been donated on 9/11/2001 and that same week the head of the Red Cross resigns her position and there was never an investigation into where that money went? Sorry but that kind of put a nasty taste in my mouth with the Red Cross............jmho

Ok. here is what I have found and can anyone pick out the 32 longs from his mess of guns and maybe which ones to avoid? https://www.google.com/search?q=32+caliber+pistols+made+in+France&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=6BFtU8ulH4nz8AGr3ICwCw&ved=0CDUQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=583#imgdii=_

i have a gentleman that we swap back and forth with on things. He knows I have that P238 Sig I bought from TGO'er and he wants it and has a French made 32 caliber semi auto. I didn't even know the French were into building guns. He also has Kel-Tec 380 and he is going to want to wheel and deal on that Sig I have. I know the Kel-Tec might be 270.00 at most with 1 extra mag depending on condition but I have no clue about this French gun which he also has extra mag for. Can any one say anything positive about a French gun in 32 caliber to give me any idea at all of what it may be worth? Any help would be greatly appreciated....................

I think there are many times that the parents know that they have a problem child and may be ashamed to admit it and by trying to build that person up what they are really doing is trying to take the blame off of them and putting it on anything other then themselves. People would think more highly of them if they would just admit they had a problem child but they don't look at it that way. Trevon Martin was a problem child and the only reason he was in Florida living with his father it because he got kicked out of school for causing trouble. Yet when he got killed in a clear case of self defense it almost cause a national incident because his family refused to admit he was not the innocent little boy they showed in the pictures from years earlier. I will never understand this type of attitude by people but all my family members know, if they get in trouble from bad self inflicted decisions there is no mercy coming from me for their actions.............jmho I call it Tough Love!!

One of my grand sons got busted for possession of drugs for Resale 3 weeks ago. He called me to see about getting him an attorney and a bondsman to get him out of jail. He got out of jail after he went up in front of the judge and the judge appointed him a public defender. I found out he called his father first and his father(my Son) told him the same thing I did. I have spoke with his public defender and the judge in the county because i know them both. This his first arrest and I asked the judge and public defender to negotiate a plea bargain that will keep him out of jail but sentence him to 5 to 10 years and put him on a ten year probation and make it very clear to him that if he even sneezes and breaks a law he does the 5 to 10 for Probation violation. His father and I both told him he was hanging with the wrong people and it went in one ear and out the other. The judge is also going to inform him that he can violate if he is caught up in any crime that he could be guilty by association which would violate his probation. If his father and I cannot keep hm from associating with trash maybe the judge can. I have a policy I live by and have for most of my adult life and that is, " No mercy for self inflicted injuries" and by not learning by your mistakes and repeating them is self inflicted.............jmho

Maybe they are more afraid of being run over by a bicycle than they are a car or like stated above they may be from a country that does not have sidewalks. Either way you can't fix Stupid..............jmho

If we are talking love ones in danger the bad guys are going to be dead or dying as fast as humanly possible and no questions asked. That requires little thought and a lot of action on my part. They would not even know I was there with them till I began slinging hot lead in them, back, front or sideways..........jmho

You would think if bond has been set then she has gone before a judge. If she could not afford a lawyer at that point the court would appoint her a public defender to handle her case and you should be able to find out from the attorney what the actual charges are?....................

My 97 has 148,000 on it. If you ever decide you may want to get rid of your Black Beauty send me a PM? Does it have the 4.0 High Output motor and is it stick or automatic?
