Has a small issue yesterday in Cookville!
bersaguy replied to bersaguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would not have actually called these kids a Mob. I looked into the faces of each of them and I could tell that some of them may have been 12 and could tell they were not comfortable being involved and were standing back farther than the two up front. Once the guy up front turned around and began to walk away those in the back had already began to turn. I at no time felt it would escalate once they knew I was armed as the eyes on the two up front went to almost golf ball size as I eased the hammer back like WOW was not expecting that!!!! Really folks, it was not anything like a flash mob type thing and in all honesty I don't think they were really looking to cause an issue but bluff a little and in doing so they got a learning experience to put in their memory banks for their futures......................jmho -

Proof that Concealed Carry permit holders live in a dream world
bersaguy replied to Ron_TN's topic in General Chat
I also was paying close attention to the holsters the Victim was given but I was also paying attention to the fact that they were all using a block style gun but was most compelling to me was the long white long sleeve shirts all of the class was wearing. Honestly, how many people that carry concealed conceal with a long white T-shirt that has a very good chance of hinging the gun up. I wear a t-shirt tucked and a light short sleeve button up cover shirt with only 1 button closed in middle of shirt. I can open that button and or raise that shirt and have no fear of having trouble gaining complete access to my gun. That whole scenario was a joke and rigged to make those students look dumb..................jmho -
I have never had the privilege of trying to carry and of the block designed square pistols in an IWB holster but have seen a few of my friends that do. To me it looks very uncomfortable but that's just me but all of them said it does take some getting use to. The guns are just FAT is all i can say and again maybe it's just my view on it. I just like a sleek looking comfortable fitting hand gun that I can carry concealed outside the waistband with just a light cover shirt and not print. That is why my choice is the Bersa's....................jmho

Has a small issue yesterday in Cookville!
bersaguy replied to bersaguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Had it escalated to the point I was required to actually remove my Bersa from my holster, even if the kids all scattered and ran, at that point I would have dialed 911 and waited on police to arrive and filed a report. I'm not sure but I am betting the incident was caught on at least two or three area camera's. Maybe the market I was at even had one. I didn't bother to look. I was also not them only customer in this market. It was fairly busy and I am sure someone else may have witnessed what took place and no one else bothered to call 911. That tells me that it was not necessary because it all happened in a matter of 45 seconds to 1 minute and they were walking away. But I do promise I will call next time if this ever happens again because many good points have been made about first caller is from Victim..................... -
An Interesting Question. What If...
bersaguy replied to WindHawk's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Things like this make my head hurt. I keep getting confused on the Muslim / Islam programs. If you are a Muslim does that automatically make you a terrorist? If you are a believer in Islam but not a Muslim are you a terrorist? Can you be a believer in Islam and the Islamic faith and not be a Muslim? Is there a line between them that I don't see and if so can someone explain it to me. I have never felt that all people of Islamic faith are terrorists. How do you tell them apart? To see a person from any of the middle East nations, does that mean they are automatically a terrorist? Sorry but I have always had an issue with understanding this? I guess it is the old man Syndrome in me.......................  -

A police officer explains why concealed carry is good
bersaguy replied to Ron_TN's topic in General Chat
Great video for sure and it really does explain the reason why more and more people need to get carry permits. I also agree with the officer when he discusses the calibers of guns folks can carry. Most times when I go out I carry one of my Bersa 380's but there are times I just carry my Phoenix 22cal semi auto. It has 11 rounds with 1 in the tube and 10 in the magazine and all of them are ball ammo. No Hollowpoints. I want penetration and I don't feel I can get that from hollowpoints if person is wearing heavy clothing..........jmho -
Word of mouth from a local TWRA officer is where i got it but evidently he was also wrong and needs to study his own rules.

I would have put it out of it's misery and then called it in so the meat could have been salvaged and sent to a homeless shelter. The TWRA collects all good early road kills and donates the meat. Also you can get a report from them for insurance purposes. I have not heard of any TWRA people giving anyone any grief for putting an injured deer down bu they do appreciate a call so they can get the meat......................

I would have made the same post if it were Hispanics or White Kids and i would have mentioned race to make it clear for readers. I am not racist in any way, form or fashion but when trying to explain a situation it is best if you do clarify details........jmho -

oh yea, she was barking and if any of them got to close it went from bark to growl and if one had actually got close enough to put their hand in the jeep window they would have gotten bit. She guards that Jeep really well when she is in the back seat. She is old but still can handle herself well and still has great teeth. -

Well, I don't think these young men called the police and gave them my plate number of I would have never made it home and or the Leos would have been knocking on my door by now. I laid awake thinking about yesterday and i have drawn the conclusion that they were traveling and possibly staying the night in a local motel. A lot of these people are traveling right now to attend protests that are going on in real troubled areas and that is my guess. They may have been headed back to Memphis since they would be traveling I 40. I think everything will be ok and I did not lose any sleep over it except about 10 minutes last evening. I'm comfortable with my actions and did not allow anything to escalate beyond where it did. -

Yep, it shoots exactly were you want to bullet to hit. I love the gun. I have put about 200 rounds through it and it has never FTFeed or FTFire. I also love the trigger. It is a little firm when firing in double action on that first round but after that she sweetens right up. That's why I ease the hammer back when I did the other day. I have also been chasing and extra magazine or two and I am hoping TripleK will begin making them. They are researching them to see if it would be a profitable enough venture. I hope they begin making them. I have already bought Mags for my Llama from them and they work great so hoping they move forward on these. If they do they will be contacting me to let me know. -

No Offense was taken at all. I really don't know anything about Cookville other than that is where my boat mechanic is. Beyond that I couldn't say anything either way about the town. As for them being a group and in the town, they may have been passing through on I 40 and staying in a motel there. I have no clue. I just know it was a moderate experience and My blood Pressure didn't even go up. I figured it was going to be up to them how many had to get shot and I am glad they decided None was the number and they moved on. I guess I would have had to call the police at that point.......................... -

No Problem my friend and yea it's a Bersa and I hunted for ever for that particular model and a buddy of mine found one for sale someplace and he didn't even hesitate buying it and calling me and telling me had had got me a great gun and what it was. I was thrilled and even more thrilled when I got it in my hands. I would never load the hammer on a double action revolver while it is holstered. The Bersa is also a double action. My move to pull the hammer back while one of them was looking at it with my hand on it I figured he knew at that point it was in the mode to get ready to do business and it made it much more a discouragement for them to wait around and they began moving away almost immediately . -

Gosh, guess I need t answer a few things here. First is I never put my gun in m console and glad I didn't cause my friend that was in my Jeep with Kasey may not have been as in control as I was. He had locked all the doors when they first began poking jokes at Kasey being so fat and she was barking at them. Second is I will definitely call the police if I am ever in another situation like this again. It was not all that serious and once they realized I was armed the situation was defused and in all honesty I would have hated to see a bunch of police roll in on these kids and make things escalate a lot more and maybe a LEO get excited and shoot a kid. Some one ask where it was. It was a fast stop or quick stop market between Interstate Drive and I-40. I just dropped my boat off on Interstate Drive and was heading back home. As far as my cocking my model 85 in my holster. The safety was on and hammer was in the de-cock position which allows the 85 hammer to be cocked while on safety. Gotta love a quality Bersa. The new Bersa's don't offer that option. That is why I wanted the model 85 so bad and was able to get one a year ago. Plus it also offers and has the 15 round capacity with 1 in the tube and 14 in the magazine. I promise I will call the police next time.....................  I am not familiar with Cookville other than when I take my boat up there for service so don't know what the ratio is on Black and White and don't really care. I do know that when I go and pick my boat back up I won't make any stops on the way back home....... -

Well, I thought about calling the police but it appeared they were all walking and had no vehicle to get into. I watched the boy with his hand in his pocket and it appeared he wrapped his hand around a knife and not a firearm. Had I seen a firearm come out he would have got shot first. By the time police would have arrived and filed a report and then actually went looking for them they would have been long gone. If it had escalated farther I would have had no choice. All I wanted to do after they moved on was get on my way home. -
I missed it too when it was first released but in all honesty I would guess that the only person it was offensive to was the teacher. Other students wouldn't pay no or little attention to it...........jmho

I had to take my Skeeter Bass Boat in for repairs and after dropping it off before hitting the interstate to come home I stopped at a quick stop market to get a bottle of water and my buddy with me a Pepsi. When I came out of the store I noticed that 5 young black youths had kinda surrounded my jeep and buddy inside and of course I had Kasey along. they were poking fun at her and yelling at her and she was barking back at them. When I approached my Jeep 3 of the young men stepped between me and my jeep and were about 10 feet away. I ask them politely to let me pass and one of them said "what you gonna do if we don't"? I saw one of them slip his hand in his pocket. I always wear a cover shirt with only one button closed. I unbuttoned it and opened it up just enough for them to see it and I eased my hand around my model 85 and pulled the hammer back but never removed it from holster. I asked again to back off and let me in my jeep. When the one up front saw I was ready to do what ever it took to get in my jeep they all moved back and began to walk away after they huddled up for a few seconds. I waited till they were a safe distance before moving towards my Jeep. That was were it all ended and I would like to hear thoughts and opinions on if my actions were the right ones? I don't think any of them were much over 14 years old..............................

Where to Shoot Shotguns Outdoors (Nashville Area)

A guy walks into a bar in West Virginia and orders a white wine. All the hillbillies sitting around the bar look up from their beer and whiskey, expecting to see some pitiful Yankee from the north. The bartender says, "You ain't from around here, are ya?" The guy says, "No, I'm from Canada." The bartender says, "What do you do in Canada?" The guy says, "I'm a taxidermist." The bartender says, "A taxidermist? What in the hell is a taxidermist? Do you drive a taxi?" "No," says the Canadian, "I don't drive a taxi. I mount animals." The bartender grins and hollers, "It's okay, boys. He's one of us!"
