Save Monkeyman ... Or not ... (Classic Car Advice)
bersaguy replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in General Chat
Ok, after reading the ad and looking at the truck you are not really wanting to sell her. You are actually hoping no one buys her. You listed ever flaw she has and has already planted in any potential buyers mind that they will be paying somewhere close to 10 grand on a vehicle that will need at least another 5 grand spent on her from the get go........... That is sure sign you don't want her to sell..... -
You may be right, never thought about that. It's been a while since I bought any ammo. Bought quit a bit back several years ago so have not priced any recently................... :ugh: :ugh:

Bersa Thunder 380s start at $265.00 and Bersa 9mm begin at over $400.00 at Bud's so where is it that you find 380's cost more than 9mm do?

Save Monkeyman ... Or not ... (Classic Car Advice)
bersaguy replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in General Chat
I had a 1990 GMC 1500 Sierra that I bought new in 1990 and paid cash for it. I put 240,000 miles on her and much of the time it was pulling a bass Boat all or southeastern U.S. fishing bass tournaments. All the time I owned that truck I only had to put two rebuilt trannys in her and regular maintenance. It still had original timing chain in it. My Son gave me a Jeep Cherokee once I quit touring and it will pull bass boat to all local lakes. I parked the GMC for about a month and got a hair up my but to set it out front of my house with a 4 sale sign on it That same day I had 5 people stop by and ask about it and how much I wanted for it. I to this day cannot explain why I sold it rather than just slowly fix her up but I put a price of $2,500.00 on it back in 2009 thinking no one would pay that for it. A guy and his wife stopped in that same afternoon and test drove it and came back and ask what I wanted for it. I said $2.500.00 non negotiation. He said I was asking to much for a truck with that many miles on it and the age of it. I said that is the price and not a dime less. He said thanks and went and got in with his wife and left. An hour later he came back and handed me 25 folding Ben Franklin's and I signed the title and watched it drive away. 5 minutes after it was out of sight I regretted selling it and to this day still regret it. Make sure that once you do sell it you don't end up like me. Regretting it and helpless to do anything about it.........jmho -
I got out in 73 so I am sure my info is probably on a micro-phish some where and don't know if they can get at those but one never knows when it comes to stupidity of the Federal government...................

I would be willing to guess any Navy Seal or Ranger that has been in training for more than 5 years could all perform like that and probably actually reload quicker then they did............jmho

Well, I guess I am the only guy that still has cable. I choose to have it because it has all the channels I enjoy watching such as Discovery, History channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, TLC, NBCSN, all ESPN's and a few others and i am on my own and I do watch them a lot. I have had my share of fights with Comcast over the years before finally about a year ago I found the exact package I wanted that has everything I want including all local channels. My main issue with them was the ever changing bill changes each month. $10.00 to $15.00 every month I had a very long talk with Customer Service one day and got this issue resolved. My bill has been with in a few nickels or dimes of $62.00 a month for the package I wanted and has not went up or down in over a year. I don't mid paying $744.00 dollars a year to get what i enjoy. Now if I didn't have to put up with 6 minutes of programming and 5 minutes of damn commercials I would be happy. I do understand that commercials pay for their programming but it seems here recently they are over doing it.............jmho

Well, what I have read does cover a number of different scenario's for sure but then there are guys like me. Yea, I have old Military training which for the most part I do remember how to do it. And when I got out I did spend a fair amount of time practicing because I had a place I could do it. My grandfathers Ranch. But as the years went by and I got almost killed by a run away truck that broke or fractured about 60% of the bones in my body and did major internal damage it is not my heart or my mine that prevents me from training now but my body. Doctors have told me I will be suffering from that truck for the rest of my life. They were right to a point. I was young when I got hurt and after I healed up I did go back to my training along with my mechanics work and over the years I did undergo several more surgeries to repair things that showed up in later years. In 1990 they had to implant 26 square inches of Mylex Mesh into my body just to hold my abdomen together and told me no more work and no extra strenuous activities requiring any lifting of more than a gallon of milk. I did up until my eye sight began going from cataracts spend at least 3 days a week at the range with a few of my buddies and I will again soon as my eye surgeries are complete. Like I said my heart and my mine are still in a training mode but body won't allow it. As far as my protecting myself and loved ones, I can still recall on my training to do that because the Adrenalin will take over and body pain will be ignored at that point. Now with that said I do understand the frustration you have Caster. This day in time most people are focusing on taking care of family by putting food on the table and a roof over their head plus many companies work people longer hours with less employees. I think the reason for having issues with finding a place to train, that comes from all the lawsuits people open themselves up to should something happen on their land. Back when we owned the Ranch/Farm there towards we sold it if we allowed anyone other than family to hunt they had to sign a waiver agreeing not to sue if injury or death while on the property and also were responsible for any and all livestock that my be killed. You would be surprised how many people refused to sign it and didn't get to hunt. I do wish you the best in your goals to get a few friends to train with you and you do find a location in which to train..........

Thieves attempt to break into Shooters, Guns and Ammo
bersaguy replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
If I am not mistaken, isn't that the old Gun City location. If it is, that place was but like Fort Knox and sat right on the corner kinda hanging on to a hill. Been in there a few times and you ain't gonna drive no normal pick up truck through the front of that building......jmho -
Well, I have tried about all calibers out there and I have settled on 380's for the most I feel comfortable with for Home and carry. I know a lot of people will say they are just not enough fire power but with the right ammo they do a damn nice job in a gel test. ...........jmho

Fisherman Killed on Percy Priest lake boat ramp!!!
bersaguy replied to bersaguy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I have never fish out of Mona Boat ramp. Always seemed to isolated for my taste. I seldom put in at Fate Sanders even though one of my good friends owns that Fate Sanders Marina. I knew Big John back when he ran it and now Little John owns it and i still won't launch from there because of that way the parking lot is isolated from the marina. If I can't see my tow vehicle from the water I won't launch there. That is one of the reasons I like Seven Points. Well lit all night and you can scan the entire parking area from the lake with your boat headlights. There has been a few times we came in and there was two cars parked at the end of the lot with no trailers on either so I just sat out in the water with my boat headlights kinda trained on the cars. Within about 5 minutes or less both cars stated up and left. We wanted about 5 minutes to make sure they weren't coming back before I drop Tommy off to go get the trailer backed in and I sat lined up and ready to load soon as the trailer was in the water with my gun in my hand.............. :squint: -
I don't know why you would say a Phoenix is junk. I have owned 3 of them and none of them were junk. Each one was very accurate, never had a FTF and would shoot about any ammo out there. I have one right now and still shoot it often at the range with zero problems. The only issue I have with them are they do have more safeties than I like on a gun but that would be my only complaint....JMHO

So I am thinking about starting a TGO Hall of Shame
bersaguy replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat

I wish I could afford lifetime so would not have to renew but can't so have to just keep renewing....................  -
Fisherman Killed on Percy Priest lake boat ramp!!!
bersaguy replied to bersaguy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Back when I was fishing with my son in law we only used Seven Points launch ramp because it is well lit at night. Also when I would approach the dock to load at 1 or 2 AM I would do a scan of the entire parking area and woods around it before letting my Son In law out on the dock to get the trailer. In case I have not shown the front of my Skeeter on here I have a pair of Airliner Landing lights mounted on the front that will light up a football field and are really hard to actually look into directly so when I turn them on things do light up a lot. I also hand him one of my pistols I have in the boat to walk to the truck with and I keep the lights on with gun in hand to back him up. I worry about him fishing alone now with my eye sight but he now will take a friend along and he does same procedure and now has his own HCP and packs his own heat. -
I have a friend that has several L.C Smith Double barrels he has had for many years in his collection of shotguns. back when he bought them they were a very sought after double barrel. His are all original L.C.Smiths and two of the are so old they have the Damascus twist barrels on them which does not recommend anything except Black powder shotgun shells be used in them. ...... :2cents:

The only reason Japan did (NOT) invade our homeland when they attacked Pearl harbor was because of the intelligence of an Admiral of the Imperial Japanese navy when he was ask why Japan did not attack the American home land he stated that to do so we would surely be defeated. ("In that country there is a man or women behind every blade of grass with a gun and we would be enormously out numbered"). He was not afraid of our military but of the fighting spirit of the American people overall. He also made the statement as men cheered on their way back to Japan that was( "I fear we have done nothing more than awakened a sleeping giant") Dolo is correct in so many ways I cannot pick any one item out. I can say that our President has caused a great loss of respect by our allies because of his say something but do nothing actions and by not standing behind our real allies he has made our great nation appear weak in the eyes of our allies. He has also done great damage in his attempts to divide us at home as a nation. All of us can only pray for a new leader to step up and take America back where she needs to be and we all need to hammer our elected officials in the Congress and Senate every day letting them know our distrust in them and let them know they all can be replaced...........................JMHO

Plus storage and maintenance fees while in storage. Said , depending of the item anywhere from a $100.00 a day up to a $1,000.00 a day would be a nice round figure!!!.......................

Of Course I will have to see it and we have a Carmike theater here in Gallatin that is not posted nor do they wan nor do they have metal detectors last time my son in law and daughter was there both packing heaters 2 weeks ago. I will also buy it when it comes out on DVD as I do have the complete collection of them up to this one. I will be passing them down to my grand children's children. One thing I did notice in the trailer was all new costumes and was shocked and pleased to see Harrison Ford but with all that they are still flying the same space crafts which makes the movie more special. The Old Millennium Falcon was a sight to see again..........

If Obama is really serious about getting his stuff back I would invite him to come and pick it but but would not spend time or money locally to send it back. I bet he would have trouble finding any troops that would be willing to come and pick the stuff back up..........jmho

Clinton suggests she'd consider mandatory gun buy-backs
bersaguy replied to polecat's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This topic was brought up on the Megan Kelly files on Fox last evening. It was discussed by about 3 + Megan one being from the Down Under Country. I had to laugh when he said that the people in the country have recovered back and now own about the same amount of guns they did back during confiscation but this time there are not quite as many shotguns and more Hi powered Rifles. Sounds like they may have a couple of those markets like Ted mentioned down there huh??? All that money the government spent back then buying old shot guns didn't do anything but give everyone money towards new and better weapons. Kind of Ironic huh??? More power to the people down under is all I can say............. That should be proof enough that if people want to own guns they will own them one way or another. Also now the Australian government has no clue who all has them now because no one registered them like they did the first time. So now they can't come and take them like they could the first time............. -
My Son in Law fishes Percy lake often so I made sure he stays alert to all surroundings while launching or loading the boat. http://www.wsmv.com/story/30278848/1-killed-in-shooting-at-rutherford-county-boat-ramp
