  1. I think we are going to begin seeing more of these type offers and also see those gun buster signs begin coming back down as more and more business owners realize that having concealed legal gun owners in their place of business is really added what could almost be called free security for the business. Just putting the Gun Busted signs up invites a bad guy to rob them. A sign welcoming concealed carry would give the bad guys a feeling of insecurity not knowing how many legal carry people might be in the business at any given time................jmho
  2. I guess they have once again changed their minds on meats. Last night on the news they announced that any processed meats can be a cause of cancer and that smoked meats are as bad if not worse than smoking  cigarettes. They also said pork is a red meat after is has been advertised as the other white meat for years. They also say grilling meat on a grill compounds the dangers and make them far more dangerous than smoking cigarettes. I damn sure wish they would make up their minds on what is going to kill me and get it over with. Look how hard every fast food restaurant has been pushing bacon on everything they make. I guess all of them are working over time to give folks cancer. Below is a link about this and as far as I can tell the article is pretty much a toss up between "Chicken Little running around screaming the Sky is falling" and "The little boy that cried Wolf".  If you read the entire article you will probably be as confused as I was to all of the crazy findings of many different findings of many different groups.     Myself I agree with one woman interviewed while coming out of a grocery store when ask about the survey and it's findings. her reply was " Everything causes Cancer according to some organization, Everyone dies of something and all lives end" and she walked away.    I find things a little different in one sense. Back many many moons ago when my Grandfather and all his brothers were farmers and raised all their own meats and processed their own meats and grew their own vegetables they all lived to be quite old. My grandfather was 96 when he passed away. He had 3 brothers and they all farmed. The brother that passed away the youngest was 88 when he died. So with that said, I don't think it's the meats killing anyone but the chemicals that the big farmers are using such as growth hormones that cause faster growth so they can get their stock to market quicker is the real culprit in the meat.....................jmho      http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2015/10/26/hot-dogs-bacon-and-other-processed-meats-cause-cancer-world-health-organization-declares/
  3. If I lived in Texas he would be the last lawyer I would call if I needed one...............JMHO
  4. It was back in the news tonight. They think they have him kind of cornered but not 100% sure. He sure is a slippery old man. I am betting they probably won't take him alive. Unless he has access to news, he probably thinks he killed the officer he gut shot...In all honesty it would not hurt my feelings he was killed in shoot out with police. Save taxpayers a fortune and get another piece of :poop: off the streets...............jmho
  5. It was on NBC Late News last night and they said he was driving a red Ford Pick up and they thought they had found the vehicle but were still hunting him.............
  6. The lack of coverage and attention given was because it was a Law Enforcement Officer being shot and not a Law Enforcement shooting some so called innocent person. The Media's have become as far left as our President when it come to LEO's. He hates them because most all of them has refused to act on Americans that refuse to follow the stupid gun laws issued in a several states...... :ugh:  :ugh:
  7. According to the anti everything people these people would still be able to get their hands on alcohol and a Cell phone through straw buyers regardless of how many back ground checks they do.............JMHO
  8. There are people out there everyday running the Vet Con games on the vulnerable public. Several years back when I would go to my old shop to visit my son there was they man( I say man) that was always standing on this same street corner holding a sign saying "Can you help-Vietnam Vet." After my third time seeing him I pulled up to him and told him that he might want to try changing his sign to read Operation Desert Storm and he ask why and I said because you about 25 years to young to be Vietnam Vet. He evidently changed street corners after that because I never saw him again. I don't give to any of them. There are to many legit organizations to donate to for Veterans................jmho
  9. "McCarthy's books are not light reading."             Sorry but I gotta ask this!!!!!          Does that mean you read them in the dark??????............. :hiding:
  10. I myself would just like a year without any major health issues and I would be happy. I have told my entire family not to buy me a damn thing cause I don't need all the junk I have now. My daughter calls me Scrooge every year and every year I agree with her. I try decorating that year after I lost my wife to try and keep her memories alive but it didn't work so I gave all my decorations to the Kids so they could decorate for the grand kids.
  11. I am a Vet and I have never walked through the doors of a VA hospital and never will. I have always paid for insurance for my medical bills for myself and my family. I have no use for anything the Federal Government has to offer me that I did not pay for or into first and they are looking for ways to screw me along with millions of other Americans out of their Social Security. They stole all the funds out of it and use them on pet projects. When Social Security laws were handed down it stated that no one except Social Security recipients were to receive funds from it. All that's left in the account are useless IOU's that no politician intends on paying back. If they ever sent me pain pills via UPS or any other carrier I would refuse them and make the driver take them back...................
  12. I seem to be able to find 380 most places I go but then I am looking for 380 to see if I can get a buy on any. I never look at 9mm since I don't own one. That might be why I don't see the cost difference.  A buddy of mine that frequents some of the same places I do and has a few 380's told me of a couple place we go that just got a large stock of 380's Ammo in Remington at a good price and he bought 5 boxes while he was there. 18.00 a box for 50 rounds. That is what I paid about 4 years ago for it................
  13. Ok, after reading the ad and looking at the truck you are not really wanting to sell her. You are actually hoping no one buys her. You listed ever flaw she has and has already planted in any potential buyers mind that they will be paying somewhere close to 10 grand on a vehicle that will need at least another 5 grand spent on her from the get go...........  That is sure sign you don't want her to sell.....
  14. You may be right, never thought about that. It's been a while since I bought any ammo. Bought quit a bit back several years ago so have not priced any recently................... :ugh: :ugh:
  15. Bersa Thunder 380s start at $265.00 and Bersa 9mm begin at over $400.00 at Bud's so where is it that you find 380's cost more than 9mm do?
  16. I had a 1990 GMC 1500 Sierra that I bought new in 1990 and paid cash for it. I put 240,000 miles on her and much of the time it was pulling a bass Boat all or southeastern U.S. fishing bass tournaments. All the time I owned that truck I only had to put two rebuilt trannys in her and regular maintenance. It still had original timing chain in it. My Son gave me a Jeep Cherokee once I quit touring and it will pull bass boat to all local lakes. I parked the GMC for about a month and got a hair up my but to set it out front of my house with a 4 sale sign on it  That same day I had 5 people stop by and ask about it and how much I wanted for it. I to this day cannot explain why I sold it rather than just slowly fix her up but I put a price of $2,500.00 on it back in 2009 thinking no one would pay that for it. A guy and his wife stopped in that same afternoon and test drove it and came back and ask what I wanted for it. I said $2.500.00 non negotiation. He said I was asking to much for a truck with that many miles on it and the age of it. I said that is the price and not a dime less. He said thanks and went and got in with his wife and left. An hour later he came back and handed me 25 folding Ben Franklin's and I signed the title and watched it drive away. 5 minutes after it was out of sight I regretted selling it and to this day still regret it. Make sure that once you do sell it you don't end up like me. Regretting it and helpless to do anything about it.........jmho
  17. I got out in 73 so I am sure my info is probably on a micro-phish some where and don't know if they can get at those but one never knows when it comes to stupidity of the Federal government...................
  18. I would be willing to guess any Navy Seal or Ranger that has been in training for more than 5 years could all perform like that and probably actually reload quicker then they did............jmho
  19. Well, I guess I am the only guy that still has cable. I choose to have it because it has all the channels I enjoy watching such as Discovery, History channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, TLC, NBCSN, all ESPN's and a few others and i am on my own and I do watch them a lot. I have had my share of fights with Comcast over the years before finally about a year ago I found the exact package I wanted that has everything I want including all local channels. My main issue with them was the ever changing bill changes each month. $10.00 to $15.00 every month I had a very long talk with Customer Service one day and got this issue resolved. My bill has been with in a few nickels or dimes of $62.00 a month for the package I wanted and has not went up or down in over a year. I don't mid paying $744.00 dollars a year to get what i enjoy. Now if I didn't have to put up with 6 minutes of programming and 5 minutes of damn commercials I would be happy. I do understand that commercials pay for their programming but it seems here recently they are over doing it.............jmho
  20. Well, what I have read does cover a number of different scenario's for sure but then there are guys like me. Yea, I have old Military training which for the most part I do remember how to do it. And when I got out I did spend a fair amount of time practicing because I had a place I could do it. My grandfathers Ranch. But as the years went by and I got almost killed by a run away truck  that broke or fractured about 60% of the bones in my body and did major internal damage it is not my heart or my mine that prevents me from training now but my body.   Doctors have told me I will be suffering from that truck for the rest of my life. They were right to a point. I was young when I got hurt and after I healed up I did go back to my training along with my mechanics work and over the years I did undergo several more surgeries to repair things that showed up in later years. In 1990 they had to implant 26 square inches of Mylex Mesh into my body just to hold my abdomen together and told me no more work and no extra strenuous activities requiring any lifting of more than a gallon of milk.    I did up until my eye sight began going from cataracts spend at least 3 days a week at the range with a few of my buddies and I will again soon as my eye surgeries are complete. Like I said my heart and my mine are still in a training mode but body won't allow it.    As far as my protecting myself and loved ones, I can still recall on my training to do that because the Adrenalin will take over and body pain will be ignored at that point.    Now with that said I do understand the frustration you have Caster. This day in time most people are focusing on taking care of family by putting food on the table and a roof over their head plus many companies work people longer hours with less employees. I think the reason for having issues with finding a place to train, that comes from all the lawsuits people open themselves up to should something happen on their land. Back when we owned the Ranch/Farm there towards we sold it if we allowed anyone other than family to hunt  they had to sign a waiver agreeing not to sue if injury or death while on the property and also were responsible for any and all livestock that my be killed. You would be surprised how many people refused to sign it and didn't get to hunt.   I do wish you the best in your goals to get a few friends to train with you and you do find a location in which to train..........
  21. If I am not mistaken, isn't that the old Gun City location. If it is, that place was but like Fort Knox and sat right on the corner kinda hanging on to a hill. Been in there a few times and you ain't gonna drive no normal pick up truck through the front of that building......jmho
  22. Well, I have tried about all calibers out there and I have settled on 380's for the most I feel comfortable with for Home and carry. I know a lot of people will say they are just not enough fire power but with the right ammo they do a damn nice job in a gel test. ...........jmho
  23. She may be pregnant as to why she is so fat. I have seen a lot of black bears in my life but non as fat as her that was not pregnant...........jmho
  24. I have never fish out of Mona Boat ramp. Always seemed to isolated for my taste. I seldom put in at Fate Sanders even though one of my good friends owns that Fate Sanders Marina. I knew Big John back when he ran it and now Little John owns it and i still won't launch from there because of that way the parking lot is isolated from the marina. If I can't see my tow vehicle from the water I won't launch there.  That is one of the reasons I like Seven Points. Well lit all night and you can scan the entire parking area from the lake with your boat headlights. There has been a few times we came in and there was two cars parked at the end of the lot with no trailers on either so I just sat out in the water with my boat headlights kinda trained on the cars. Within about 5 minutes or less both cars stated up and left. We wanted about 5 minutes to make sure they weren't coming back before I drop Tommy off to go get the trailer backed in and I sat lined up and ready to load soon as the trailer was in the water with my gun in my hand.............. :squint:
  25. I don't know why you would say a Phoenix is junk. I have owned 3 of them and none of them were junk. Each one was very accurate, never had a FTF and would shoot about any ammo out there. I have one right now and still shoot it often at the range with zero problems. The only issue I have with them are they do have more safeties than I like on a gun but that would be my only complaint....JMHO
