  1. Has anyone been giving any thoughts about the terrorist threats being made on our soil and a timeline of when it might happen? I know that everyone in Security positions in Government says there are no confirmed threats known right now but then Paris didn't have any either before Friday night. I sincerely hope I am wrong but Black Friday is only a week away and every mall across this country is going to be packed with people and the malls have not announced any major increases in security for fear it would keep folks away from the stores. 2 suicide bombers could walk in a food court of a mall at lunch and how many people would be killed. If they had numerous malls targeted at same time it could be very serious to say the least. I don't think they would try using guns such as in Paris but suicide bombers would be far more effective and not noticeable till to late.    I have told my family not to go to any Malls on Black Friday and all of them have promised me they won't. If there are no know actual threats why has many of most major cities ramped up the police presence by as many as 1500 officers or more with some bringing in National Guard for extra help.    I'm not trying to scare people of cry wolf or the sky is falling but just want people to think about what is going on right now and stay safe.................
  2. I pretty much have a decent life and have since my wife passed. Loved her to death but could not deal with her son (Stepson) at all. Major bum period. Stayed drunk most of the time. Once wife passed I threw him out along with dead beat wife. Have not spoke to them since funeral. Step daughter has been a great help to me but does not try to interfere in my life. My Son lives about 70 miles away and stays to busy working to even call but about 1 time a month. As for my neighbors, they tolerate me but don't say much to me over the 17+ years we have lived next to each other. I think a lot of that may have to do with I carry while around my house and out in my yard. I don't even know if they own a gun. Never asked, never thought it was any of my business. I have a few very close friends that stop in once in a while for coffee in the morning every couple days. I don't attend any family dinners like Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years. That caused an issue back about 1998 after wife died because I got invited to both homes for Thanksgiving that year and because I did go to either they both got offended so have not been to either since. They don't even ask me any more. Both just show up with left overs for me to freeze and eat when I get ready. Kasey loves left over............
  3. Can any business have enough security when it comes to things that can do great damage, be dangerous or be stolen?......
  4. Thank you very much!!! that has made it a lot easier to read and type and saved me a bunch of funds........
  5. Most folks here know I have got cataracts and it is becoming a little difficult for me to read the computer screen and i am looking for one of those magnifier screens I can put on my monitor to enlarge the print. The only one Amazon offers has very poor reviews so not going to waste my time there. I was wondering if anyone else may know where I might be able to get one for a 17 inch flat monitor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   thanks Bersaguy
  6. Back when I was shooting Trap, that was the way I grew up shooting at Turkey Shoots. When I moved down here I went to a Turkey shoot and it was the pattern paper targets and I was a little disappointed it was not a trap shoot. I was a member of two different shooting clubs and shot at one or the other every Friday night. You mentioned the 27 yard back up in your club. We called them Block house shoots and we had 5 shooters at a time and if you missed you were eliminated from that shoot. My buddy and I won many of those shoots. I had an Over/Under 30 inch Full & Full Browning and my buddy shot a Winchester Model 12 Pump gun with 30 Inch Full.   At the 16 yard distance we both had to wait till the birds peaked and began their down float before we could bust them. Most of the other guys were shooting modified barrels. That is why we were able to win most of the block house shoots. The birds were still in their climb when we could shoot them. At those turkey shoots we would always come home with several canned hams and several Turkey's. I like what they called the meat shoots. There you could win a Turkey, ham, 8 lb stick of Bologna, or Salami. We would clean up on those shoots. Thing is we were both teenagers shooting against most grown men that had been shooting for years. Most everyone reloaded their own shells so it was fairly cheap for us to shoot back then.   I went to one of the Turkey shoots down here with my younger brother and I got to shoot only one round before my gun was disqualified. They let me have the first Turkey but told me I could not shoot again. Even though they could not prove my gun was sleeved which it was not they said I couldn't shoot again. I almost blew the center out of the target. I didn't argue it. I just hung around and watched my little brother win about 5 turkeys with my grandfathers old single shot 30 inch full choke 12 gauge. That Browning was one of the guns they got when they burglarized out home in 1988......................
  7. All that shaking going on in his avatar was driving me nuts to where I would skip over a lot of his posts.............. :ugh:
  8. Back years ago when I spent a lot of time shooting Trap and Skeet I got to look inside a Trap house. It was buried below a berm ground level, made of 5 inches of Concrete on all three sides in front of shooters and the roof was 3/4 inch Marine type plywood with I think 1/4 inch steel plate covered with earth. They said the trap house had to be very very safe for the operator even though all of the shots that were made was with the Clay birds at least 25+ feet above the trap house. If your machine is commercial grade you should be able to put the machine just behind the shooters on one side or the other and still have a challenging bird flight. If it has the right bird flight the bird is moving at 90 Feet per second for first 5 seconds and is out of range in 9 seconds using low power trap loads. I do think like most folks on this one though. Best to not have the operator in front of the shooters in anything above ground..............jmho
  9. So what WAS he? Orthodox Jew? Terrorist? Milk man?   You forgot "Pain in the A$$" which would get my vote............jmho   Thanks to the "Silencer of the Lamb"......................
  10. Well what was left after France got done with them may have vacated Raqqa so like I said, Russia was dropping bombs and firing missiles into what was left after France got done. Now if we can we need to find out where they plan on sitting up house keeping at next so someone can strike it.........jmho
  11. "Quote"This has got me thinking for the first time how it might have effected me were I a part of the military or our government or even the adult generation that was responsible for dropping the nukes on Japan." My father was a very good friend of the pilot that flew the Enola Gay that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima Japan. This is an article from a report after he dropped the bomb. Air Force captain Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk did not know the destructive force of the nuclear bomb before Hiroshima. He was 24 years old at that time, a veteran of 58 missions in North Africa. Paul Tibbets told him this mission would shorten or end the war, but Van Kirk had heard that line before. Hiroshima made him a believer. Van Kirk felt the bombing of Hiroshima was worth the price in that it ended the war before the invasion of Japan, which promised to be devastating to both sides.
  12. It was 10 years ago on September that terrorists struck the school in Russia killing 300 with 186 of them children.  What is to say it won't happen here? Schools are soft targets. When they say they will strike DC, that is probably a very big diversion to get America focused on protecting Our countries Capitol and elected government which would not succeed because of the extra security that is located there. But a school does not have a military force protecting it.   I guess they finally proved to Putin that ISIS brought down his countries Airbus over the Sinai so now he is bombing Raqqi but he is to late cause France beat him to it so he is bombing rubble. At least he has now decided that ISIS is his enemy also. Now ISIS had got 3 different military's countries bombing their locations. I wonder who they plan to piss off next. ISIS has said no one is safe...........
  13. I have never had a bad experience at any TSC store and the one here in Gallatin goes out of their way to help every way they can. I buy all my critter food there and they load it for me.One of the guys that loaded my jeep with the foods noticed I have a handicap license plate on my jeep and he said from now on when you come into the store you ask a store member to help to not only carry out but help with putting the food bags in your buggy and I tried that and they were more than glad to help.   I was kind of upset when they cut George Strait from their commercials after about 5 years. I did enjoy his commercials which is rare for me to enjoy very many commercials..............
  14. There are many school systems looking at doing what Ohio did. With all the threats that are coming out of ISIS about attacking our country in the heart and that is thought to be DC. If you think about the real heart of our country it is our children. I don't think schools can ever have enough security but if I was a school system looking for Security I would begin turning to our unemployed Veterans and giving them jobs as counselors or working with sports teams or Deans of young people just to talk with them and have all of them armed but having trained personnel on the grounds every day. People that know gun fire when they hear it and don't run from it but towards it. I think Dolo touched on some of this in another thread.............jmho
  15. That is pretty much same MO used last year when a bunch for thieves hit the In range gun store about 4 miles from the G&L store in Hendersonville. The In Range store is on Gallatin road between Hendersonville and Rivergate mall. May be same guys! They got away with it once some why not try it again?.............jmho
  16. Folks have to remember America was not always as stated. During WWII Collateral damage was just part of war. No one ever really wins a war. Both sides just decide to quit fighting when one side gains a major upper hand. We did just that with two bombs dropped on Japan that convinced them to come to the peace table talks. With this enemy there is no chance for peace talks because they hate everyone including many of their own people. Think about the collateral damage experienced in those two enormous Japanese cities of civilians that we completely leveled. It was after that when the bleeding hearts began to surface and begin protesting us and how inhumane we are and it needed to change.      Well, it did and in the Korean War when we were on the verge of defeating the North Koreans Bleeding Hearts put pressure on Washington caused the President to call off all our Generals like Mc'Arthur and told them to stand down. That was the beginning of the end of what America was before and what it is today. The only way to defeat an enemy is to accept that fact that there will be collateral damage that takes place in all wars.      Now with that said this enemy is like no other enemy this country or the world for that fact have ever faced. It is a religious war based on the ideologies of a radical Cell if Islamic people that are as capable of killing their own people as they are any infidels anywhere in the world. When a people are willing to kill their own people over their religion you have a very dangerous enemy. That is what we have right now. An enemy that welcomes death because of a promise of 72 virgins and becoming a martyr.     If we are to defeat this enemy we must accept the fact that there will be a lot of collateral damage and a lot of Civilians are going to died in those countries but they are already being killed by the 1000's by the radicals and we have to accept what is the end move for checkmate. It is either them or us..............jmho
  17. I was also taught it in High School but like you said. It is no longer taught in our schools and should be. Physical Education has also been done away with and then folks complain about how many obese children are attending school. Back when I was in school from 4th grade on there was one hour of Physical Education every day and you were graded on it. That needs to be brought back also........jmho
  18. Quote    "She's not going to enjoy shooting it, but these guns were never intended to be shot much."  If she ever does need to shoot it in defense of herself or others you can bet the adrenal will be so high that she won't notice any of the recoil or trigger pull of the gun. If it gets the job done that is what counts....................jmho
  19. I do hope they find this evil person and I wouldn't mind it being the citizens that find him/her first if they are 100% sure he/she is the responsible person. I have zero problem with Vigilante justice because if it turns out to be a pervert child molester that has been caught in the past and released by the courts with a slap on the wrist I'm quite sure it would be a different outcome if caught by citizens first.........jmho            Prayers to the family for their terrible loss.......... :(
  20. I could probably count mine if I spent a day on it with a calculator and note book.............
  21. I never send anything any more without tracking on it. I also learned my lesson on just trusting to USPO or UPS and Fedex to deliver anything that is not tracked. Depending on what I send I may even require a signature...............
  22. If I could like this a 1000 times I would................

  24. The United States gets hit on 9/11 and it takes us almost 6 months to retaliate and strike back. France gets hit and France strikes back in 48 hours. Whats wrong with this picture? Every time we make a decision to attack an enemy it takes us 6 months of planning and announcing we are coming to let the enemy make all the plans they need to get ready for it? Did the Japanese announce  6 months in advance of Pearl Harbor, Did Bin Laden announce he planned to fly planes into the towers and Pentagon 6 months in advance? I have always thought that it would be most effective if the enemy knew they were going to be attacked after the first bombs began exploding on all of the top targets and then we say    Surprise, We're here!!!!!.............jmho
  25. Nothing surprises me about the young people in this country these days. It seems it's all about ME ME ME and to hell with anyone that does not agree with ME!!!! As far as I'm concerned ME is at the very bottom of my list of things I agree with. Maybe when a terrorist Group attacks one of the Colleges all the ME's are protesting at maybe they might learn something but that is a small maybe!!!! They will find someone else to blame for it probably. It can never be ME that is wrong. All I can say is good luck with your ME ME ME protests when you put your cause before the deaths of over 100 people and the 300+ that were injured...........jmho
