Heads up about the owner of Shooter's Depot in Chattanooga
bersaguy replied to Junkstack's topic in General Chat
Several years back while I was still working at a Gulf Station there was a guy came in to peddle a few firearms to be able to purchase gas to continue his trip from Memphis to Chicago. My boss asked him what he had and when the guy opened his trunk I am guessing there was at least 100+ hand guns of all makes and models. I looked at my boss and he said there was nothing in there he could use and I said that also but I added that I had a few buddies that had mentioned they were looking to buy a few hand guns. I told him if he could come back in a hour they would be here. I cannot believe the guy was stupid enough to come back but he did. There was some sweet guns but we both knew better than to buy any. I got the plate number of the Lincoln Town car he was driving and relayed it to a couple friends of mine on Metro Vice. They had been looking for this guy for almost a month. He was not going to Chicago. He was peddling his wears right here in Nashville. George McNeal and Dale Street showed up and were there when the guy came back. He opened the trunk and was cuffed almost before it go open all the way. I spoke with Dale about a week later and every gun this guy was selling was stolen in Memphis, Mississippi, or Arkansas. There is not any doubt in my mind that there are probably 1000's more guys just like him out there selling stolen guns and that is where most of the bad guys get their guns, not gun show parking lots................jmho -
When are the Dumbo's on the left going to realize that every time they present a bill to curb gun violence that more and more people go out and buy more guns. Last week after the terrorist attack they said over 185,000 people made application to purchase a gun in California alone. The shocking part about that was a large percentage of them were people in their 60's and 70's that until then had never owned a firearm. I guess the American people have finally learned it's better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it...........jmho

Tazer joke Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt pocket/purse-sized Tazer. The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to saftey...?? WAY TOO COOL!!! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home...I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what the burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a secone) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself againist a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another. The directions said that: A one second burst would shock and disorient your assailant A two second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and A three second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries) pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, "no possible way"!! What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, "Don't do it stupid", reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad...I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and ..... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE ....!!!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note- If you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a Tazer one note of caution: There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by violent thrashing about on the floor!! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. *The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. *My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. *My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. *I had no control over the drooling. *Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone. *I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! Maybe this is what that 67 year old lady should be packing for any guy who need a cigarette lit. It appears it would light up about anyone's smoke..................

Connecticut Gov. executive order
bersaguy replied to xsubsailor's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
All someone has to do these days is say anything out loud what they are thinking and these Anti Gun Fruitcakes come out of the woodwork scheming on how many ways they can use it to push their damn agendas. I hope this one jumps up and bites that Governor right it both cheeks of his A$$..............jmho -
I live right here in Gallatin about a mile from everything related to heavy traffic and for the last several years I have had a Gray fox living in the huge thick fence row that separates my yard and neighbors behind me and the fence row runs about 1.5 miles in length. Three years ago I had a doe and two fawns in my back yard but the Gray fox has taken up residency cause just before dark on many occasions I have seen it walking along the edge of the fence row. From time to time I will put a piece of raw chicken along the route it normally follows about an hour before dark. I will go back and check on it several hours later and it will be gone about 80% of the time. I'm hoping to keep it close and out of harms way if possible. I do wish I had a trail cam to get a few shots of it......................

Well, I'm pretty sure I would be hard to buy for since I have not ever really asked for anything much at all in my posts. Not really a lot I could use that falls within the price perimeters set by the rules. A prepaid visa gift card would work for me if my Santa is still looking for something for me. They can be used about anyplace I would be going to purchase anything. I think gift cards are a blessing this day in time. It is something everyone can use at some time to purchase merchandise that a person can use rather than getting someone something they might never use.......jmho

Good thing is it is back where it belongs and not in some bad guys pocket............

They are telling Americans "if you see something, say something." That is all the Walmart did and I don't blame them for it. I think the police should have held them until FBI or Homeland Security could check these men out. Now that they know people are watching for things if these guys do have ugly plans they will probably speed their plans before anyone higher up can investigate them.......jmho

Unless you are in a Gun Free Zone which I am sure you would not be then what difference does it make? If you are legal to carry and like most have said, not nervous about someone seeing you your good to go...........jmho

My Son in law's company purchases those foam ear plugs by the 1000's for employees on job sites and I guess I probably have a 100 he gave me to use at the range. They do work to a point but I still prefer to use muffs when at the range........just preference I guess...........

Always carry with one in the pipe.
bersaguy replied to Steelharp's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
 That depends on the pipe.......Shotgun with 00 buck would be an exception to that. -
I can remember when there were many things you could not purchase a lot of items on them that they can buy now. I think just about anything except tobacco and Alcoholic beverages now. Anything else is fair game I think................

Back years ago my mother had a few friends that lived in public housing and ever so often she would ask me to take her to visit them and I would. I could not count on both fingers and toes the number of high end vehicles such as Caddy's Lincolns, Range Rovers and Hummers all with fancy wheels and tires on them parked in there. I asked one of my mothers friends how these people could afford their high end cars and trucks. He reply was short and sweet. Drug dealers. She said they all live with young girls that can qualify for public housing and food stamps because their income is not counted because they are not married. That pretty much summed it up in a nutshell. I had already drew that conclusion but just wanted to verify my thoughts. I use to have a few customers that traded with me when had my own shop. I knew what they did for a living but never bothered to ask. I can remember one in particular. He drove a 1965 Chevy 4 door hardtop. He was having the entire car rebuilt from bumper to bumper. He came to me to get the motor and transmission rebuilt. He also had me do a change out of front brake system and put disc brakes on the front. He never ask how much it would cost. He just ask me when it would be done. I told him 3 weeks. In 3 weeks he walked in the door to get his car and we had it ready. I handed him the bill and he never even hesitated. He began bring out wads of 100 dollar bills out of the cargo pants pockets till he counted out 5,200.00 and I handed him the keys. He came back after he had the car completed to show it to me. He had added a hydraulic low rider kit to it and had gold mag wheels and wide profile tires on it. I asked him about how much he had in the car and he said about $18,000.00. His whole family traded with me. One day his mother came in to get some work done on her car and I asked her about Carlye and said I had not seen him around in a while. She dropped her head and said I guess you have not heard. He was killed while in Chattanooga 2 months earlier during a car hijacking and he refused to let them have his car so they dragged him out of his car and shot him 5 times in the street and took the car. Goes to show, if you live a life of crime and violence most likely that is how you will die. Oh yea he and his family lived in the projects on University Court off Murfreesboro Road. Highest crime rate area in Nashville. With that said, good chance had that video over the steak not been staged and was real, my guess is that the people he took the steak from just did not want to draw the police into it and wanted to avoid any attention being drawn to them by the police.......... jmho
